This was the one and only place I needed to go. Their dress selection is incredible and THE EMPLOYEES are outstanding. The sweetest owner and the girls she has provide you with the most personable experience. This shoppe came highly recommended to me and I highly recommend to everyone.

I knew even before shopping at Modern Dress that my experience would be 10/10 & it most definitely was. I really didn’t think I would say yes to the dress my first time shopping but I did! My experience was extra special for a few reasons- both Ashlee & Sage were able to help me find the perfect dress & both of them will be standing by my side when I say I do! And on top of that, I am marrying Sage’s brother. I truly can’t imagining saying yes to the dress any other way. Modern Dress has a wide variety & selection of dresses. I tried on so many different styles. Sage & Ashlee were great at finding dresses that complemented me well AND met my mom and grandma’s expectations. Whether or not you say yes at Modern Dress, I guarantee your experience will be top notch and a day to remember.

HIGHLY recommend! Brides you will love love love this bridal boutique. I live in the Des Moines area and went to 3 popular places here and in Ames before finding Modern Dress. I am so happy I made the drive up there! One of my favorite things about them is they have unique designers. Many of the boutiques I went to all had the same people... some dress variety within that designer... but all very much the same, whereas Modern Dress has much more of a variety. I love that they carry an Iowa designer, and although that's not who I went with, those dresses were STUNNING as well. The shopping experience was wonderful and I felt completely safe with the COVID precautions they were taking. The dress I ended up falling in love with is made by a designer that no other bridal store carries in the entire state. I loved knowing it would be unlikely that I'd see any friends with the same dress, and I loved it so much! If you are not in Boone- Modern Dress is SO worth the drive!

From booking your initial appointment all the way through to your wedding day, they're making you feel special, lifting you up, and helping to ease any point of stress. My experience with Modern Dress overall was really great! The shop is clean and gives off a very comfortable vibe when your trying on the dresses which makes a bigger difference than you think! The girls are all very friendly, and I felt like they had a really good eye on what dresses/trends women want to see! I was so happy with my own dress experience, that we went back and got the bridesmaid dresses and tuxes as well. The bridesmaid dresses were absolutely beautiful, but the only negative thing I would say is that the tux sizes were very inconsistent and many had to be reordered. However, they came in on days they weren't open just to make sure we got all the tuxes fixed and handled that very professionally!

They were really great to work with, I’d 100% recommend them to any bride that wants an easy experience!

Modern Dress in Boone, IA is a MUST! They were phenomenal to work with. I never felt pressured one bit! I loved that they were so attentive to me, but also gave me time when needed to discuss thoughts with family members. PLUS their shop is so cute and just a neat atmosphere! Literally SO amazing. I went to two places before going to Modern Dress and found nothing so I was a little hopeless when I walked in. BUT Haley was so reassuring that I would find my dress, and I did. The experience was so individualized and fun. My whole party loved it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

This place was my saving grace! I have shopped at Modern Dress for prom and always had the best experience. When it was time for wedding dress shopping I knew I wanted to go back. The girls there are so nice and they really listen to your wants and needs. If you want to get dolled up in every dress they will put jewelry and a veil on you every time. They are so sweet and so nice and put you first. Also, the selection is unreal! So many styles and shapes for EVERY bride. I can't wait to take my girl friends there and let them try on bridesmaid gowns!

THIS STORE IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!! It had such a beautiful selection of gowns. Literally something for everyone. They were able to squeeze me in last minute, which was so helpful. Modern Dress was the PERFECT place to find my dress. All of the dresses were beautiful and the selection was huge! Ashley was a fantastic help and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! I scheduled my appointment on a Friday at 11 and I had the whole place to myself so I recommend a week day appointment! Highly highly recommend.

Modern Dress was my favorite pre-wedding day experience! I would never have made it all the way to Boone had it not been for their unique selection of wedding gowns. I mean, I visited Minneapolis, Winnipeg, and Omaha. None of these places had the gown I ended up buying. I was adamant that I needed to try on Badgley Mischka's Blake gown. They were the only store that had this gown in the midwest when I was looking for a dress. When I tried on this dress, I knew it was the one. It was stunning and so fun to wear! I loved it and was sold. Aside from carrying amazing gowns, this salon is just adorable. It is a quaint little shop that carries brand names but has gowns that accommodate all budgets. They also have bridesmaid gowns, making it a one-stop shop. But the best part about this shop is the staff. I worked primarily with Sage. She was so kind, patient, and knowledgable. She gave me time to facetime family and show them my gown. I did not feel pressured to purchase the gown. They were most concerned with me finding a gown I was happy with instead of pushing for a sale. I cannot thank Modern Dress enough for carrying my gown and making my wedding gown experience one of my best/favorite wedding experiences. I felt stunning on my wedding day. I definitely didn't want to take my gown off! Thanks ladies for providing such a high-quality experience with some gorgeous gowns!

CANNOT SAY ENOUGH. I actually went to Modern Dress for one of my friends to try on dresses. I had kind of started looking at bridal salons, but didn't know where to start. After seeing how attentive the staff was to my friend, I had to make an appointment the next day. Sage (and Ashlee) treated me like I was the only bride in the world. Their patience, talent for styling, and sweetness made my day so easy. Love love love.

