Michael of Boston For the Bride

Michael restored my grandmother's wedding dress from 1959. It turned out absolutely beautiful! He restructured the bodice and shoulders, hemmed the delicate lace, and even added sleeves that matched the original perfectly. He also tailored a "party" wedding dress, rehearsal dinner jumpsuit, and bridesmaid dress. He custom made my veil to match the vintage dress. It was all perfection in the end! Meanwhile, he made us feel like family whenever we went in. Cannot recommend him enough!

Michael is a miracle worker! I got referred to him by Orange Restoration Labs for alterations that needed to be made to my grandma's wedding dress after restoration. He did an absolutely amazing job rebuilding the bodice and collar of the 70 year old dress in a short turnaround time. He was great to work with and is an absolute master of his craft. Thank you to Michael for helping me look my best on my wedding day and helping me have a really special time with my grandma.

Michael is so talented at what he does and is incredibly kind! He altered my wedding dress, bridal shower dress, rehearsal dinner dress, AND made my veil, and everything came out flawlessly. The best part? His work is fabulous and he has incredibly low prices!! I was shocked at how little I paid for my wedding dress alterations and a custom veil - truly you won't find a better value anywhere in the area, plus he has excellent, very flexible hours. I can't recommend Michael highly enough!

I can't say enough good things about this place. I found my absolute dream dress at the shop but didn't want to try it on because online dresses like it were out of my budget and there was no tag. Not only was the dress in my budget, but he didn't pressure me to buy it then and there. They suggested that I go home and sleep on it and come back the next day. It was such a stress free experience from the first day of shopping, through the fittings, to getting the final product. He works around your schedule and makes sure that you leave with exactly what you want. I would recommend going to him if you need a dress or even if you found one but need alterations.

Michael has now helped alter mine and my four sisters' wedding dresses and has been such a pleasure to work time and time again. Michael is truly talented and took what I was saying to him / asking for in my dress (I was kind of all over the place honestly) and brought it to life. He dealt with my often crazy bridal nerves, and eased them with his kind words. He is a genuinely sweet man and you can really tell he loves what he does! I also have to shout out Michael's assistant (Ann - I think?!) who was really paramount in my alterations. She built custom beaded straps which I know had to be difficult and made them look like they were always meant to be there! A true talent. Thank you both for everything you did to make me feel absolutely beautiful on my wedding day.

I, too, had purchased my gown from David's Bridal and was not willing to settle for their alteration services. Michael was referred to me by a friend, whose family has used Michael for years. Michael was an absolute gem to work with! He was very personable and incredibly kind. There were times that he had multiple customers in the shoppe and was able to tend to everyone individually and never rushed anyone or turned anyone away. His skill and attention to detail really made my dream dress even more perfect!

Michael is a true professional and does some of the most amazing work I've ever seen. He took in my wedding gown, hemmed it (a lot - I'm short!), busseled it in the most beautiful way, made my veil and even made me custom lace straps for the church. He gave me a great deal on all of my bridesmaids dresses and was able to take one in the day before the wedding. I had 2 pregnant bridesmaids, and he took the dresses out perfectly and they both felt very comfortable. I definitely recommend him to future brides!

Michael is everything you want in a bridal salon. He has a wide selection of dresses for brides, bridesmaids, MOTB/MOTG, and flower girls for a small salon. Michael and his team do the alterations in house and everything has a personal touch. He remembered who I was every time I called and asked me about my family and the bridesmaids. After seeing photos from my visit to David's Bridal, he picked out 5 dresses, but told me I'd love the 1st one the best.... and he was right! The alterations came out PERFECT. He trimmed the underside of the train to make it only lace and the result was STUNNING. He also did some cinching at my bust (I'm heavy chested) to give me even more shape. In the end, I looked better than I ever thought possible. Even though I had a strapless dress I didn't once pull up the dress - That's unheard of! He also helped my mom pick out her MOTB dress - he held it up to her (it was about 6 sizes too small) and said to trust him. She did, and she was gorgeous. He even constructed a jacket for her because she felt self conscious of her arms. I've already brought other dresses to be altered by Michael, but I know it's worth the trip from Connecticut to my parent's home town for Michael to alter my dresses. You won't be sorry if you choose Michaels of Boston.

