The cake was beautiful, they attached the cake "topper" which also went down the side of our cake perfectly and it was really delicious. I would highly recommend modern pastry for your wedding cake!

Once we got into the decorations I was amazed at the range that was included in the "basics." We found what we were looking for in the sample book and she was able to customize to our colors. The experience was incredibly easy as the venue handled everything else for there but the cake was phenomenal (alternating layers of chocolate and vanilla with strawberry-ricotta filling). Highly recommended!!

each have a plate full of cake samples....absolutely delicious! We had a hard time choosing because they were all so good, so we went with each layer a different flavor cake and filling. Staff is all super friendly too, definitely recommend Modern Pastry Shop.

of the rest. When we went for our tasting, they offered to prepare us as many samples and flavors as we wanted. We ended up going with chocolate cake/raspberry mousse and vanilla cake/strawberry mousse. It was phenomenal. So many people commented on how good it was. We had some leftovers to take home, and we gobbled it up the next day. We can't wait for our one year anniversary so we can eat the top layer! The decorations came out beautiful too. They got the colors of the sugar flowers just right. Lisa and Carla were great and really fun to work with. Whenever I mention this place, people have already heard of them, so you know its good!

ur tasting, I think we tried every combination of cake / filling available, and went with carrot cake (no nuts, no raisins, so almost more like a spice cake) with cream cheese frosting. We did cupcakes and a small top tier for us to cut. The cupcakes were included in our package, but I believe it’s about $2 / guest which is pretty affordable for the size and quality cupcakes we received. For our small cake, we had an idea of what we wanted and they worked with us to do the topper exactly how we wanted. We had to pay for this part separately but I thought it was very reasonable for a wedding cake ($45 for a 10”, two layer round, with fondant and detail work ) They do tastings any time they are open without an appointment, which is pretty convenient. Parking can be challenging if they're busy but is worth the walk (go during the day if you're concerned about that section of Hartford.) I also recommend picking up a few pastries to go if you go in for a tasting. I haven’t had Italian pastries that perfect outside of Italy.

white cake with pineapple filling and it was so good! The only issue we had was that the ribbon we chose was not what we thought we were getting. We had chosen a sheer, light blue ribbon around the base of each tier. Even though we provided a swatch of color for them, it did not match well. It was much lighter than expected and did not stand out at all.

and cake toppers. They definitely used their creativeness and our cake came out amazing! I also had them make a groom's cake which was truly a hit at the reception. We also got so many compliments on the strawberry and buttercream cake we chose for the cake! Would definitely recommend!

ur time tasting flavors and gave helpful and non-pushy advise about what would work and look the best. Only draw back was that the delivery person arrived 20 minutes later than scheduled, which happened to be right before the ceremony was to begin and my photographer was unable to get the cake in the photos I requested prior to the ceremony. My guests loved it and the rest that we took home was gone quickly! Great experience and I will continue to recommend!

ous. We got chocolate cake with strawberry filling and all of our guests loved the cake! Our baker was wonderful to work with as well. Very pleasant during our initial meeting and worked very well with our reception site. She was very helpful in designing the cake. The only thing I cannot comment on is the pricing. Our reception site (La Renaissance) includes the cost of the cake in their price per person so I have no idea if the price was expensive or not. But I can say that even though we were not paying the bakery directly they did not treat us any different than any other customer. They were wonderful! And even if the cake was expensive I still would have gone here and would totally recommend them. It was just so awesome how unique and wonderful our cake turned out looking! Seriously like one from cake wars, ace of cakes or whatever! This was one of the few areas of the wedding planning that was smooth sailing and perfect!

The decorations were beautiful and the decorators really captured the details of my dress on the cake. Of course I would recommend this bakery to others because the cake was so good but i was just a little disappointed.

I chose reflected exactly the cake I got, and they arranged the flowers I chose to go on the cake very well. It looked beautiful and professionally done. We also got a selection of Italian cookies from Modern to be delivered with the cake, which I would highly recommend. Many people prefer cookies over cake. My guests really enjoyed them and it was a nice touch near the coffee and tea station.

During our design meeting, every detail we asked for was referenced in pages of their many design books and a rough draft of our cake was drawn out before our very eyes- we knew we would get our cake before leaving the bakery. Their price was also the most reasonable for what we asked for in a cake and included delivery to our wedding venue! Our guests took so many pictures of the cake that my husband and I were afraid to cut it! We went with a marble cake with raspberry mousse filling- it was light and refreshing...perfect for an August wedding!

Anyway My fiance and I were a little different when it came to picking our cake we wanted chocolate strawberries around the bottom and a couple on each tier. we also wanted the bride and groom chocolate strawberries as our topper. we asked them if they could do this and they mentioned they don't do chocolate strawberries but if we bring them in they have no problems with it. So that is what we did. the day before the wedding we got our strawberries delivered and our order got messed up. We had no groom berry for the top of the cake. Yes, I started to panic! however when I took all the berries down to the bakery they assured me everything would be alright they would figure something out. meanwhile I was on the phone at home with the berry company and they were sending me out the groom berries the next morning (my wedding day)so anyway as promised about a hour and a half before the ceremony they arrived. I raced to the bakery and handed them the groom berries. When i got there they told me I didn't have to do this they actually made me a groom but since I was there they would switch it out for me. I was so shocked and happy that they would go the extra mile do something like that. I told them both to take one of the extra berries and thanked them. I got so many compliments on my cake the taste and look of it was incredible. I am so eager to share my story of a wonderful bakery that does everything they can to make sure your day is perfect with a great cake.
