Yolanda (the owner and seamstress) at Michael’s Bridal is the BEST! I previously tried on dresses at her store and unfortunately did not find “the one” there. My dream dress that I chose had to be bought off the rack at another store due to the style being discontinued. Because of this, I had to purchase this dress double my normal size. It was ginormous and I was swimming in it (I’m a relatively petite person). My dress was also encrusted in beading, sequins, lace, and a huge train that consisted of 6 layers (no 2 layers were alike). I knew that alterations for this dress would be an intricate project. I remembered while visiting Yolanda’s store that even if you do not purchase your dress at her store, she is still willing to do alterations for you, and she also has SO MUCH experience with alterations under her belt. Since I had such a wonderful original experience with her, I first took my dress to her to see what alterations would entail. Although it was a very large, detailed project, she remained very calm and reassured that she would be able to do it no problem. She even let me know how thankful she was that I brought it to her because it would break her heart to know if I took it somewhere else to get altered because not many seamstresses would know how to alter a dress as “intricate and stunning” as mine, and she would be sick to her stomach worrying about what would happen if I took it somewhere else. She let me rest assured that everything would turn out absolutely perfect in her hands. It took me 6 different fittings throughout the alterations process for the dress to come together, each time fitting so much better and looking so much more beautiful than the last. I am definitely a worrier and am easily stressed, but I can sincerely say I was not at all concerned about how my alterations with Yolanda were coming along. Yolanda really takes her time with you, is not pushy whatsoever, and makes the experience so pleasant and memorable. She herself even told me she likes to treat each bride individually as if they were her own daughter. During my final fitting, my dress was absolutely exquisite. I couldn’t believe my eyes knowing how I was originally swimming in this dress and how now looking in the mirror it fit me perfectly in every single angle. Yolanda told me on numerous occasions that she lives to see the smiles on brides’ faces. I cannot recommend and thank Yolanda enough for not only her skill and talent with alterations, but also for her true kindness and calmness throughout the process.

I couldn't possibly put into words what a wonderful experience I had at Michael's Bridal Galleria. Miss Yolanda is a real life fairy godmother. She was incredibly helpful and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. She never once made me feel pressured into anything I wasn't sure of and even let me come back a second time because I couldn't decide. Also everything is well kept and organized so the vast selection doesn't get overwhelming at all. I will forever be grateful that I found this place.

The owner, Yolanda, was very sweet and knowledgeable, however the overall experience was lackluster to say the least. The website touts “largest dress selection in the area” and I was underwhelmed by the amount of dresses that were available to be ordered/customized. The majority of the “selection” was off-the-rack only. If you’re larger than size 14, don’t even bother…there won’t be much for you to try on (probably more like size 8/10, to be honest).

I was recommended to use Michael's Bridal for alterations by our wedding planner, Melissa (Devoted to You). I bought a wedding dress from BHLDN (the Carmel) and had the amazing opportunity to work with Yolanda. After buying my dress, I wanted to add sleeves as well as add more support/structure to my dress. I shared my vision with Yolanda and her work exceeded my expectations. On my wedding day, no one could tell the sleeves were not part of the original dress. Yolanda loves what she does and it shows in her work. She is very meticulous. She is also very body positive and can make you feel so comfortable in your own skin, which is always an added bonus. She makes you feel special at all your visits. Given my experience with Yolanda, I also felt confident in using her to preserve my wedding dress after our special day.

If I could give 10 stars, I would!! I found my dream wedding dress yesterday, all thanks to Yolanda! I went to a total of three local bridal shops, and Yolanda stood out above them all! She was so patient with me and took the time to EXPLAIN each dress, what looked good on my body type, how the dress could be altered, sleeves added, etc. I had two appointments with Yolanda - the first to get a sense of the style of dress I liked, and a second appointment to come back to make my selection. Both times, I was the only appointment in the store, so we got undivided attention. My dress is absolutely stunning!!! I know Yolanda is going to do a fantastic job on the alternations as well. If you are looking for specialized attention, a huge selection of dresses, and very reasonable prices, this is the place for you! Thank you, Yolanda! UPDATE: Yolanda also completed all of the alternations on my dress and did a fantastic job! I wanted sleeves added to my dress; the cut was a raglan sleeve, but Yolanda added the sleeves perfectly! The fabric matched perfectly and everyone thought the dress was originally designed with sleeves. I felt absolutely amazing in it! Also, my mom passed away about a month before my wedding. She was making a veil; Yolanda finished the veil and hand stitched each bead by hand. She wanted to finish the veil exactly how my mom started it. How special!!! Great job, Yolanda!! Thank you for making my wedding so fantastic!

