My husband and I got married in the rose garden at Boerner and decided to have our reception elsewhere. We also rented the dressing room in the Garden House for about 3 hours. My h...
usband and his groomsmen arrived before I did and were never told which part was actually rented out to us. They ended up taking over a space we did not pay to rent out unknowingly. Once my bridesmaids and I arrived, we were behind schedule. We were quickly getting ready and I ended up taking photos with my mom in the area we had not rented out (unknowingly). A staff member came in and very aggressively stated we were not allowed to be in the space we were in and that we would need to pay for the space we were occupying. We quickly cleaned up the space and moved into our rented area. Although I understand we were in the wrong space, there are a lot of different ways this situation could have been handled. I was embarrassed that everyone around me had to scramble to clean up the area when we
were already behind schedule. To top it off, wedding days are stressful enough for everyone. There was no reason for the staff member to speak to anyone the way she did. A simple, "I'm sorry but you did not rent this area out. Would you please move your belongings into the other room?" would have been enough for us to comply. The ceremony space itself was beautiful and chairs were setup nicely. However, for the amount of money we had to pay in the end, I would have appreciated a little more grace on my wedding day.
There was no issues when it came for the caterer & decorator to get in & set up so that was a plus, everything was clean & there was no major issues finding where everything was.
The South Shore Pavilion in South Shore Park is a beautiful building with amazing scenery, and it worked great for our wedding. The rental rates were reasonable, and the building ...
allows you to use any caterer you want, and to bring your own alcohol, which really cut down on costs! The interior of the building is very pretty, the big windows show the lake, and let in a lot of light. Set up required some organization, the park and building managers don't allow you to store things there the night before, and we had to be completely out of the building by midnight. We had the ceremony outside, which was beautiful, but there was a lot of goose poop on the grass that the guests had to dodge, and when we went to rehearse the night before, there was a big pile of brush right where we were having the ceremony, it was still there the day of, but we called the park manager, and he got rid of it before the ceremony started. Also, the building does not have air conditioning, so having a July wedding there was a big risk; for us it worked perfectly, it was 70 degrees outside, and had rained all day, so inside it was comfortable. But it could have been very uncomfortable if it had been hot outside. Despite these issues, overall the building was perfect for our wedding, it provided both a beautiful interior and exterior for the whole night.
We had our wedding at Grant Park in South Milwaukee. The site was beautiful. The Parks employees originally forgot to unlock one of the rooms but once my Husband and Brother-In-Law...
talked to one of the guys he came right over and opened it up. On the Monday following the Wedding my Mother thought that something may have been forgotten at the site. We stopped by and talked to one of the employees and he came right on over to the site and unlocked the door. He also followed up with his team to have them keep an eye out for it. They were so friendly and accommodating to everything we asked for.
