He showed my wife and I a candid shot he took of us with in vineyard and immediately made us cry of how beautiful it was! ng all over his website, “you own the rights to your wedding photos”, however that ownership gives no control over his use of the photos. As soon as we realized his contract gives him full authorization to use the photos he takes we were mortified. We tried to reason w/him for the opportunity to review photos of people/ kids only before he posts them to social media, websites, or shares otherwise and he refused - the photos are his. More worrisome - his website has so many photos, so many private moments kids, family. We are paying for our entire wedding. Working with so many good people and so confused and devastated that paying a photographer a premium to photograph all that we paid for to build our day, to share w/friends and family - he can take and reuse for his purposes. Robert should be paying us to model, the flower lady, the cake lady, because there is no photo w/out the subject! So here we are - foolishly paid the $500 deposit to reserve the date and within a few cold winter days of receiving the contract and going back and forth there was zero progress. Given there would be no peace of mind for our privacy, we refuse to sign the contract and even though Robert had invested only a couple email - he refuses to return any of the $500. Don’t miss this statement in Modern Art Photograph’s contract, “Unless otherwise specified, it is understood that any and all rights to proofs, final or sample prints, thereof shall remain the property of the studio and maybe used for advertising, display or any other purpose thought proper by the studio.”

We hate having our photos taken and weren’t quite sure what we were going for in our wedding photos, but he got many great shots. We also had a bit of a time crunch on formal photos due to getting a late start, but he did a great job with the time we had. He was very laid back throughout the day and did not direct things too much, he mostly just let things happen. He stayed late into the night and made sure to wait until we were ready for a couple particular photo ops before he left for the night. We received our photos back in only a couple of weeks and were impressed with all the different moments he captured. Robert also offered to edit/touch up any of the photos if needed after sending them to us, and he quickly took care of the couple of editing requests I sent him. Robert was awesome and we would definitely recommend working with him.

He went out of his way to pre-view the site, and showed up on our wedding day with a printed list of our requested group shots. We really enjoyed working with him with and chose to work with him not just because of his photography style but also because of his personal style--we felt at ease and in love with each other when working with him. We had a lot of fun on our wedding day taking photos and we wish we had planned more time for the specific shots Robert had in mind--some of the day fell behind schedule and we missed this chance, no one's fault just how the day unfolded. Robert was also really helpful with other miscellaneous wedding day details such as how to work with my dress' train! It was clear that he was passionate about his work. The photos were an informal, fun style, though if we had it to do again we would request more formal, posed shots as well. We also would love to have had some shots of things like our wedding meal and more diverse shots of guests. But he caught all the key moments and we're grateful!

After we decided he was the one he wasted no time in going to our venue to plan the shoot far ahead of time (not promising this is his regular way of operating) but he tended to be very prepared in advance for everything. The day of the wedding was awesome! He showed up far in advance and this may sound petty but he looked the part! He was well dressed and we love his style - he fit in perfectly with our guests. Neither my partner nor I feel comfortable having our photos taken and he made us feel confident. He had tons of great ideas for shots around the venue and was VERY creative. He found this grove of trees nearby and thought it was important enough to take us away from the festivities to grab a couple shots there and he was right. They turned out amazing and we love that he had the confidence to ask us to leave our guests momentarily for what we hired him to do! We got a number of compliments from our guests on his kindness and flexibility - my family got a bit demanding with their own photo ideas and he went with the flow, was very accommodating, and he was always complimenting them with sincerity. He really made everyone feel wonderful! We were happy with the photos. I was a bit surprised to receive ALL the photos and it has taken us sometime to go through them (still not done). There are some real gems in there that we've had framed, given as gifts, and posted to social networks all with great feedback. I do wish that he could have weeded through some of them as it was clear that every single photo (1000+) were worthy of saving but some people really like to have the control to which photos make the cut, which I get. Robert - we loved having you with us on our wedding day and wish you the best. Thanks so much for everything!

I still talk in awe about how you would be thinking, "let's find the photographer to take a photo," then you turn around and he is right there. All together, he was always present but never in the way. Plus—and most importantly—the quality and quantity of photographs were extremely high. He provided an excellent blend of posed shots mixed with authentic, journalistic captures throughout the whole event. We highly recommend Modern Art Photograph.

our engagement shoot, and those photos were so great. Before the wedding, he went out to the venue to check it out, look for photo locations, and connect with the wedding coordinator. On the day of, he showed up right on time, and jumped right in. He had ideas for photos, and would also shoot photos that we had given him as inspiration. All of our wedding party had great things to say about Robert; he was professional, helpful, and great with the kids in our party! The photos themselves were amazing; the turnaround time was about a week and a half, but he put a sneak peek of photos up on his Facebook page less than 48 hours. HIRE HIM, you won’t be disappointed!

