Minden Opera House is a beautiful historic wedding venue in Minden, NE. Constructed in 1891 by veteran Wray Thorn, the building was used to stage shows that delighted and entertained. From plays and dances to traveling bands, The Minden Opera House was a lively place of recreation and amusement.
In the late 1940s, all entertainment ceased until 1997, when the Kearney County Community Foundation purchased the building. The foundation received two generous bequests and decided to remodel the structure from top to bottom. A gorgeous stairway was added, along with a gift shop, art gallery, and meeting rooms. It took many years to complete the ambitious project, which was achieved with the help of grants and donations. On Memorial Day of 2000, the newly refurbished Minden Opera House held its grand opening. Today, this stunning location is the center for the arts in South Central Nebraska and surrounding areas. The Mural Arts Company in San Francisco created the beautiful painting found on the Opera House ceiling. With its rich history and stunning architecture, the Minden Opera House is a unique venue for weddings and receptions. For a versatile setting, the artistic Theatre space is ideal. The area can host up to 275 standing guests and 192 seated. If couples choose to have an intimate gathering, the lovely Upper Lobby has a maximum capacity of 40 guests.

or, Penny, and the rest of the team’s communication needs serious improvement. Penny was rude to my family and bridal party, tried going against the things I had planned for the ceremony and at multiple times yelled at my groomsmen. While the other employees lacked the communication you should have at this level (and price). Be more professional. The “open” bar she failed to mention already included their tip for the night though that was NEVER mentioned to me. A bridesmaid had to cover the rest of it so we would have enough drink tickets for everyone. Which means I ended up tipping less than I originally was going to- because they decided how much they deserved to be tipped and this was never mentioned to me in the planning stage! While I loooved this venue, I really struggle to give it 5 stars based on the lack of professionalism from the staff alone.
