We could not have found a more perfect caterer for our wedding reception! Simply put, Mikasa AVL is THE BEST!
My now-husband :) is half-Peruvian, so when we discovered that there was a Peruvian caterer in the area, we were already thrilled.
We chose to do a tasting and that was that...no other option.
They had all of the dishes we were hoping for (Papa a la huancaína; Ceviche de trucha; Lomo Saltado; and Ají de gallina).
One of the most amazing things was that they accommodated a special request for a desert made with lucuma. The mousse that Chef Santiago created was simply divine. (and I believe it is now a part of their menu offerings)
The food is beyond delicious, but what's also important is how Mikasa AVL goes above and beyond from there. Amazing communication. Very well organized. The staff that was with us on the night of our reception were spectacular. The extra special touches on the decor, at our buffet, was such a cool addition.
They were also willing to work with us on any allergies or special dietary needs.
Ana was on-top of everything. I really never felt like I had to worry. From start to finish, of this experience, we couldn't be more grateful.

hands down the absolute best wedding food (and maybe even the best food ever) that my husband and I, as well as our guests have ever had. I 100/10 recommend for catering. From corresponding with them, to scheduling our tasting at Ana's lovely house overlooking the mountains, to day of service, they truly were exactly what you hoped to have there for the best wedding day ever. thank you all so much.

We believe in sustainability and caring for the environment, which motivates us to use locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. By working with our culinary team, you can build your own custom menu to suit your style of event. From buffets to tapas, there are plenty of ways to enjoy your delicious food. If you have specific dietary needs, our team can provide nut-free, vegan, organic, and no pork options. Our business can also provide the necessary setup and cleanup for your special event.

Santiago Vargas
Executive Chef/Owner
Chef Santiago was born and raised in Lima, Peru. He was educated at the Cordon Blue, Lima, with a major in Hospitality Management & Gastronomy.
With 24 years of experience catering premium Weddings, he moved to the US in 2008 and has worked in several renowned restaurants in NY, preparing dishes ranging from high-end Italian cuisine to traditional barbecue. Among his accolades, he received praise for his work in Newsday, Long Island’s press. Recently, he was featured on Skillet, a podcast highlighting food and memories of the Chefs living in America’s Southern States. Santiago has brought the very diverse Peruvian flavors to Asheville, where he has lived with his wife and kids since 2015. He is passionate about his roots and can create rich and uniquely delicious dishes with the intricate flavors of Peruvian and international ingredients. He is creative and dedicated, and his talent is apparent when you try any of his dishes, crafted with love.
