About Me Hi, I’m Yinjie (YJ) Deng, the photographer behind MoLight Studio. I approach wedding photography as storytelling through light, preserving each moment with intention, emotion, and artistry. I studied photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I developed a strong foundation in composition and visual storytelling. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of working with hundreds of couples, each with their own rhythm, culture, and love story. What matters most to me is not just how your wedding looks, but how it feels, the quiet in-between glances, the energy of the room, the atmosphere you’ll want to remember years from now. meaningful, we would spend the day at the Field Museum, just like any normal date, and then I would surprise her with a proposal on the lawn outside. Afterward, we had plans to celebrate with our closest friends and family at a rooftop bar downtown. Everything was perfectly planned… until the unexpected happened. Just a day before the proposal, my original photographer canceled due to a flight delay. In that moment, it felt like everything I had carefully prepared was falling apart. But capturing this moment meant everything to me, I didn’t want to let it slip away undocumented. That’s when I found YJ on The Knot. I reached out right away, and incredibly, she had a small window of availability, just enough to make it work. From that point on, everything felt effortless. She was responsive, reassuring, and truly understood how important this moment was. On the day of the proposal, everything came together like a dream. YJ captured every emotion, the surprise, the tears, the joy, in the most natural and beautiful way. When I got down on one knee… she said yes. Looking back, I honestly believe we were lucky things happened the way they did, because we ended up with someone who genuinely cared and went above and beyond for us.
