I knew from looking at all the work that Robert has done for other weddings that I was going to receive something quite exceptional from him. He did not disappoint! I believe I'm a fairly good judge of character. When I met him the first time, I had a strong sense that this was the photographer for our wedding. He stayed in close contact, was incredibly conscientious and aware when he was taking pictures, and did an excellent job catching our fun and serious moments. I really loved how our pictures turned out and will treasure them forever. My wife and I got married earlier this year in Portland and had to plan the wedding from the UK! Robert was so friendly and knowledgable and made the whole process of arranging the photography effortless. Our wedding photos were absolutely beautiful and we couldn't recommend Robert enough!

It was great working with Robert! He was a great communicator before the wedding so I felt very supported. The day of my wedding not everything was going as planned (big surprise). He did a great job working with me, my family, and guests through all the hiccups. Robert got pictures to us in a very timely manner. He took so many pictures I didn't even know I would want. I'm so glad he had the experience to know what things and moments I would want to remember without anyone having to direct him. I love his editing style for the pictures, he kept them very realistic and true to our style and our venue. I don't plan on getting married again, but I would definitely higher Robert again.

Robert captured our wedding beautifully! He was super easy to work with and a pleasant presence at our wedding. We especially appreciated that he wasn't too directive and just let our personalities come through with lots of candid pictures. We needed some help with our pictures two years after our wedding and he responded quickly with the help we needed.

Robert was amazing to work with on our wedding photos. We reached out to him based on his excellent reviews, and he was very professional, relaxed and easy to talk to. We were impressed with his portfolio and also with the fact that he will provide unlimited hours at a reasonable price, as most photographers are far more expensive for less hours. We hate having our photos taken and weren’t quite sure what we were going for in our wedding photos, but he got many great shots. We also had a bit of a time crunch on formal photos due to getting a late start, but he did a great job with the time we had. He was very laid back throughout the day and did not direct things too much, he mostly just let things happen. He stayed late into the night and made sure to wait until we were ready for a couple particular photo ops before he left for the night. We received our photos back in only a couple of weeks and were impressed with all the different moments he captured. Robert also offered to edit/touch up any of the photos if needed after sending them to us, and he quickly took care of the couple of editing requests I sent him. Robert was awesome and we would definitely recommend working with him.

After an extensive search for the right photographer, I can say with certainty, we were very fortunate to have Robert capture our big day. His calm, friendly and respectful demeanor made a great impression on us that lasted from our first meet and all throughout our wedding. He is truly a professional who is willing to work with you both in planning and in adapting to any schedule changes. His prompt responses were and continue to be truly appreciated. When I first booked Robert as our wedding photographer, we decided to start with engagement photos to see if he would be a good match for us. Not only was Robert flexible with this idea but he also hugely supported it as well! Robert is such a professional, kind, and courteous photographer with such a great eye for seeing the beauty in capturing moments. He also listened to what we wanted in our photos but also added his own personal touch which created some truly beautiful photos! We loved how in many of our engagement and wedding photos, Robert was able to capture the feeling of the moment instead of us posing unnaturally. Robert was a lot of fun to work with, and the photos from both our wedding and our engagement shoot turned out beautifully and really captured the joy in our wedding day. Robert kept things moving along when our wedding timeline became somewhat off schedule, and ensured we got all of the photos we wanted with our family and friends. He also provided helpful suggestions of other photos we didn't know we wanted, but are very happy we have. Robert arrived early in the morning and ensured that we got the majority of the staged photos done before the event (which we had requested) so we could be at our wedding and enjoy our day. He stayed and took photos until the very end of our night as we left the space. At the event he captured all the moments we wanted, while fitting into the space in a way that we didn't even notice him taking photos. He really is a joy to work with.

Robert provided us with some extraordinary photos, a large library of well-organized shots, some absolutely beautiful lifetime keeper photos, and was there to support us every step of the way. I would definitely recommend him, and would say to be specific about what you want because he will really work to meet you there if you let him know! He went out of his way to pre-view the site, and showed up on our wedding day with a printed list of our requested group shots. We really enjoyed working with him with and chose to work with him not just because of his photography style but also because of his personal style--we felt at ease and in love with each other when working with him. We had a lot of fun on our wedding day taking photos and we wish we had planned more time for the specific shots Robert had in mind--some of the day fell behind schedule and we missed this chance, no one's fault just how the day unfolded. Robert was also really helpful with other miscellaneous wedding day details such as how to work with my dress' train! It was clear that he was passionate about his work. The photos were an informal, fun style, though if we had it to do again we would request more formal, posed shots as well. We also would love to have had some shots of things like our wedding meal and more diverse shots of guests. But he caught all the key moments and we're grateful!