I had a short simple dress for my backyard wedding but it did need some alterations and I thought Michael did a great job. He shortened the length which involved bring up the lace scallop edge as well as a few adjustments to the bust and straps and it was all done quickly and came out great. I felt comfortable in my dress the entire day/night and would definitely recommend Michael to anyone who needs alterations done to a bridal or other formal dress/gown.

Michael is the best tailor and businessman. He honors his customers with excellent manners and a helpful attitude! My husband and I had accompanied my daughter to some 2nd hand shops because she wanted a low-budget wedding and no debt, but, having no success, we were ready to go to David's Bridal and just happened to try some dresses at this shop because this is where the bride's maids' dresses were ordered. He pulled out 3 dresses, 1 of which she instantly had no doubts about. He gave her an amazing deal because it "had been there awhile". The amazement doesn't end there! He expertly and quickly tailored it and it fit like a glove! She felt so beautiful and it was exactly what she wanted! As mother of the bride, I needed a gown and she chose one for me from him, as well. He also offered to do any extra tailoring for me for things purchased from other vendors, so I immediately brought in a few things. My friend's daughter found her Mother-of-the-bride dress at another store but brought it Michael to be fitted and I never heard the end of it. She fell in love with him. And I was like, "I told you! Aren't you glad you listened to me?" Thank you, Michael! I could watch you work your talent on all your customers and never get bored! I could go on, but just go there for yourself and see! Danielle

I had purchased my wedding gown from David's Bridal, but was not happy with their alteration services. I went to Michael of Boston. I wanted some custom work done to my dress. It was a simple beach wedding dress. I had a wautau train added and the halter straps adjusted. He did a fantastic job! I couldn't believe how beautiful it looked in all the photos. Thank you Michael!!!

Admittedly, I first went to Michael’s to appease my mother. My bridesmaids were kind enough to set up appointments at a few trendy wedding boutiques but according to my mom, she had found the perfect wedding dress at a small shop in Pembroke. When we walked in, there were dresses and veils everywhere – it literally looked like “The Running of the Bride” had blown through this small shop and suddenly I was in a hurry to get in & get out…until I met Michael. Michael is absolutely amazing – he’s a genius and completely under rated! Having worked for Priscilla of Boston, he perfected his talent and was able to take an off the rack wedding dress and turn it in to the most stunning gown that not only fit me like a glove but more importantly, made me look like I belonged on the cover of Vogue (which trust me, I don’t come close). Having been a bridesmaid in my fair share of weddings, I’ve been to a few places – most of which provide an arrogant, snobby, sometimes condescending boutique experience. Not at Michael’s. Michael is not only helping you in to the dresses, but he’s doing the tailoring himself which means, he truly can make miracles happen. I literally watched him rip apart my dress, take stuffing and padding out from the bodice and skirt and stitch it back together all while sitting there chit chatting with my bridesmaid and me – it was unbelievable to watch! Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Michael’s gowns are extremely reasonable and unless you’re doing the alterations yourself, you can’t beat his prices! On top of my wedding gown & veil, we bought all 5 bridesmaids gowns, the mother-of-the-bride dress and he made my niece’s (flower girl) dress from scratch to match my wedding gown. Michael truly goes above & beyond to make your entire, bridal experience, magical! You are absolutely amazing Michael, and I can’t thank you enough!

Michael is a genius. He made my dress based on another one of his dresses that he had previously made. He was great about making sure that I got the dress I wanted. He made my dress especially for me at a cost that was incredibly reasonable. It was the perfect dress. He has a fabulous eye for what women want to look like on their wedding day.

He built my dress to fit me (I'm quite short) and it was perfect, I got rave reviews! Much better than ordering from a big factory, I highly recommend him.

Michael of Boston (really, 45 minutes FROM Boston, to be correct) was a joke. We went there for a custom made dress - very simple and he came up with a great design. He even showed me a nice fabric and I liked it lots. He allegedly wanted to get samples before he'd quote me a price. 3 months in and several emails (from me trying to get after this guy with some kind of answer) later - no samples, no price quote. Just excuses. Finally, I had to give up and find a vendor who actually cared about having my business. Don't waste your time with this guy - seriously. Unless you have a few years to throw away on waiting for a dress. And I promise - I'm not a bridezilla! I just wanted a quote.

Michale designed and made my gown for me and it fit perfectly and was without a doubt the most beautiful piece of workmanship I have ever seen. He always made time for fittings even at unusual hours. He is a talented designer and a great person!