I loved working with Yolanda - she was very simplistic, allowed us to explore her shop and gave honest feedback about what the dress was capable of for alterations. Additionally, after purchasing, she stores the dresses in her store so they are safe and free of external damages. Recommend stopping in to see what she has on hand!

Yolanda is the REAL deal! I feel in love with my dress but knew it need a lot of work to bring my vision to life. Yolanda is so detail oriented and my dress far surpassed my dreams! She spent countless hours removing layers and layers of tulle and the dress turned out BEAUTIFUL! I highly recommend her!!

Yolanda was a dream to work with! She is so intelligent and knowledgeable about what alterations needed to be done to my bridesmaid dress. She was so sweet and a great conversationalist. There’s a reason her nickname is “magic fingers” her work is absolutely AMAZING! Plus she was able to work with me even though I decided to wait 4 weeks before the wedding to get my dress fitted. Sweetest lady ever!

I can't express how amazing and talented Yolanda is at her job!! I have trusted her with altering many bridesmaid dresses and they have all turned out fabulous. So I knew when I picked out my wedding gown there would be no one I would trust except Yolanda. She is absolutely incredible!! The amount of time she spends on each detail to make sure it is exactly perfect is amazing! She is perfectionist which is exactly what she wants for someone altering your wedding gown. Also, Yolanda is calming and reassuring. She is so kind and treats you like her own daughters! She will stop at nothing make sure you are happy. If you want the best stop looking because Yolanda is your woman!

After getting my wedding dress, I went to Yolanda who was highly recommended by a family friend for my dress fitting and matching custom made cape, clutch purse and garter. Yolanda is the most exciting, welcoming, talented and amazing designer that I have ever met. She embraces work that is challenging and has the art of perfection in every small detail. My dress had layers and she did an excellent job at bustling all the different layers precisely. We had lot of appointments, each for capturing small details and for perfect fitting of my dress. The cape, purse and garter that she designed for my dress was breathe taking. It was exactly what I envisioned for my medieval theme (game of thrones inspired) wedding. She made my dream come true with her art. I cannot thank her enough to work so hard on my wedding attire and for being so nice to my in laws and parents. She called me on my wedding day just to make sure everything looked good and how happy she was to see me getting married. Yolanda is the best of the best!!!!! LOVE her <3

I had an appointment at Michael's to search for my bridal gown after I had already looked at 1-2 stores. Yolanda, the owner, and Claudia, the consultant, were really helpful. The store is not organized in a way that makes sense to brides as you're searching through the racks (not by size, style, etc), so you have to just kind of peruse and see what jumps out at you - which is kind of overwhelming, but once Claudia got an idea of what I liked she pulled quite a few gowns for me to try on. I did not end up getting my gown here, but did enjoy searching and Claudia was so helpful when I was looking for and trying on gowns! Many of their gowns are extremely affordable, so I would definitely recommend looking here if you're trying to stick to a budget!

Yolanda is THE BEST! Great starting point for trying on dresses, especially if you have no idea what you're looking for. Yolanda has a great eye, and will guide you towards what shape and style suits you the best. Her alterations cannot be beat, my dress needed a lot of work and by the wedding day it fit me like a glove.