He arrived early to my wedding venue to scope it out and was super familiar with the area. He had great ideas for shots, and was totally open to our ideas as well. My partner and I loved working with Robert! We started the search for a photographer pretty early and he was one of 5 that we met with in person. We met him at his home with our planner and he was both professional and warm. After we decided he was the one he wasted no time in going to our venue to plan the shoot far ahead of time (not promising this is his regular way of operating) but he tended to be very prepared in advance for everything. The day of the wedding was awesome! He showed up far in advance and this may sound petty but he looked the part! He was well dressed and we love his style - he fit in perfectly with our guests. Neither my partner nor I feel comfortable having our photos taken and he made us feel confident. He had tons of great ideas for shots around the venue and was VERY creative. He found this grove of trees nearby and thought it was important enough to take us away from the festivities to grab a couple shots there and he was right. They turned out amazing and we love that he had the confidence to ask us to leave our guests momentarily for what we hired him to do! We got a number of compliments from our guests on his kindness and flexibility - my family got a bit demanding with their own photo ideas and he went with the flow, was very accommodating, and he was always complimenting them with sincerity. He really made everyone feel wonderful! We were happy with the photos. I was a bit surprised to receive ALL the photos and it has taken us sometime to go through them (still not done). There are some real gems in there that we've had framed, given as gifts, and posted to social networks all with great feedback. I do wish that he could have weeded through some of them as it was clear that every single photo (1000+) were worthy of saving but some people really like to have the control to which photos make the cut, which I get. Robert - we loved having you with us on our wedding day and wish you the best. Thanks so much for everything!

Modern Art Photograph is simply phenomenal. Besides being exceptionally easy and enjoyable to work with, Robert was highly attentive and never missed a shot. In fact, my family and I still talk in awe about how you would be thinking, "let's find the photographer to take a photo," then you turn around and he is right there. All together, he was always present but never in the way. Plus—and most importantly—the quality and quantity of photographs were extremely high. He provided an excellent blend of posed shots mixed with authentic, journalistic captures throughout the whole event. We highly recommend Modern Art Photograph.

We could not have asked for a better photographer. Robert was amazing. he was unfamiliar with our venue and volunteered/asked if he could come out and do a walk through prior to the wedding. That is such an amazing offer from a photographer, even our coordinator was impressed that he came out and stayed for a few hours figuring out lighting and best shots with us. Robert with Modern Art Photograph is an incredible photographer! Aside from his phenomenal talent, he is such a great guy to work with. He was willing to spend all day with us at our engagement shoot, and those photos were so great. Before the wedding, he went out to the venue to check it out, look for photo locations, and connect with the wedding coordinator. On the day of, he showed up right on time, and jumped right in. He had ideas for photos, and would also shoot photos that we had given him as inspiration. All of our wedding party had great things to say about Robert; he was professional, helpful, and great with the kids in our party! The photos themselves were amazing; the turnaround time was about a week and a half, but he put a sneak peek of photos up on his Facebook page less than 48 hours. By far, Robert has been the Best photographer we have ever worked with !! Robert was so kind, and made us feel at ease from the time we met with him and every time since. Robert from Modern Art Photograh is truly a genius when it comes to handling clients and their entourage. We had a large wedding, roughly around 200 people. Our wedding party was scattered and rowdy to say the least. Robert effortlessly managed us behind his many lenses like clay in his palms. I was thoroughly impressed with his talent and ability to capture all of the important photos that we will truly adore for a lifetime. Robert is very easy going, and that was our favorite part about working with him. I have been to many weddings where there is a whole team of photographers running the show and you feel as though you are on some reality tv set. That was not vibe we were going for and thankfully by the grace of The Knot we found Robert. Robert was cool to respect the wishes of our Reverend and stay somewhat in the wings during our ceremony, all while capturing some of the most romantic, mesmerizing photographs. We are so excited to share our photos with family and friends and the compliments are endless. Family from afar who could not make the travels said they felt as though they were there looking through the photos. I might add that Robert is extremely reasonable with prices for his services. For couples like us, he was truly a gift in itself. For all that Robert did I wish we could have paid him double. We can't thank Robert enough for his talent, patience, and overall awesomeness. Everybody at my wedding liked him and he took some beautiful photos. He also met me at 6 am to do a trash the dress shoot. Really appreciated his flexibility and he was great to work with.

