Modern Day Romeos

Where do we even begin! We loved everything about our wedding and MDR took everything to a whole nother level! Jim and team kept the party going, worked the crowd, and did a phenomenal job MCing the evening (this was a minimal fee and 100% worth it!). They were great with meeting with us via phone in advance, helped us craft a playlist in between sets, and brought their own sound/ lighting. We had so many guests tell us that this was the best wedding they’ve ever been to. We had old and young wedding guest attendees on the dance floor- you couldn’t resist and didn’t want to miss out on the fun! We love MDR!!

I have been going to MDR shows at festivals and bars for over seven years and have always had an amazing time laughing and dancing to their renditions of well-known pop, rock, hip hop, and country songs. So when it came time to plan my wedding, they were the first vendor I booked. I planned my wedding date according to their availability (about 15 months in advance). I wouldn't have done this for a DJ or a band I wasn't familiar with, but because I wanted to ensure my guests had more fun at my wedding than they've ever had at a wedding, it was an easy decision. Jim, the lead singer MC'd the wedding and DJ'd between the band's two 75-min sets and after they were done. Everything was super professional and fun. I didn't have to worry about anything and was able to enjoy the night with my guests. I found out after the night was over that there had been considerable power issues at our venue and some equipment was damaged as a result, but you never would have guessed that anything had gone wrong during the event. As I said, the band and their crew were extremely professional and friendly throughout the entire process. My guests are still amazed that our dance floor was constantly full and people were having a great time from start to finish. The thing that makes MDR stand out from other cover bands is how interactive they are with the crowd. They encouraged the kids dance on stage, made room for my brother and his wife to swing dance, and let (willing) people sing into the mic! They also kept song lyrics pretty PG since we had young kids at our wedding, which was much appreciated. Another thing to note is they do travel. They are based in northern Illinois, but they came up to the Milwaukee suburbs to perform at our wedding. If you haven't seen a Modern Day Romeos show, check out their website and go see them! If you don't have more fun at one of their shows than you ever have at a wedding, I will personally tell you that you're wrong.

I had known the Modern Day Romeos from seeing them perform numerous times at bars and festivals. I always had SUCH a great time at those shows. The energy, comedy, talent... just such a great time. So when I decided I wanted to do a concert themed wedding, I knew I had to have a live band and not a DJ. I did research other bands but just could not picture my wedding without them. So they were my splurge and I'm SO HAPPY they were there. My guests were too. Well, they still ARE! My wedding is still talked about as one of the best weddings some have gone to and it is in large part due to the Romeos. Not only do they perform a great set list, but Jim, the lead singer did my announcements and "MC'd" the reception. I didn't have to hire anyone extra and it was included. Do yourself a favor and hire a live band and make it the ROMEOS. You will NOT regret it!!
