Monica Schley, Harpist

Monica Schley is a Seattle-based harpist. She has over 25 years of experience playing all styles of special events including weddings, luncheons, art openings, garden parties, holiday events, banquets, and many others. She has played for nearly 600 wedding ceremonies! She enjoys helping couples pick out their wedding music, and playing in atypical venues - ceremony at Top Pot Doughnuts anyone? Ms. Schley has worked with a diverse pool of musicians including Butch Morris, Jherek Bischoff, Evan Flory-Barnes, Eyvand Kang, Christina Vantzou, Hey Marsailles, and Kanye West. In 2008, she recorded with Secret Chiefs 3 for John Zorn's Masada, and has since self-released two albums: Harp Carols (2013) and Braids of Kabuya (2018). As a composer, Ms. Schley has been commissioned for several multi-media public shows, including Seattle Center Next50 with fiber artist Mandy Greer. She performed and toured in Ahamefule Oluo's critically acclaimed show, “Now I'm Fine,” including a 6-day sold out show at New York's Public Theater in 2016. With her band, The Daphnes, she has been featured by The Sorrento Hotel, Bellevue Art Museum, Seattle Art Museum, and Chihuly Museum and Glass.