Working with Robert was an absolute dream! He did a wonderful job with our wedding photography. The pictures were stunning and we could not have asked for a better person to work with than Robert. Being from Canada, my husband and I were nervous about choosing a photographer as we did not know anyone in the Portland area. Nevertheless, from the very first email I sent Robert, I knew it would be a pleasure to work with him. All of my questions were answered with careful consideration and plenty of detail. When we met up with him, it was evident that his focus was to ensure we got the photographs we wanted to celebrate our wedding day. We were able to convey our needs and it was clear from that meeting that he would do everything he could to ensure they were met. On our wedding day, Robert showed up early and started shooting right away. He checked in with both myself and my husband throughout that day to ask us if there were any particular shots we wanted. He accommodated all of our requests. Unfortunately, it rained on our wedding day, but Robert was extremely prepared for this. He had scouted out locations earlier in the week that would work well if the weather did not cooperate. These locations ended up giving us some of our best photos. His diligence and drive to satisfy his clients was thoroughly appreciated by us. Robert spent the whole day at our wedding. He captured us getting ready, the ceremony, the reception and even the send off. He was there for over 12 hours. Every other photographer I consulted with prior to choosing Robert, did not offer this kind of time frame. The most they were willing to shoot for was between 4-6 hours. Robert had our wedding photos ready in no time. He had them online with a few days, which made it so easy for us to send to family and friends right away. We feel incredibly lucky to have chosen Robert to be our wedding photographer. In addition to being a genuinely kind and considerate person, he is very good at what he does. He has a great knowledge of his craft. We felt at ease on our wedding day because we knew he would take some beautiful shots and we were certainly not disappointed. Robert has my highest recommendation as one of the best wedding photographers...period.

I'm so glad that I decided to hire Robert to photograph our wedding, he's wonderful! My sister was kind enough to schedule appointments with a few photographers, and Robert really stood out. He has a lovely studio where he can show you some outstanding albums of weddings he's photographed, and he's great at capturing the big picture of your day. I could tell by Robert's calm demeanor that I would appreciate having him around on our day. I was kind of flying by the seat of my pants planning the wedding, and so I never made a schedule for him, but Robert handled everything very smoothly. He had all of the images ready to see less than a week after the wedding, and I was very pleased with the images of our wedding day. My husband and I agree, your wedding day will go by so fast, you will definitely appreciate having beautiful pictures to remember the event. We never got engagement photos taken, but my husband and I are planning on having a springtime session with Robert. Another great thing about Robert is that he visits each venue before the wedding to make sure that he will photograph you in all of the best spots. This was a big plus for me, and it makes all the difference!

Robert was an amazing photographer from start to finish. He was prompt to answer all of my emails and greatly helped with timeline for the day. He offers unlimited time for your day and was the first to offer going into the gorge to shoot at the horsetail falls and crown point, or wherever we would have wanted to go with no extra charge. We met with him prior to our wedding and he has a great welcoming studio and many portfolios to look at to get an idea of his quality of work as well as his website that is put together very well and is very inviting. He scouted out the Troutdale house and came during our rehearsal time to get an idea of the venue and ceremony location and to make sure he had the proper equipment as well as see how the ceremony would proceed and know the lighting and area of our ceremony. He was early the day of our wedding not only getting to know the location at my friends house where we were getting ready but making everyone feel comfortable, being at ease throughout the entire day, helping in any way he could including helping with the ring bearers and children in getting them to cooperate throughout the day. He made the day fun and stress free. He started well before 10 am and was shooting till after 10pm, all included in his package. We got married on 8/31 and we have already received our proofs yesterday 09/10! His turn around time is phenomenal. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone needing a wedding photographer!

Robert photographed my wedding last month and did an amazing job!! His professionalism, quality of photos, and personality could not be beat. He caught every important moment on his camera, even the small moments that I did not even realize were important until I saw the photos. Even though we did a site visit with him before the wedding, Robert arrived to my wedding earlier than I had asked to scope out more places to take great photos. We chose Modern Art Photograph after finding him on a gorge weddings website. He did an amazing job! We had Robert take our engagement photos as well and got them back within a week of having them shot. We had Modern Art Photographer do our wedding and couldn’t be happier! Great personality, very professional, easy going, very affordable and an overall great value. We selected the whole day package- which was a great because we got every moment of the day. He showed up while my bridesmaids and I got ready and stayed til the very end of the night! It was nice not worrying about hourly cost or overtime cost that we were running into with other vendors. The quality of the photos were beautiful - unbelievably vibrant and clear! The nice thing, the photos were ready by the time we got back from our honeymoon, we didn’t have to wait for weeks or months to see them. He was also extremely accessible- replied to emails almost instantaneously, always willing to meet with my then fiancé and I for random meetings and willing to do customization of the photos and packages long after the wedding. Overall he was a great vendor that we plan on using in the future for anniversary or family photos!