I cannot recommend Modern Dress enough! This was the first place I went to try on wedding gowns, and I had brought my mother, sister, sister-in-law, and 4-year-old niece with me. I spent all morning trying on dresses at a different boutique. I was exhausted and was beginning to feel hopeless, but then I went to Modern Dress that afternoon. The assistants there asked us to take our shoes off which was strange at first, but it turned out to make the experience cozy and gave it an at-home feeling. The first dress the assistant pulled for me ended up being the dress I chose! She had listened to the style and details I was looking for and knew the inventory so well she knew exactly what to pull. I would recommend Modern Dress over and over.

Caroline was great with helping me find my wedding dress. I had a short engagement and only had five months to find my dress. I found the perfect gown and it fit perfectly. Even though it was a new dress they let me take it home! Can't say enough good things about Modern Dress!

I am still in LOVE with my wedding dress, veil, and jewelry I got at Modern Dress for our wedding back in March! It was so fun going there and trying dresses on, and I really believe I found the perfect dress! I ended up going with a two piece dress and would have never even thought about it if the girls there had not suggested it! Every detail of the dress, veil, and jewelry was absolutely beautiful!

The girls at Modern Dress were so sweet and helpful when I was looking for my wedding dress. They truly made it an experience, with champagne and everything! Not only were they very helpful and understanding while I was looking for the perfect dress, they also made it fun for my mom and sister. My sister loves tiaras, and tried to get me to wear one when I was looking at veils. Our stylist brought my sister her very own tiara and veil to try on for fun! It was such a good time. They have a great selection of gowns, and they had the perfect bridesmaid dresses in the shade I wanted, so all my bridesmaids were able to get the store discount since we all bought from there. I ended up ordering the bridesmaids dresses later than I should have and I needed to get them rush ordered and the store was very helpful in that regard too. I would highly recommend shopping here!

Absolutely LOVED my experience at Modern Dress! It was the first place I went looking and Caroline was so good to me! She made me feel comfortable and really listened to what I wanted. She knew exactly the dresses for me, and never once showed irritation because of how picky I was! I ended up choosing the first dress I ever tried on! After going to a couple different places, where I felt like just another number to the consultants, I knew that the experience I had at modern dress was half the reason I chose that one! I am so happy I chose to visit Modern Dress to find my wedding dress. It was well worth the 2 hour drive! My bridal consultant, Jennifer, and the rest of the team at the shop made me feel so comfortable and special! This was my first stop when dress shopping and I found my dress in a short time with the help of Ashley's expertise! She was so helpful, remembering details I liked about one dress and being able to pull another one I liked more but kept previous favorite parts. Everyone we worked with was so personable and there selection of dresses is amazing! We went to another, larger, salon later in the day just to keep trying more but ended up rushing through the appointment so we could get back to Modern Dress where we bought my dress the next day!

LOVED my experience at Modern Dress! Since the day we got engaged, I had heard amazing things about the boutique and knew this had to be my first stop when searching for the perfect dress. I found my dress on my first visit, but wasn't quite ready to "say yes". Later in the afternoon I stopped at another boutique and unknowingly tried on the same dress, which confirmed that it was the dress for me. Because of my earlier experience, I knew I wanted to purchase the dress only from Modern Dress. Not only is their store absolutely beautiful, but their customer service is outstanding. I loved my experience at Modern Dress. I went in the Spring during their sample sale (not expecting to buy). I found multiple dresses I would have loved, but one in particular I couldn't let go so I bought it off the rack and got a heck of a deal! Jennifer was phenomenal and made me feel special! They really abide by your budget and that's extremely thoughtful. Highly recommend!

Modern Dress is THE best to go for anything bridal! The girls there are absolutely phenomenal. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

My dress was beautiful and reasonably priced. the staff was friendly and helpful. I do have a couple of issues with my experience though. They told me most of the bridesmaids dresses were $100-$200, and nearly all of my girls paid above $200, which I felt bad about for them. Also, they ordered the wrong veil for me. The one they got for me worked (not that I had a choice because I was out of time), but it wasn't what I ordered. But the worst part was that they recommended K&N Sewing for alterations, where I had a terrible experience. Overall, I still had a good experience with Modern Dress, but I just wanted to point out some things that could have gone better.

The girls at modern dress are simply the best. I can't thank them enough for helping me (the most indecisive person) find the perfect dress for our wedding day. They were patient and friendly. I'm so GRATEFUL for Modern Dress! I wouldn't have my dream dress without them. My dress journey had been difficult. I purchased a dress my mom and everyone loved, which I loved that they loved, but after some soul searching knew it wasn't the one. I then searched tirelessly for another dress. I was about to give up when I found a WTOO dress online I LOVED. I immediately started calling around to stores that carried the designer and no one had it. I was told I could buy it from them, but that's the best they could do. My LAST call was to Modern Dress. Ashley answered and immediately put my mind at ease. We arranged a loaner dress to be delivered to the store for me to try on. I knew I had a big decision to make when I went in for my appointment. The second I walked in the door my stress and worry melted away. I felt supported, understood, and heck we had fun! Tried on the dress and in an instant knew it was the one. The sincere and genuine response from Ashley and Ashlee made the whole experience even that much more special.

