Second: My husband had one request for a specific song to play as the last song of the night and we had to beg him to play it. We got our wish …but the lights were all on and he played it super quietly… not the vibe we wanted for our last song. Third: During our wedding when we were trying to get guests from the dining room to another room for dancing he came up to me and said rudely “your family isn’t listening to me so it’s your job to get them in here now” … um wtf? Lastly, at the end of the night once it was time to go home he came up to my husband and I (as we are both an emotional wreck leaving our wedding night) asking when we were going to pay him the rest of what we owed. DUDE you could have asked at any other point… not as 1am as the bride and groom are leaving their wedding night. He also was hard to communicate with and would say “sorry life has been getting in the way” when he wouldn’t reply for days. I had a great wedding day and our dance floor was a party but I would not use Tim if I could go back and do it again.

He had a lot of great suggestions as well, which helped things to flow seamlessly day of. One of my favorite suggestions was to record a message for my husband that would be played prior to going down the aisle, everyone loved this! Tim also had mic packs for us to ensure that all of our guests would be able to hear our responses during the ceremony. The reception was also amazing, Tim played exactly what we asked for, and kept people on the dance floor all night long! We got so many compliments on how good Tim was, everyone loved him. He also offers an "audio guestbook" where guests pick up a phone and leave a voice message for the couple, which is then compressed into a digital file for you to listen to later. Super cute and a very unique/fun twist on the traditional guestbook! Tim also did a great job at making sure we stayed "on task" and that there wasn't a lot of waiting around before moving on to the next thing, whether that was pictures, dinner, speeches, etc. We cannot recommend Tim and the Minnesota Wedding Party enough! Thank you Tim!!!

It was very convenient to have one vendor for both DJ and photo booth. The booth comes with props and an attendant, and she makes a photo book for you by the end of the night! We asked him again, and said if he turned his music down, that would be a sign for people to return to their seats, and my husband could use the microphone to let people know the speeches were going to start. He would not consent to doing this until the manager of the venue came in. We believe he was irritated with us after this, and he played music that our daughter had on her “do not play list” all night long. He also stopped playing the music one hour earlier than he was supposed to. He was very arrogant and it was all about him. It was not Tim Folkenson that showed up that day, It was his brother. We don’t understand why he wouldn’t keep to the Brides timeline of when she wanted the music turned down so the speeches could start. Then for us, the parents to request a few times for him to turn it down thinking he maybe forgot the timeline. It ended up being 50 minutes later and also causing stress that wasn’t needed that day! s, Tim guided us through everything we needed to know regarding the DJ services for our ceremony and reception. He was incredibly helpful in making recommendations as we selected music and made decisions around ceremony and reception logistics. My husband and I got married at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, and Corey from Minnesota Wedding Party was our DJ. Corey is awesome! We appreciated that he is intimately familiar with the venue and its staff. Corey helped ensure the flow of the evening was seamless. He is very professional and did such a great job with music selection, announcements, and keeping the fun going throughout the evening. We added on the Mirror Photo Booth from Minnesota Wedding Party, and we are so glad we did! It was a huge hit with our guests and so fun for my husband and me to receive a photo album with all of our guests’ photos. The photo booth was staffed by Mel, who was so fun and great with our guests. She really did a fabulous job! The photo booth was an amazing addition to our reception that we would highly recommend to others.

Tim knows Chanhassen Dinner Theatres inside and out. They did the sound for our ceremony and worked with our videographer to support microphones for staging, recording, and live-streaming. He also gave us fantastic suggestions for our ceremony processional, as well as photoshoot spots for our photographer. Tim thinks of every detail that can make your day magical and does their best to deliver on it. His music choices and mixings were incredibly fun and he helped keep everyone dancing for hours. An additional note: we are an LGBTQ+ couple and Tim always made us feel respected and valid. They are simply an amazing human being that truly cares about their clients. Seriously, any couple looking for a wedding DJ: book Minnesota Wedding Party. You won’t regret working with them. We definitely don’t. :)

