Modern Love Photography

's vision of capturing every couples love story hooked me. On the day of our engagement session I had the pleasure of working with Modern Love's make-up artist Ashlyn. It had been so long since I've been dolled up and even longer since someone used me as their canvas. At that moment I had been feeling a bit down for a couple of months and knew I needed something to lighten my spirits. She was able to highlight what I've been missing when I look at my reflection in the mirror. It was an unforgettable experience and I appreciate Ashlyn and love the work that she did. During my make-up session Katie, Studio Manager and Principle Photographer checked in with Ashlyn and provided the location address to the engagement shoot. She was the person that reached out to us and helped us make the best and easiest decision of choosing Modern Love Photography. Our engagement session was light and fun. We had a blast taking pictures. Denise photographed the session. She knew exactly how to capture our love for each other. We weren't just taking pictures, we were together in love and she captured ever moment. My fiancé decided to purchase an outfit for me to wear for my boudoir session. I had a small panic attack prior to my session and I e-mailed Modern Love for guidance. Brittany, Studio Manager, came to the rescue. Her kind words and support eased my concerns about the outfit that my fiancé bought for me. My boudoir session was amazing! I walked out of my boudoir shoot feeling empowered, beautiful and confident. Denise was is incredible. She made me feel comfortable before, during and after the entire session. My heart skipped a beat when I previewed my engagement pictures, but my jaw dropped when I previewed my boudoir pictures. They were stunning. Absolutely breathe taking. She helped me bring out how I felt in all my outfits and she did it effortlessly. Her execution of every moment was flawless. We are so honored to have Modern Love Photography photograph our wedding. I wouldn’t have picked anyone else.

iancé present and when I wouldn't telling me "thanks for wasting his time" another who when I said their prices were a little out of our budget so I would have to run some numbers and get back to them actually say to me "well you drive a brand new BMW so money shouldn't be an issue." Needless to say when one of my bridesmaids and I met with Denise over dinner she was a breath of fresh air! She made us both feel so comfortable and we loved the sample albums she brought. I left knowing I wanted to hire her as my photographer and my bridesmaid left wishing she could get married all over again just so she could use them too! Shortly after we had our engagement session and we expressed to Denise we really wanted to use our engagement photos in our invitations but those needed to be ordered ASAP because of the turnaround time with the invitation company. Denise Literally stayed up all night and sent me absolutely beautiful images at 4AM so that the invitations could be ordered on time. Next something happened that is a bride’s worst nightmare—the venue where we had planned our dream wedding was forced to close! I emailed all of our vendors to let them know that we were going to have to change locations and possibly the date depending on availability of a new venue. Denise did not just email me back she called me immediately with suggestions of alternate venues she thought would fit our tastes and sent me all of her available dates so that we could make sure we could still work together. You could tell she genuinely wanted to help in any way she could and luckily we were able to find a new venue. Fast forward to the wedding day and I was super stressed everyone was running late getting ready and we had planned to take all of our photos before the ceremony. Denise came in and took charge of the situation which I REALLY needed. We were able to get all of the photos done before the ceremony and then also take some photos after the ceremony of just my handsome groom and I. Denise made everyone feel very comfortable and so did her second shooter (he worked with boys while Denise was with us girls so I can’t recall his name but he was amazing as well). After receiving our wedding photos we were even more in love with Denise. I am one of those people that hates looking at photos of myself I always find something I don’t like and am very hard on myself but I loved the photos and couldn’t wait to show everyone. My mom and grandma cried when they saw them and my husband was so glad we chose Modern Love I know this review is long but I did not want to leave anything out! I would highly recommend Modern Love to any bride I know and we would definitely love to work with Denise again in the future. We got lucky and all of our vendors were amazing to work with but out of all of them Denise is the only one we now consider a friend and we would love to work with her again! When I contacted Denise about her services, she was super friendly and bubbly. When we met with her, she was just as sweet and genuine. She was just as fun to work with at our engagement shoot. I was very pleased with my makeover transformation which is also not an easy feat since I am pretty particular with my hair. The photos from the shoot were adorable. Even my fiancee (now my husband) was going through the shots and saved just about every one as a "favorite" which made me giggle since he is seriously camera shy. For the big day, Denise and her team of two other photographers worked with my family and friends on coaching them through the posing process. None of the photographers even came close to Denise. I loved her style of photography. A lot of her photos looked like candid shots and I liked how not all the pictures looked like they were posing. We booked Denise and she shot our engagement pictures and her and Katie did our wedding day. Denise is amazing! She makes you feel comfortable and she teaches you tricks on how to take a great picture and not just for your wedding. I will definitely book a boudoir session for my husband and I's one year anniversary and also baby pictures when that time comes. at the Bridal Fair in SF a few months before my wedding. What drew me to the Modern Love booth was this photo of a husband whispering into the ear of his bride - she in turn, has this beatific smile on her face. What I liked most about this photo was the intimacy and the true raw emotion that can be seen by the viewer. To my mind this photo encompasses the overall style of Denise and her team - timeless, classy, intimate, and full of emotion. I booked Denise and her team for all of my wedding related photos: engagement, couples boudoir, and wedding day. In all of my experiences with the Modern Love team they were nothing but a pleasure to work with - extremely professional and fun! What I loved most about Denise and Team on my wedding day was both their willingness and ability to know the shots that they want, and to go to any length to get them; i.e. Denise literally laying on the floor to get the perfect shot of my husband and I dancing under the chandelier at our wedding. It is a great shot! To put the icing on the wedding cake, I've had a number of friends and family members complement me on my gorgeous photos. Often noting that they truly look editorial quality, "and should be in a magazine." They can't believe how well every detail of my day wedding was captured. A few months after my boudoir session, I booked an engagement session with Denise, because my wedding photographer didnt offer anything other than wedding day coverage, and again she left me speechless. The pictures were beautiful, and gave me high expectations for my wedding photographer. Unfortunately, the photographer I hired for my wedding did not meet those expectations. Denise set the standard - great customer service, awesome attitude, beautiful portraits, and better yet - she offers you a friendship. Needless to say, I wish I had hired Denise for my wedding day. On all the sessions I have had with Modern Love Photography, I have been more than pleased with the results. You leave feeling liberated and full of confidence. Denise has a way of making you so comfortable, and directs you in a way to bring out your best. I can't say enough about Modern Love Photography, and if I could do it all over again, Denise would be my one and only photographer.

