If you struggle with any disordered eating, eating disorder, or are in recovery this subscription may not be right for you. I reached out with my issues regarding their “sweating for the wedding” box. I am a licensed mental health counselor who... works closing with those struggling with eating disorders and disordered eating and see the impact this explicitly has on my clients.
Their support team responded promptly. I think my biggest issue is that I truly tried to offer solutions to the issues I noticed (i.e. maybe prompt the brides if this is a box they would be interested in before sending, possibly collaborate with a mental health professional or intuitive eating dietitian to make this box more appropriate). My responses did not seem to offer much response. They continued to offer me only shipping cost for my next box, in the next email offering me a free box. I do not want more boxes, I’d like a shift to be made.
The most important thing they could have done is reflect on the impact their boxes can have on people. According to a study conducted at Cornell University, 70% of women wanted to lose weight before their wedding and over one third went to drastic measures. I did offer them resources both through the NEDA website, articles, and a professional mental health suggestion. I can only hope they did take my feedback and are adjusting their future boxes.
