We used the Brightleaf Ballroom (includes the 3rd floor balcony) for our reception. The space itself was perfect, even had the photobooth setup on the balcony. The food & drink...
s were wonderful and exactly what we ordered. The problem was that we were told we could take down decorations the next morning, but the staff threw us and our decorations out right away. They said there would be no one available the next day to give us our stuff in storage. We had to carry and store all the decorations, including our ladder, as well as the extra cake(s) in our suite. It was exhausting to take everything down that night after entertaining/partying for 5 hours, plus I did NOT approve of our multi-tiered wedding cake stashed on the AC unit all night.
I used the hotel for my room block, ceremony and reception and post-wedding brunch and got 10% off everything (except alcohol) just for being a Duke University Hospital employee! F...
riendly, courteous staff, FANTASTIC catering manager, delicious food. Hotel is in need of updating its decor, but it was a great value and we had a great time working with them.