e did an incredible job with both the ceremony and reception. We were pleased with sound quality at our outdoor ceremony, guests could hear from every seat! The same goes for the reception during speeches. Throughout the night Jeff would check in to see how everything was going, which I thought was sweet. The music flowed nicely throughout the night. Tim was very responsive by phone and text while planning and gave me some great ideas when I was at a loss picking out songs for certain parts of the ceremony and reception. He has top of the line equipment and everything came through so clearly for both our ceremony and our reception, even my dad who is a total audio nerd was impressed! My uncle was our officiant and he was also very impressed by Tim and thankful for his help and preparedness prior to the ceremony. I added in a couple of readers very last minute and forgot to tell Tim but he came prepared for everything and it ended up working out perfectly! Tim also was able to make 2 very special things happen for us. We were able to give him a jump drive that had a speech my late grandfather did at our original backyard wedding on it and he was able to play it during our ceremony. It came through so clearly and there was not a dry eye in the crowd. He was also able to play a youtube video that one of my uncles made during our ceremony on his TVs that he brings and that was a big hit! He kept the dance party going all night and we got comments from all of our guests saying how great Tim was and how much fun they had! They also bring TVs that play music videos of each song during the dance portion and during dinner they display all of the pictures your guests post using your hashtag! Everyone loved it! You will be so happy with yourself if you book Minnesota Wedding Party for your event!

Not only did I receive a dairy free salad and entree (the same time as everyone else received their meals) but he found me in the reception to ensure it had come out properly. It was at this time that I realized he was the DJ and event host and not affiliated with the event center. All I can say is THANK YOU THANK TOU THANK YOU. Tim goes above and beyond and anyone looking for a DJ should definitely go with him.

to COVID, Tim was unphased by new challenges and did everything possible to still make our day awesome. Minnesota Wedding Party actually traveled all the way to Iowa for us! He worked seamlessly with all the other vendors to keep the entire day running smoothly, eliminating all stress from me. From the ceremony to the reception, our day was perfect because of Tim's confidence and expertise. Tim prepared a livestream to help with social distancing and also game show activities in the case that we wouldn't be able to have a dance. Luckily, we did get to have a dance and it was better than I could've imagined - I actually heard many guests say they had never been to as fun of a dance in their lives. The floor was packed all night long. Oh, and did I mention he made sure every person in the wedding party had drinks all night long?! Tim is everything you need in a DJ and more - look no further for your next event!

Unfortunately Tim was working another wedding the same day as ours- but luckily we had Jeff come and be our DJ! He introduced himself right away the morning of the wedding- and he knew exactly what to do and when to do it! Tim filled him in on everything. Jeff was there from beginning to end and CONSTANTLY checked in on us to make sure everything was going well, ask any questions, and even brought us both a beer a few times when he noticed our hands were empty :) SO appreciated! He read the crowd very well throughout the whole day and always had the right kind of genre to play during different parts of the day. y flexible when we added the shoe game in literally 5 min before the dance started! The photo booth and photo book was also a fun touch that was exciting to look through with my husband the next day! He also had an awesome electric piano that he allowed my brother to use for the singing of our first dance at no additional cost! The reason I gave them a 3 star review is that it was very difficult to get in touch with Tim and as a very detail oriented person I was incredibly stressed not getting in touch after the original booking until about 2 weeks before our wedding. Another issue we had is that photos and videos of our wedding were not only posted on his business Instagram but also on his daughters (who was running the photo booth) personal Instagram. We had our wedding on a Friday so we got the photo booth for “free” however during dinner he asked me if I had a vase they could use for tips at the photo booth. When I told him I did not want there to be a tip jar as it would detour guests from using it he was very understanding and did not put it out. In my opinion that should have been discussed before hand and not while I was eating dinner during my wedding. All in all Tim is a great DJ and charges a very reasonable price. If I were too do it all again I i would still use Tim I would just have had talked through specifics a little more and asked that my wedding not be put on his daughter personal Instagram page.

He was open to phone calls or any other planning needs throughout the process (and he'll tell you texting/calling his cell is the fastest way to get him). MUSIC: Tim's brother, Jeff, was our DJ and helped every part of our night run smoothly. He was so thoughtful, checking in with my husband and me throughout the night to make sure we liked the music and how everything was going. He also made great recommendations to make the night fun and special (note: if he asks you to do one special thing before your last song, say yes - I don't want to spoil the surprise but it was a total highlight for us). Our dance floor was full all night long and we even had guests cheer for one more song as we wrapped up what we planned to be our last dance. Couldn't have asked for a better night. PHOTO BOOTH: We also got our photo booth through Tim and it was perfect. A great classic photo booth at a totally affordable price. Mel, the attendant, was the sweetest (we had multiple guests share great experiences with her) and she made a photo book for us with every photo strip taken that night (along with extra copies) - it was so fun to look through the next day!
