We had Minnie's cakes at our wedding, and couldn't have been more thrilled with our choice.
We wanted to serve our guests - who were coming from the U.K., Egypt, Germany and the ...
West Coast - something sweet and truly delicious, ideally local, and budget friendly. Having tried a host of traditional tiered wedding cakes, which we mostly found to be quite dry and often extraordinarily expensive, we opted for cakes from Minnie's, which we'd had at a friend's birthday and LOVED.
(I also thought the square shape of the Big Minnie's was chic and fresh, and the fact that the cakes had 'naked' edges with no icing: they were light, flavourful and not remotely cloying.)
We got our florist to provide some edible flowers for the top, and cut one carrot cake and one pistachio cake on the day, with little Minnie cakes in chocolate chip and gluten-free salted caramel.
Every single bite of every single cake was delicious, and our guests - all of whom have been to fancier weddings than ours - raved about how good they tasted (a host of them left our wedding with cake to go).
Throughout the entire process, Cathy - Minnie's inimitable owner - was a joy to work with. She was responsive to emails, deliveries of both our test cakes and the wedding cakes were exactly on time, she gave truly great advice on flavours, and really looked after us in a way that made our day extra special.
We would recommend these cakes, and particularly Cathy, to absolutely anyone without a moment's reservation. It was one of the great choices we made on our wedding day.
I just got married last night and my experience with Minnie's bake shop was so amazing I had to write a review immediately! The process of working with Cathy was such a breeze beca...
use of her kindness, organization and efficiency - she helped me choose flavors, just the right amount of cupcakes and provided beautiful display trays. Not only did the cupcakes look beautiful but they were more delicious than any other cupcake I've ever had (this sentiment was felt by all of our guests as well) - so good that my husband and I ate the few leftovers first thing this morning. We chose red velvet, maples syrup, chocolate mocha & carrot cake. Each were delicious and be sure to include these to make your wedding perfect!
We started by ordering Minnie's cookie sticks and cakes for a September wedding in Brooklyn. We ended up asking Cathy to design and fill the dessert table with her amazing baked g...
oods. It was beautiful. Our guests took home their favorites in small pink boxes as an extra treat. The flavors, too many to list (think burnt sugar caramel, chocolate malt, espresso shot) are unique and made a very special addition to the reception. Working with Cathy was a joy. She made the planning and event both fun and delicious. You will not go wrong making this part of any special event.
Minnie's cakes are delicious, inventive, adorable, colorful and were SUCH a hit at my recent wedding.
Plus, Cathy, the owner/baker is super easy to work with and very flexible w...
ith customization- not that you would need to customize anything because the very CONCEPT of the cake IS customization: just like a wedding cake, you pick cake flavor (of which there are so many), you pick a filling (again, lots to choose from), and a topping (can you say pistachio nut brittle? yum!)