Whether it's just responding to a simple question, or being able to view our photographs. We were able to view our Engagement and Wedding photographs within a couple days, and then any touch ups were then done and sent back a couple days after, Within about a week we had our photographs. I was thoroughly impressed with his talent and ability to capture all of the important photos that we will truly adore for a lifetime. Robert is very easy going, and that was our favorite part about working with him. I have been to many weddings where there is a whole team of photographers running the show and you feel as though you are on some reality tv set. That was not vibe we were going for and thankfully by the grace of The Knot we found Robert. Robert was cool to respect the wishes of our Reverend and stay somewhat in the wings during our ceremony, all while capturing some of the most romantic, mesmerizing photographs. We are so excited to share our photos with family and friends and the compliments are endless. Family from afar who could not make the travels said they felt as though they were there looking through the photos. I might add that Robert is extremely reasonable with prices for his services. ith than Robert. Being from Canada, my husband and I were nervous about choosing a photographer as we did not know anyone in the Portland area. Nevertheless, from the very first email I sent Robert, I knew it would be a pleasure to work with him. All of my questions were answered with careful consideration and plenty of detail. When we met up with him, it was evident that his focus was to ensure we got the photographs we wanted to celebrate our wedding day. We were able to convey our needs and it was clear from that meeting that he would do everything he could to ensure they were met. On our wedding day, Robert showed up early and started shooting right away. He checked in with both myself and my husband throughout that day to ask us if there were any particular shots we wanted. He accommodated all of our requests. Unfortunately, it rained on our wedding day, but Robert was extremely prepared for this. He had scouted out locations earlier in the week that would work well if the weather did not cooperate. These locations ended up giving us some of our best photos. His diligence and drive to satisfy his clients was thoroughly appreciated by us. Robert spent the whole day at our wedding. He captured us getting ready, the ceremony, the reception and even the send off. He was there for over 12 hours. Every other photographer I consulted with prior to choosing Robert, did not offer this kind of time frame. The most they were willing to shoot for was between 4-6 hours. Robert had our wedding photos ready in no time. He had them online with a few days, which made it so easy for us to send to family and friends right away. We feel incredibly lucky to have chosen Robert to be our wedding photographer. In addition to being a genuinely kind and considerate person, he is very good at what he does. He has a great knowledge of his craft. We felt at ease on our wedding day because we knew he would take some beautiful shots and we were certainly not disappointed. Robert has my highest recommendation as one of the best wedding photographers...period.

I could tell by Robert's calm demeanor that I would appreciate having him around on our day. I was kind of flying by the seat of my pants planning the wedding, and so I never made a schedule for him, but Robert handled everything very smoothly. He had all of the images ready to see less than a week after the wedding, and I was very pleased with the images of our wedding day. My husband and I agree, your wedding day will go by so fast, you will definitely appreciate having beautiful pictures to remember the event. We never got engagement photos taken, but my husband and I are planning on having a springtime session with Robert. Another great thing about Robert is that he visits each venue before the wedding to make sure that he will photograph you in all of the best spots. This was a big plus for me, and it makes all the difference!

day and was the first to offer going into the gorge to shoot at the horsetail falls and crown point, or wherever we would have wanted to go with no extra charge. We met with him prior to our wedding and he has a great welcoming studio and many portfolios to look at to get an idea of his quality of work as well as his website that is put together very well and is very inviting. He scouted out the Troutdale house and came during our rehearsal time to get an idea of the venue and ceremony location and to make sure he had the proper equipment as well as see how the ceremony would proceed and know the lighting and area of our ceremony. He was early the day of our wedding not only getting to know the location at my friends house where we were getting ready but making everyone feel comfortable, being at ease throughout the entire day, helping in any way he could including helping with the ring bearers and children in getting them to cooperate throughout the day. He made the day fun and stress free. He started well before 10 am and was shooting till after 10pm, all included in his package. We got married on 8/31 and we have already received our proofs yesterday 09/10! His turn around time is phenomenal. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone needing a wedding photographer!

Even though we did a site visit with him before the wedding, Robert arrived to my wedding earlier than I had asked to scope out more places to take great photos. He was well prepared, organized, and made sure we got all of the photos we wanted before he left. Overall he was a great vendor that we plan on using in the future for anniversary or family photos!

He checked in with us throughout the reception, and when the toasts started, he realized we didn't have any champagne, so he went and filled our glasses!! I really had a great experience, I've already recommended him to all my friends and family, I would recommend him to anyone!!