Robert was a really nice guy who gave us plenty of room to do what we wanted. Unfortunately, we didn't know exactly what we wanted. If he was a little more assertive when called upon and if he took charge a little more, it would have been helpful. Other than that, we were quite happy with how everything turned out.

I went through modern art photography for my recent wedding and am very pleased with the results. He is laid back and was very easy to work with, which helped keep our stress levels low. He was willing to customize his photography to fit our needs as a couple on our special day. We got all the pictures we could have wanted, with excellent quality. Robert was great to work with. His style and packages were exactly what we were looking for. Not having a time constraint really took a big burden off of some of the planning making it easier to relax when planning the pictures.

I can't say enough great things about Robert. We originally decided to choose him because he was the only photographer with a reasonable package under $1,000 that had numerous pictures in his gallery that really had the 'wow' factor. After meeting him, we quickly realized that his demeanor made us feel totally comfortable and he was very unassuming and genuinely a good person to be around! Eventually we decided to upgrade our package and we ended up spending a little more than $1,000, but it was worth it. At the end of the day, we have over 1,000 pictures of ourselves in numerous locations, many different outfits, as we as pictures of our new home and our dog! He was so flexible with our requests. On the day of our wedding, I hardly noticed Robert at all! After the ceremony I asked a friend if he was taking pictures and they told me he was all over the place! I had no idea! He checked in with us throughout the reception, and when the toasts started, he realized we didn't have any champagne, so he went and filled our glasses!! I really had a great experience, I've already recommended him to all my friends and family, I would recommend him to anyone!!

We found Robert through a google search and contacted him because he had great prices and a good online portfolio. When we met him we knew immediately that he would be a great person to work with and we were right! He is laid back and takes direction well, but he also has a great eye and is good at taking initiative when the wedding party needed it.

I was very happy with Robert's services. Normally, I don't like to take pictures but Robert made me feel very comfortable with the whole process. I had met with several photographers before meeting with Robert (Modern Art Photograph), but my search ended there. Not only is he one of the most pleasant people i have met, he is also very professional and courteous. After meeting so many overly arrogant people within this industry, it was so refreshing to sit down with Robert over a cup of coffee and have a great conversation about the wedding and what we were looking for. A few things to remember about Modern Art Photograph when searching for a photographer: 1). He does not have any time restraints! I challenge you to find another photographer that works like that. He did our engagement shoot and our wedding and both were all day events that we paid a flat rate for (not hourly) 2). His prices are great. He actually said to me that he felt some in his industry were charging ridiculous amounts and he would rather book an event every weekend and be doing what he loved than raise his prices. 3). You OWN the rights to the photos and can do whatever you would like with them. He will send you a DVD of all the photos and you don't have to buy prints. That being said, should you desire he will put together a beautiful wedding album for you and your family at a very reasonable cost. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and we love our photos. He captured the energy and emotion of our special day and we are so grateful. Highly recommended!

I had my doubts about using professional photography in my wedding, but now I see why it is necessary. Robert Knapp was extremely helpful, quick to get us the photos, and got the artistic and professional photos that we needed. I was extremely happy with the results. Definitely worth the money.

I cannot say enough good things about this experience. He was an amazing photographer, produced the most gorgeous pictures, and felt like an old friend--not a total stranger. Robert was incredibly easy to work with and did tons of extra work, scouting our destination wedding site the week before our event (and he didn't even charge any travel fees for any of the travel he did). He made us feel comfortable and free to do what we needed on our wedding day while capturing every moment. We never felt forced or posed...it all was very natural and turned out fantastic. My brother and sister-in-law spent over $6000 on their wedding photographer, but we definitely got better pictures from our big day. Great value and excellent photographer. I cannot even begin to explain how wonderful Robert was! We eloped to Oregon and so I did all my research online. I ordered a package that included an engagement shoot and a wedding shoot. Robert picked us up from our rental and took us all around the city for our engagement shoot. He was extremely patient and personable. He made us really comfortable and we were super glad we did the engagement shoot because it made the wedding shoot an even more comfortable experience... On our wedding day, Robert came to the coast and spent the day with us at our venue as well as in different locations along the ocean. By the time we left we thought of him as a friend. He gave us access to our pictures within a week and allowed us to tell him what edits we wanted. The pictures look great! He really did a good job capturing our personalities through the photo! I really wish I knew more people in Oregon so I could refer Robert to all of them! You can't go wrong with choosing him to be your wedding photographer!!

