One reason why we chose my hometown of Portsmouth was for all the historic, charming parts of the city, and you can't choose a more unique and welcoming space than Mombo. We had a little over 100 guests on what happened to be a gorgeous day in late September, so our guests could take advantage of all the indoor and outdoor seating. Even when we piled onto the dance floor for a group picture it was never too crowded or claustrophobic. The atmosphere was perfect, with romantic lighting throughout and plenty of space to dance and mingle. I was one of those brides that wanted nothing to do with a seating chart, and I'm so thankful that they enforce a seat-yourself policy here. It truly worked out beautifully, where every person found their people and their place without feeling tethered to a certain location. It really facilitated a familiar, intimate feeling between our two pretty large families, and I think encouraged a lot of people to mingle more than they normally would have. Planning-wise, I'm not sure you'll find a more customizable experience. Even though we were planning from afar, we were able to come to town a few months before the wedding and sit down with Tom and Catherine to plan our menu. From first bites to dessert we personalized everything our guests were going to eat. With just a few ingredients, adjectives and cuisine styles, Tom was able to build an insane menu that exceeded every expectation we had. Truly, we ate everything we could during dinner and have received so many compliments from guests saying that it was hands-down the best wedding food they'd ever had. Throughout the reception, Tom also made sure that we had our private time, that our vendors were all on the same page, and that we were adequately taken care of. The staff was perfectly coordinated and on top of everything, and it was so nice to finally get to the fun part of the wedding and know that everything was taken care of for me. You can't beat the all-in-one benefits of a restaurant, and you definitely can't beat Tom's professionalism and culinary skill.

tmosphere was just so charming. All the guest are saying Best Wedding Ever. My husband and I were gushing about it for days after. Could not be happier.

On the day of, despite a storm causing a power outage prior to the ceremony, everything was still set up perfectly and food served as scheduled. Everyone at the restaurant was extremely helpful and accommodating- we made a last-minute decision not to do the ceremony outside given the weather and they set up the mezzanine so that we could have the ceremony there. The food was incredible and the guests raved about it, insisting that we schedule a yearly vow renewal and reception at Mombo! The restaurant itself is such a gorgeous setting and was beautifully decorated for Christmas. I could not imagine a more perfect wedding. Highly recommend!