Yolanda is a QUEEN. She is so helpful and amazing. I came to her not looking for a dress but because I was in desperate need of a hem. I was so paranoid to take my dress anywhere (I ordered it online) and was afraid I would not be able to find someone in the Pittsburgh area who could handle delicate lace and make a similar stitch. Turns out Yolanda, who was recommended to me by a friend, was the answer to my prayers. She was so emotionally supportive through the whole process and took extremely good care of my dress. She talked me through every part of the alteration and explained in detail the stitching she planned to make. Her craftsmanship is unmatched and she was able to do my hemming while maintaining the same stitching. All of this was $150 at the end of the day (she did $75 for each layer of my dress.) She's a magic worker! Additionally, I had her stitch my mom's veil on a comb to wear on a wedding day. ($100) She also steamed it and made it look brand new! Pittsburgh is lucky to have such an amazing wedding seamstress like Yolanda! Don't fear! She will take good care of you!

Yolanda is a magician because we took a long sleeveless gown and transformed it into the dress of my dreams! I purchased my wedding dress here after some of my friends had amazing experiences. It was nothing short of amazing. They worked with my budget and helped me pick a dress off the rack due to my timeline. Yolanda is beyond amazing and did a wonderful job hemming and taking my dress in on the sides. I highly recommend her to anyone! I enjoyed coming to each of my fittings to chat with her and really appreciated her wonderful service!

I am not the bridal type by any means, but Yolanda made me feel absolutely beautiful and (more importantly to me) comfortable. She knows exactly what she's doing and I would recommend her to anyone, any style or any size. I drove two hours just to go to her and would do it again in a heartbeat. She listens to what you want. She is personal. This is her craft and she's the best at it. Great selection and finds I didn't see anywhere else.

Yolanda is nothing short of amazing!!!! I purchased a dress from Michael’s that was fabulous… however after buying it I realized I just wasn’t in love with it, but could not bring myself to buy a new dress. Enter Yolanda! I told her how I was feeling about the dress and showed her some pictures of what I thought might work. She took my ideas and original dress and (relatively quickly at that) created my dream dress! She is an incredibly skilled seamstress and puts her heart and soul into every dress she works with. In that dress, I felt the most beautiful I’ve ever felt in my life on my wedding day. Even if you do not end getting your dress at Michael’s, I highly recommend you take it to Yolanda for any alterations. Her prices are very affordable compared to others and her skill is leaps and bounds beyond any other seamstresses in the area. And to top it off she’s just a total sweetheart to be around.

Michael’s Bridal Galleria was amazing to work with! The shop has a wonderful selection of dresses to choose from that range in prices. Yolanda not only helped me “say yes to the dress”, but tailored it to fit me perfectly. Yolanda is a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend Michael’s Bridal Galleria.

I cannot thank Yolanda and the entire Michael's Bridal staff for making me feel PERFECT on my wedding day! Claudia was so much fun to shop with for searching my dress. Yolanda worked absolute MAGIC in altering my dress to fit me like a GLOVE. In fact, she made many minor changes that I wouldn't have thought of to make the dress look even BETTER. Organza is not an easy material to work with, yet Yolanda did a phenomenal job. Yolanda made me feel like as if I was the only bride she was working with at each of my fittings. I encourage brides to visit Michaels for a dress, but even more so, I HIGHLY recommend bringing your dress to Yolanda for alterations.

Highly recommend this place and it's talented owner: Yolonda. She has a remarkable eye, and if you trust her, she won't let you down. Found a gown I loved that they didn't have in my size, so I trusted Yolonda when she said it would be beautiful (without seeing it on.) It was! Most dresses now are sleeveless, so I had her add fabric for the upper arms and it looked like it came with the dress. She's a fabulous seamstress! She's hands-on, patient and meticulous. Highly recommend!

From the front it doesn't look like much but the store is large once inside. I didn't like a lot of the dresses that were there, but LOVED the maggie that I ended up getting. What is worth is, is the tailoring. Yolanda did a fabulous job and listened to me when I didn't like where the bustle was placed.

Yolanda is a true expert. She practically re-made my dress and did a fabulous job. She cares about her clients and the quality of the work she does. Highly recommended!

Loved my dress after the alterations (which were top notch) the dress fit like a glove!

