Monclova Community Center

We always wanted a barn wedding but nothing was in our price range to do so. Having our ceremony outdoors in front of this barn gave me exactly what I wanted at a price we could afford, and we loved it (despite the rain!) The banquet hall allowed enough space for our event and was flexible enough to change around tables. If you have a bigger bridal party like we did, the board room doesn’t allow everyone to comfortably get ready, but like I said we both had a big bridal party. It was nice to be able to use as a place to freshen hair up between photos and to take a quiet breather. Make sure you pay attention to the cleaning lists provided as I forgot to give it to my coordinator unfortunately.

The Monclova Community Center is an absolutely beautiful venue. We were married outside in front of the barn and had our reception in the ballroom. Our picture turned out beautifully, but we did have some major hiccups. We had multiple items stolen from us, including a an antique table that belonged to my great grandparents. There are no cameras, no security. Monclova is a very nice area and you would not expect this to happen here, but we have now heard of multiple cases of stolen items. Just be careful and keep a watchful eye if you choose to rent this venue.

I had my wedding reception at the Monclova Community Center, which is a historic 100 year old school house. The location matched perfectly with the ceremony location, which was at Oak Openings Lodge at the metropark. I needed a location that was not overly formal. It was also the perfect size for 100 guests, with room for a dance floor. I liked the historic feel and look of the building and that it was a little different. There were also very nostalgic cute pictures in front of the giant school bell, and the tiny historic post office and the ice cream parlor across the street. Unlike most venues, they allowed us to choose our own caterer and bar tenders. This gave us freedom and saved us money.