fter our first meeting that Denise was our girl! I've now worked with her team on a few occasions- our engagement session, a budoir photo shoot, and of course the wedding. Denise and Katie are amazing at what they do, and they do a nice job of putting you at ease in front of the camera. I did the budoir session as a surprise grooms gift, and the girls made me feel so comfortable and beautiful during the whole process. I had never done anything like that and it was so much fun... my husband LOVED his little black book! As for the wedding day, Modern Love definitely delivered. Denise and Katie are a crazy efficient team and were great from start to finish. We havent seen the wedding photos yet, but I am sure we'll love them. Here are a couple things I believe set them apart from some of the other photographers out there: 1)They are truly committed to their work and will go above and beyond to make your special day seamless. I found out during the middle of my reception that Denise was actually really sick and had been in the hospital the day before. She was so ill that she ended up back at the hospital right after our wedding :(I never would have known given the way she was moving all over the place, crawling on the floor at times to get a good angle! Talk about being a trooper.. I would have been in bed somewhere, but not Denise. The point is, Denise and Katie are a great team and will not let you down! 2)They know how to take control and manage large groups of people. We had a really large wedding party and an even larger group of family members that needed to be organized for photos..not easy to deal with I'm sure, but Modern Love handled it like true professionals. The day after the wedding I had a number of people from our family and bridal party tell me how awesome our photographers were and how they were impressed with they way they handled such a large group. 3) They make it easy. Most of us aren't naturals in front of a camera, and Denise and Katie realize that. They provide great direction and will tell you exactly where to stand, place your hands, tilt your head, how to smile, etc.. whatever it takes to get the perfect photo. Thank you Modern Love team for all of your work on our big day! Can't wait to get the photos back!

When I met with Denise and Katie I knew I had made the right choice. They made sure that we were comfortable and also having fun but that we still left knowing we had taken some awesome pictures. She was also amazing working with my special needs sister who was in the wedding party. Not only was she amazing helping us through the process and during the day but final product was amazing! I could not have asked for more. I’ve had so many compliments and I’m always referring her to friends and family. Denise and her staff were amazing to work with. From initial contact to the delivery of the final product Denise was extremely attentive and patient. I definitely recommend her for your big day! She will deliver!