I made an appt at michael's because i found them online through maggie sottero's website as an authorized retailer. yolanda is the owner and does the alterations and she is wonderful, i cant say that enough. she is so nice and very supportive, encouraging, and helpful. i went in with 2 bridesmaids just to look around, not thinking at all i would buy something (it was november last year, and i was thinking of buying around february, just wanted to get some ideas). i ended up falling in love with the first dress i tried on and she was great about waiting for me to come back with my mom to see it and try on a few others. anyways i bought the dress, it came in about 7 months (totally designer dependent i think). they called me when it came in, i scheduled a fitting, and when it was a little tight, yolanda told me she would give me some time to try and lose weight and made time so that she would be able to get my dress done within 3 weeks of the wedding (which i did!). i had no fear she would be able to get it done and she did such a beautiful job, i had to have the hem and bustle done as well as some adjustments to the straps and the bust area, plus she added cups in so i didnt have to wear a bra. anyway all around she was amazing and i would recommend her to anyone. also, she does alterations on dresses not purchased there so if you are looking for someone, then definitely think of her!

I do not think I could say enough about this store and the service we received. This was the third store we went to to find my dress, and the service was great! The dress I ended up with was not even a style I was considering! She just read my likes and tastes and we ended up with the perfect dress. Yolanda is amazing when it comes to tailoring. She made an amazing bustle for my dress that did not fall, and had to take it in twice (once two weeks before the wedding after I lost weight) and both times it fit perfectly. My girls also picked bridesmaid dresses from here as well. They had a great selection and were once again extremely helpful.

I bought my dress and veil from here, both of which were gorgeous. I also had my alterations done at Michael's and boy were they expensive. I should have looked around but it was very convenient for me for getting to. Customer service is also a bit lacking.

I stopped by Michael's without an appt to look for shoes to wear with my dress (which I had purchased from another vender). The owner, who was there, was fairly nice but a bit brusque. She set me up with a book of shoes to look at and said once I found the one I liked we could try on another shoe to check for size. I found the perfect shoe in a catalog and we ordered it. It was to be $20 for dyeing the shoe ivory(pretty pricey if you ask me). I got a call a couple of days later saying that the shoe has been discontinued. I ended up looking online and finding the exact shoe I wanted, so I bought it. However, when my credit card bill came the next month, it showed the charge for the shoes I never received from Michael's! It was very difficult to get a hold of the owner (I apparently had to speak to her directly, no other employee could assist me). I called several times and left several messages. I even looked into how to get my money back through my credit card company, but finally I got a hold of someone who could "take the information" so that the charges could be reversed. Because of that experience, I chose to purchase other bridal items I needed elsewhere.

Truth is, they didn't have my dress as a sample, but it didn't even matter. When you first pull up to the plaza you might feel as if you are in the wrong place, but when you walk down the stairs into Michael's Bridal Galleria it really is a huge bridal dream. Dresses everywhere! Alice was my consultant. She brought every dress she had that fit my "style" for me to try on and I still couldn't find the one. I knew there was one that I had seen at another store and couldn't get it out of my mind. When I spoke with Yolanda (store owner and seamstress) about the dress any thoughts of going anywhere else were gone. I ordered it in Jan, it was in by May. It was beautiful and well taken care of by the amazing staff. Each of my bridesmaids purchased their gowns from this shop too. These ladies knew my bridesmaids and I by name when we walked in the door and truly became part of the experience.

I had gotten my wedding dress in a non-traditional manner and needed to find someone to do the alterations. I was referred to a woman that works out of her house at first. I had planned on using her and the whole process turned into a nightmare. It was nine days before my wedding and she hadn't done a thing with my wedding dress and the dress that I gave her to alter for the rehearsal dinner was all snagged from pins that she used. So with 9 days to go I removed my dress from her house and took it to Michael's Bridal. I had went there with my mother to get her dress and had taken my grandmother's wedding dress to have part of the lace cut off and made into gauntlets. Yolanda, the owner, does all of the alterations and takes her job very seriously. She had my gauntlets and all of the alterations done in time for the wedding and the dress fit like a glove. In addition, she offered to make me a garter out of a piece of my grandmothers dress. I wish I would have just went to Michael's to begin with and avoided all of the stress that I endured before the wedding! I would stongly recommend Michael's to anyone!!!