Ashley and her staff are wonderful! Modern Dress was the first shop I had been so I wasn't expecting to find "The Dress" right away. Especially because I had no idea what style or type of dress I wanted or what even looked good on me. Ashley helped me try on a lot of different dress and we found a few maybes, but after she discovered my style and got to know me during the appointment she picked out the perfect dress for my style and body type. Ashley and her knowledgable staff at Modern Dress deliver the absolute experience when it comes to dress shopping. The remodeled space is perfect for you and your entourage complete with trendy couches, gorgeous lighting and just about every dress you could imagine! I bought my wedding dress as well as my bridesmaids dresses from Modern Dress for an Arizona wedding in February 2016 and I coulnd't have asked for a more perfect experience or product. The staff is knowledgable about brands, what fits certain body types, and getting you try on styles that you might now have thought to try on yourself. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my big day other than Modern Dress!

I visited Modern Dress and I found them on The Knot, they seemed as if they had a lot of options for dresses and had quite the amount of reviews. From the feedback I found online I decided to take the 3 hour drive to visit to Modern Dress. I walked into the store and it was not what I expected to see, but I did make the drive so I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I found a few dresses that I really liked from the rack, but they did not fit right. I am borderline petite, sometimes it is hard for me to find the right fit, but I didn't think I would have this issue at a bridal store. My consultant was average and did not do a good job clamping the dress so I could see the full illusion of how the dress would fit me if it was my size. I did love the dress, but I could not get the full visual. I asked the consultant if they had one in at least a size or two smaller and she said they didn't. It was upsetting, because I knew that that could have been my dress, but I couldn't see how it really looked if it was my size.

Absolutely an astounding staff! I had gone to another place to try on dresses. And, honestly want feeling any connection with the dresses. My next stop was Modern Dress, and I seriously cannot brag about how WONDERFUL my experience was! They were super sweet, and Ashley was absolutely wonderful! She knew exactly what I was looking for, in the few words I could describe the "perfect" dress for me! Not only did she help me come under budget for my dress, she helped me pick out 2 different dresses for my big day! Just a HUGE thank you to everyone at Modern Dress! Everyone needs to go there!

Modern Dress has been fabulous to work with for our upcoming wedding. I saw my dress in a magazine and called to see if they had it. They told me they could request it for their trunk show. They received it and I ordered it the same day I tried it on.

An absolutely amazing experience! Everyone in my group was involved in the process and got to help me look through the dresses. I got to try on as many as I wanted. The staff was super helpful and friendly, and the dresses were absolutely gorgeous and were the prices were very reasonable. I will recommend Modern Dress to anyone and everyone!

They had great ideas when I didn't know what jewelry or shoes to pair with my dress and for my girls. Their prices are affordable and quickly corrected an issue I had with one of the bridesmaid dresses. I highly recommend Modern Dress to any bride looking for her special gown and they had lots of other cute clothes in the store too!

Modern Dress was fantastic! After reading other glowing reviews here on the Knot, I drove with my mom and sister an hour away to visit the store. Ashley was extremely helpful, letting me try on many different dresses and helping me find ones that fit my vision. After we looked through my Pinterest board and the selection available, I found the perfect dress! I felt like the store was clean and offered a wide selection of beautiful and affordable options. I didn't feel like the staff were trying to push me out of my budget, but were instead very respectful. I highly recommend this shop to anyone in the Des Moines area!

She helped me find my perfect dress by listening to what I wanted and helping me see what would be best. I felt so at ease and was able to change my mind mutiple times without ever feeling I was a bother. I got my dress in pretty quickly and had no problem picking it up right before the wedding with having stored it for free from purchase to wedding. Modern Dress has been the absolute HIGHLIGHT of wedding planning so far!! Prior to going to their boutique, I had shopped around, but had not found "the dress" yet. When I was greeted right away by cheerful stylists, I knew it was going to be a great experience. Their dress selection is phenomenal. I had many different interests in a dresses, and I got to try them all at Modern Dress. From the time I started picking out dresses to the moment I said "yes" to the dress, my stylist was my biggest advocate. Jennifer always made sure I was comfortable and enjoying the experience. It was an emotional one, and she supported me through it all. Her and a few other employees even stayed after hours to make sure everything was squared away with my order, and they celebrated with me! Although she works with several brides everyday, Jennifer made me feel like the most important person in the world that day. I am so thankful for the wonderful ladies at Modern Dress for making the experience one I will never forget! :)

I highly recommend Modern Dress to any bride looking for that perfect gown! I have been to several bridal boutiques for friends weddings & only one other location besides Modern Dress for my own, I didn't have to look anymore! Ashlee really made the appointment fun & comfortable for my family, friends, & myself. I never once felt rushed & I'm pretty sure we stayed later than they were open. Everyone complemented how they had excellent service & had a lot of fun! It's not very often you get a handwritten Thank You card that is personalized, which I really thought was special. I can't wait to work with them for bridesmaids dresses soon.