We have a HUGE family and Denise and her team were so warm and gracious to not just us, but our entire family and all of our guests. Even my groomsmen had a good time with Denise, Katie and the team. They rock at making us guys feel super handsome!! We looked like we were in a magazine. Kick ass! My wife and I were stoked when we got our photos. They are pretty amazing. I can't stop looking at how beautiful my bride looks. Oh and if we are talking about how hot my bride is... guys... Modern Love does boudoir sessions and my wife totally surprised me and did a boudoir session. She had her maid of honor bring me my album while I was getting ready. BEST GIFT EVER. My wife is smoking hot!!! And the best part is that she felt hot for once and saw how gorgeous she is the way I see her. Pretty cool. My fiance and I setup a consultation with Denise and right after we left we both knew they were the team to capture our day. I do not regret it one bit. Our images are GORGEOUS. I am really shy when someone is taking my photo and so is my fiance. Denise and her team made us feel so comfortable and at ease. At our engagement session my fiance (now hubby!) and I had such a great time. The modern love team is skilled in knowing how to pose and direct without it feeling like a boring chore. We had a BLAST. I am a plus size girl and was super nervous. I cried when I saw my engagement pics. I have never felt more beautiful. It made me so at ease for our wedding day and they did not disappoint as well! omfortable, and more importantly, BEAUTIFUL! The morning of my wedding, my makeup artist did not show up nor did I have a backup plan. I was not familiar with the area, so we called around town and had the first available MUA come to the hotel. Needless to say, she was totally inexperienced! Imagine, foundation 4 shades too light and shimmery silver eyeshadow! Oh my!! I was shocked, upset, and did not feel pretty (on my Wedding Day, at that)! As soon as the ML team arrived, Denise picked up on my body language immediately! I explained to her how I was feeling, what happened, and how we didn't have time to fix it! She comforted me and then, without hesitation, started taking charge. She was so helpful and proactive! It was totally not her job or responsibility to fix things, but she did. The Modern Love team genuinely cared about me on my wedding, and I was really touched. They are extremely talented and capture the most gorgeous images! Their work speaks for itself! What I can tell you is that working with them is so fun! They have an amazing and infectious energy that you'll love to be around. Most importantly, I never felt too tired, overdone, annoyed, or uncomfortable. My Bridal Party loved them too! My day started so crazy, I was certain it was doomed! But Modern Love really stepped up and saved the day; they went above-and-beyond their "call of duty". recently got engaged, I asked my friend, "who is your photographer?". And the rest is history. I met with Denise, who is really warm and I immediately knew I wanted to have her photograph the most important day of my life. She is everything I wanted in a photographer, someone who knows angels, and has a great eye for framing a shot, and who listens to my concerns. She is artsy but not a type of photographer who gets lost in the art and forgets about the main subject...the people in the photo! With Denise you are guaranteed great photos! All my friends and family loved my engagement and wedding photos! Even my guy friends, texted me and said "whatever you paid for your photographs was well worth it!". I would recommend Denise without hesitation! She really gets to know all of her brides and I am amazed at how most of the brides and her have remained friends even after the wedding has occurred. They have, for instance, used her for when they wanted to take pregnancy photos, family portraits, etc. I plan on too calling on her to capture more big life events.

Denise, Katie & their makeup gal, Ashlyn, made me super comfortable and super confident. If you've never done a boudoir photo shoot, THEY are the ones to go to. Denise and Katie know EXACTLY how to pose you and make you look your best. Married 17 years, my husband and I never had a "real" wedding because we eloped. We renewed our vows in August of this year and we had Modern Love Photography document the day. (Denise & Jess took photos and Christian was the videographer.) Before the ceremony, while we were all getting ready, Denise gave a little speech on what to do and what her job was going to be. She even apologized if she was abrupt in her directions because she knew on the "day of," you're always in a time crunch. There was absolutely no need for her to apologize because her instructions and information were excellent. Everyone did what they needed to do, when they all needed to do it. Denise is like a friendly drill sergeant.. and that's an AWESOME thing! Denise and her "cohorts" were all super friendly! They made my entire party laugh and made them SO excited to take pictures. I also love that during the reception, they took casual photos of everyone enjoying themselves, and not just posed photos. Denise has an expert eye for posing. She knows her stuff! A slight tilt of the head, 1 inch movement of an arm.. she knows how to make you look your best! I love that she doesn't take the typical photos and thank goodness she doesn't do the "bridal party jumping in the air" photo! If Modern Love Photography is still around in 10 years, I hope I can hire them when my husband and I renew our vows... again!

Denise knows just how to capture "in the moment" photos as well as professional photos and photos that capture the true essence of the love between a couple. Denise and her team were great at making us feel comfortable throughout our wedding day. I don't know how she captured the shots that she did, because she was so professional and non-intrusive during the ceremony we couldn't even tell that she was there. Denise and her team genuinely care about taking great photos and care about the people they are photographing. You can tell that this is a passion for Denise and her team. Our wedding was running late and we were beyond our timeline but Denise was so kind and wanted to capture all of the moments of our night that she stayed an extra hour to make sure she got all of the shots she needed. The team was so much fun to work with and by the end of the night it felt like we were family. My now husband and I had the pleasure of using the Modern Love Team for our engagement and wedding day photos and are extremely happy with the outcome. I also had a boudoir session with Denise that I gave to my fiance as a grooms gift. I had never done anything like that before but Denise makes you feel extremely comfortable and relaxed. I had a blast! As part of our wedding package we had included a day after session with Denise and her team. With life taking over after our wedding day time flew by and we had yet to schedule it, next thing you know I am pregnant and expecting a baby girl. I called up Denise and asked if we could do a maternity shoot with my hubby in place of the day after session. She was more than happy to accomodate us and even had the photos edited and sent to me in time for my baby shower! Denise and her team do not dissapoint! They are extremely talented and friendly. fe, having boudoir portraits was a little intimidating. However, I had some done when we had married for 'only' 10 years, and I thought an update was in order. Denise made me feel totally comfortable, pretty and sexy. She was enthusiastic and gracious, and she coached me every step of the way. We all have imperfections that we focus on or obsess about. Denise helped me realize that even the most gorgeous models feel the same way. The images that Denise and I created are really beautiful. My husband remarked about how well she captured my personality, in addition to being sooooo verrrrry happy with the book that I gave him. He is like a kid with those photos...each day he selects a different image to display on his dresser. He was touched that I did this for him, and I was touched that he appreciated it so much.
