We booked the oak at Millsite farm, and it was incredible. We loved being able to have a wedding weekend, and our guests said it was truly the best wedding they have been to. The food was incredible, but with that being said, you do not get to taste any of the food or desserts you get through them, so that caused a lot of anxiety. Be aware of that, but all our food and desserts turned out incredible. It is definitely a pricey place, and I feel for the price the guest house at the oak at Millsite farm should get breakfast like the other guest houses do. For a small spread we were told it would be over $200. We hired a donut and coffee truck, and did a large charcuterie board for cheaper than that. I wish in the initial meeting we had a few more things explained to us on the process or small details like the seating chart. Small things like being told the wrong number of seats at the tables and having to completely redo our seating chart 4 days before the wedding were a little frustrating. Everything did turn out incredible, and I absolutely would book the venue if I did it again, but some small things to be aware of!
Millsite Lodge was the PERFECT place to have our wedding! It was the most beautiful location I could have possibly imagined. Ranae and Beth were amazing throughout the whole process; they truly showed how much they cared about my husband and I’s special day. Being able to stay on site the day before and day of the wedding was also so fantastic and convenient; the house was wonderful for my bridal party! Every single thing was amazing and I wouldn’t change a single thing.
If you want your wedding experience to last more than one day Millsite Lodge is the place for you. We were there from Friday afternoon until Sunday 11am. There is so many positive thoughts going through my mind I don't know where to begin. Other than the pictures of the location.... the fact that I had my ceremony and reception at the same location, both in walking distance is what caught my eye. This place is family owned and the sweetest, kind hearted people you will ever work with. They made sure to make the planning processes as easy going as possible. I became really close with Renae, one of the owners. I'm sad I won't be planning a wedding with her anymore. She was FANTASTIC! I got married at Millsite on 11/5/22. My friends and family still can not stop talking about how beautiful the venue is and how delicious the food and dessert were. My husband and I are so thankful for Millsite making our day so special.
This past weekend we got married at Millsite Lodge. Thankfully the weather was PERFECT and we were able to get married outside between the trees with the beautiful property making the perfect backdrop for pictures, and then had the reception under their pavilion. The venue is absolutely stunning and with the elevation decoration package, it made it even more beautiful. So many people raved about the site, loved walking along the creek looking at the trout, the vintage bikes, and the fire pit. Ranae was a pleasure to work with and was very prompt with responses and made sure it was everything we dreamed of. Having the option to have the property for the whole weekend, along with lodging, was a huge plus! Overall, everything about the Millsite Lodge property itself was perfect, the only negative thing is that you have to use The Colonnade food, which was kind of disappointing. The hors d-oeuvres were all cold and half the guests said their food was cold and dry, but everyone RAVED about their rolls and their specialty salad. Personally, my portion of bourbon chicken was fantastic, but the pork was super dry. All in all, we would recommend having your wedding here! Ranae and Dan are a super nice and an easy to work with couple! Definitely check this hidden gem out!
This is a gorgeous venue with an amazing couple, Ranae and Dan, working tirelessly to give you the perfect wedding. The accommodations were perfect for our family and friends to be able to be together the whole weekend and share in the excitement of our daughter's wedding. The morning of the wedding presented us with some extreme weather challenges, but Ranae and Dan allowed us some flexibility and with a lot of team work everything turned out beautifully. Many wonderful compliments from our guest about our venue choice and the delicious food served at the reception. We would definitely recommended you consider Millsite for you upcoming wedding venue.
Beautiful setting, wonderful food, and a fantastic family business. Overall, we rate our experience as a good one.
If you upgrade to specialty linens, be aware that the color ivory is more of a buttercup yellow and not a true ivory. On the eve of our wedding, we saw the color of the linens for the first time and they were very yellow rather than an off-white. It was not a neutral color at all, and it clashed with the coral on the tables and the ivory chair sashes in a sour way. Millsite Lodge did a nice job quickly finding white table cloths to cover our tables on the morning of the wedding, because I refused to put a clashing yellow on my tables (my colors were peach, pink, and coral). I did have to downgrade from linen napkins to paper napkins so that we could have white napkins; however, I still paid for the linen upgrade and did not get any of that money back.
There were a few hiccups in communication. A week prior to the wedding, I discovered that the cheesecake bar hadn't been ordered by The Colonnade. I am thankful that I am a micro-manager going over all the fine details carefully--no dessert for my guests would have ended disastrously. That was definitely a bit of unnecessary added stress along the way.
Just a few days before the wedding, I discovered that a flavor we selected for our smoothie bar was never actually available... and I'd already had menus printed. I had to bear the cost and time of having our menus re-printed.
Millsite Lodge recommended a DJ for our reception called Five Stars. This DJ played a huge part in ruining our special evening. The wrong song was played when I came down the aisle. The Bride & Groom's first dance song was "mixed" and the voice in the song sounded like Minnie Mouse on drugs. The DJ didn't follow our timeline and played the Groom/Mother dance when the Bride/Son were on the dance floor. We did a panicked switch. We tried to do the Bride/Son dance again, and he played the wrong song (and it was country music!). The wedding coordinator from Millsite asked me if I wanted a redo on the Bride/Son dance because it was so horribly done the first time (he even announced it was a Father/Daughter dance and my dad wasn't even at the wedding...awkward!). I told the wedding coordinator we would like a redo... and it never happened. There were more issues but this is a Millsite review. Again, Millsite isn't affiliated with this DJ, but I never would have trusted this DJ's services or hired them without Millsite's recommendation. My wedding was $25,000 in total and he came pretty darn close to ruining it. Yes, we were celebrating our love, but music is a huge part of that celebration. Even as we walked down the aisle at the ceremony, the music (again, the wrong song) was also crackling loudly with static on the speakers.
Be aware of the unpredictable Ohio weather when you decide to go for an all-outdoor wedding. We had discussed the rain plan 7 months prior, thinking "that won't happen to us" and it almost did happen to us. It caused 10,000% stress. If you book this property and there is a 30% chance of rain, you have to be okay with your ceremony under the pavilion... a 30% chance of rain in the state of Ohio isn't hard to get on any given day. I did, however, still get married under the trees after a lot of behind the scenes juggling by Millsite moving my ceremony back & forth once the surprise rain passed.
Overall a good experience. This is a beautiful property run by good people.