Choosing a photographer for your wedding day is a big decision and I am so happy that we hired Robert to be the photographer for our wedding! He was so attentive, professional, positive, funny, and creative. Before the wedding, whenever I would email Robert, he would get back to me almost immediately. His prices were outstanding for the value and fit into our budget. There were no hidden fees. Since he had never been to our venue before, he took the time before the wedding to scope out the place together so that we can make sure to not miss any photo opportunities during our wedding day. My husband and I are a little camera shy so I had a little bit of anxiety of having our photos taken all day. Throughout the big day, Robert made us feel so comfortable and we could feel like ourselves. We had so much fun during our photo shoot and the pictures show it! When we got the pictures, soon after the wedding, they turned out so beautiful!! I was so surprised on how many photos he took and how wonderful they turned out! He captured EVERYTHING! Throughout the ceremony and the reception, he caught a lot of beautiful candid moments while being so inconspicuous. I didn't feel like the camera was in my face the entire night. It was great! I couldn't be more happier how the photos turned out. They were absolutely beautiful. Robert has been an amazing photographer, he knows just how to catch all the perfect little moments you share with family and soon to be husband. Robert did our engagement pictures as well and they turned out so beautiful! He is a great catch light and little things that most would miss to make a breath taking pictures.

Robert was the very first photographer we met with, and we wanted to work with him immediately! We did our due-diligence and met with other photographers, but he had the best personality, was the most flexible, and had the package that fit our needs. He was so patient with us, and gave us a product better than we could have ever imagined. He was amazing!

Robert with modern art photograph is wonderful and very eager to please. He does not put time limits on anything and takes as many photos as he can to ensure there are a few phenominal photos in the end result of the session. Even with our engagement photos, he drove all over portland with us and spent hours. Needless to say the photos turned out amazing. I am only giving this photographer a 4 because i believe a little more time could be spent in photoshop with the photos. There was only 2 thing i had asked be edited out of the photos (my armpit fat ((that really isn't all that much)) and the razor burn on my husbands neck) upon reviewing the photographs after they had apparently been enhanced, neither of these things were corrected. In the big scheme of things this is a drop in the bucket, i love the photographer, love his style, and would recommend him to anyone. <3

Robert was great to work with; we loved the passion that he has for his work for photography and weddings. After interviewing many other places Robert was the only one that let us have control of our wedding day. He did everything for us from where to go for our engagement session to what pictures we did and did not want at the weddings. He did not stop our wedding flow once to get pictures or take us away from the party, but he made sure to ask that we are getting all the pictures we wanted. He worked well in making sure our day was what we wanted and not controlled by pictures and family photos. I would recommend him to everyone and I hope to work with him in the future with my family and friends.

Robert & Carrie were really incredible to work with . They seemed more like friends than photographers. Each time we contacted them, Robert responded almost immediately. His website gives you everything upfront, there's no hidden costs, he gives you everything you could possibly ask for: time, attention, value, flexibility, guidance, and support. They also follow through quickly on any edits or changes desired to photos, dates, times, etc. I would refer anyone to them without hesitation.

We have nothing but positive things to say about Robert and Carrie. They did an AMAZING job for us!! Robert is very knowledgeable and passionate about his work and it shows. He helped us to choose beautiful spots for our pictures and was so flexible with our schedule on the big day. They managed to maintain the perfect blend of doing some minor directing (to be sure we got some of the important shots) without seeming intrusive in the least. Everything went really smoothly and we have the most memorable moments captured - it was perfect! The images are so beautiful and rich with color! I love what they did with the light during the day and once the sun went down. They also had our pictures ready VERY fast - I have many other friends who have recently been married and had to wait way too long to receive their images. Robert had ours ready only days later! They also did a wonderful job putting up with our crazy family! :) Thank you Robert and Carrie!!!

Robert is a phenomenal photographer. My husband and I researched a lot of photographers before choosing Robert. He incredibly documented every aspect of my wedding. His professional and courteous manner allowed him to work with everyone from my 3 year old niece to my 89 year old grandfather. I could list all day the positive traits that made Robert an absolute pleasure to work with. But, when it's all over, what matters is what develops. And Robert delivered just that. Beautifully, artistic photos.

Robert and Carrie were professional and easy going. The photos look amazing, only 3 days after the wedding and they are done. We had an great experience with them and we definitely will go back to them the next time we are looking for professional great looking family photos.

I loved my wedding photos that Robert did of my wedding. He really captured the moment. My husband and I will always look back at our wedding picutres and remeber that day. Robert and Carrie were really sweet and were on top of everything. They got to our wedding early to set up and they stayed until after my groom and I left. The didn't miss a moment. My husband and I will use them again when ever we need photos done. I highly recommend them to everyone.
