For over twenty years, the Milwaukee String Quartet has delighted hosts and guests in the Milwaukee area at weddings and special events. We are not contractors: we are the musicians who play when you book us!
Although we prefer to perform as a quartet, as we feel that combination provides the most satisfying and beautiful sound, our group can also be hired as a trio, duo, or solo instrument. Other types of instruments or voices can be added if desired.
We have the experience and the passion to create the perfect atmosphere for your wedding or any other special event.

I have been active in the Milwaukee area music scene since 1985; teaching private violin and viola lessons and performing in area orchestral and chamber groups as well as performing for weddings, parties, and special events with The Milwaukee String Quartet and other area music services.
I love performing all types of music- from classical to current pop.

We had the absolute pleasure of having them play at our wedding, and they were incredible! Their music added such a beautiful and elegant touch to our ceremony—so many of our guests came up to me afterward to say how much they loved it and how special it made everything feel.
Their timing was flawless. The songs I chose for the bridal party and for myself walking down the aisle were played perfectly. I had requested they learn “At Last” by Etta James for my walk down the aisle, and when they played it, it was even more beautiful than I had imagined. It’s a moment I will never forget—definitely a core memory from our day.
I’m so grateful our videographer was able to capture the ceremony, because listening back to their music brings back all of those special feelings. If you’re considering live music for your wedding, I can’t recommend enough. They made our day even more magical!

The most amazing experience ever. I swear if you have a love for being a princess in fairytale type of wedding, having a string quartet play makes that dream a reality. I was so impressed, and it was even more amazing than expected. JoAnn made sure that we had the best performance, and really took the time to help me plan exactly how I pictured everything. They are beyond talented players, who are very skilled and accommodating to the requests that we had. We talked about the performance for days after, and it was everyone's highlight. If you are looking for an elegant and classy music selection as well as some fun popular songs, I would hire them over any other band or dj. I am so thankful for the atmosphere they were able to provide. The whole thing was a wish come true!

Absolutely amazing. Reasonably priced, extremely nice, and exceeded our expectations. They even learned more songs on the violins then we had asked for to make our ceremony so special. JoAnn was quick to respond and so accommodating. We got so many compliments on them!

If I could give 6 stars I 100% would. It was always my dream to have something like this at my wedding and oh my gosh did they BLOW my expectations away. They are so talented. They played all of the songs that I had requested. I cannot say how happy I am that I went with Milwaukee Strings. JoAnn is also such a pleasure to work with. She is so kind and just truly a lovely person. Now I'm just looking for another excuse to use them again!

We worked with Joann for organizing our live music for our ceremony and cocktail hour. She was so incredibly kind, and worked hard to make sure the "vibes' of the music matched what I wanted. She even learned "invisible string" by Taylor Swift upon my request, and it was so beautiful. The entire group was timely, kind, and sounded amazing. We are thrilled with the services provided by this talented group of musicians. Our guests loved the beautiful mix of classic and contemporary selections. Their head musician, JoAnn, is the sweetest lady. Unfortunately, she injured her finger right before our wedding, but she found a suitable replacement immediately and the quality was not sacrificed in the slightest. Our ceremony and cocktail hour felt elegant and just so lovely with their help. Worth it 100%!

We used the Milwaukee String Quartet for our wedding cermemony in August. Joann was very responsive and took initiative with communicating with the music director at the church as well. They have a huge repertoire of songs that they are comfortable with, and were even willing to play some non-traditional wedding music, like a beautiful rendition of Raiders of the Lost Arc. We were very much pleased with this group.

Outstanding! From initial contact to the day of my daughter’s wedding. This group knocked it out of the proverbial “park”. Great communication, music selection advice, and blending all of this with the ceremony itself, just super. I must say the professionalism and the music was the best I have ever heard at any wedding( and I have been to a hundred or more at this point). The Milwaukee String Quartet went above and beyond our expectations. JoAnn was extremely responsive and helpful during the planning process and they created the absolute perfect sound for our ceremony space. Cannot say enough good things about the quartet! They played our ceremony and two hours after during our cocktail time, and they were absolutely wonderful. We did our first dance to them playing, and they worked with us to make sure the choreography we were learning would align with the music they arranged for us. It was absolutely beautiful and exactly what we were hoping for. JoAnn even helped us figure out what to put on the programs. Again I can't say enough good things about the Milwaukee String Quartet, they definitely made our garden party wedding magical!

We hired Milwaukee String Quartet to play our ceremony music. JoAnn was incredibly easy to work with throughout the planning process. They even learned a new song for us, which was wonderful. We were originally intending to have an outdoor ceremony, but potential rain forced us to move it indoors. JoAnn again was very helpful and reassuring when we were deciding whether to move indoors as we had to decide a day in advance. My only regret is that I wish we hired them to play cocktail hour, so I could have personally enjoyed hearing more of their beautiful music.

Read the contracts. We decided to work with Milwaukee String Quartet and what a wonderful experience that ended up being. We sent over a few requests about 4 months out and just like everything else; time got away from us and I forgot to send over the remaining list. 4-6 weeks out, JoAnn contacted me and we finished the list. They were very accommodating and the library of music is very extensive. The quartet added a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony and cocktail hour. It was the perfect addition to our special day. Do I recommend Milwaukee String Quartet? YES

Not everyone would have stayed to play through an intense rainstorm under a tent like this group did for our wedding. They went above and beyond from the beginning to make this a special element of our wedding from discussions on all the songs we wanted them to play, help to plan ceremony music timing, learning new songs we requested outside of their already large repertoire, and then to played the most amazing medley of music for our big day. Milwaukee String Quartet played our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour music. JoAnn put a lot of thought into planning the music selection based on my ideas, and was flexible when I changed my mind a couple times on specific songs! The quartet played beautifully and the music created the perfect atmosphere at our wedding. The music we chose was a combination of traditional and contemporary songs, and I can’t imagine it coming together any better than it did! I am so grateful we hired a quartet and would absolutely work with Milwaukee String Quartet again!

cant say enough thanks to Milwaukee string quartet they were very easy to work with highly recommend! i was so wrapped up so didn't get to hear to much of music but i definitely got compliments on the music!!! I was disappointed that some of what I had asked to be done at my wedding was not done. I asked simply for 20-30 minutes of prelude music in addition to the processional and recessional selections and they apparently opted out of that time. I paid a fair price and expected a little more. Some of my guests (who are also musicians) thought that they seemed under rehearsed as well. Sort of disappointed, unfortunately.

The Milwaukee String Quartet was wonderful to work with! JoAnn is so easy to talk to and was great at providing suggestions and ideas and even offered to write an arrangement for a song they didn't have. JoAnn also took it upon herself to contact our church and practice the morning of the wedding together. It was beautiful and I'm so happy we went with them.

It was very easy to work with them - I requested a song to be played that they didn't know, and they were able to learn it within a few weeks of my wedding! I was able to choose every piece of music played - even specific prelude and postlude songs. It was great to have live music at my ceremony.
