Monika does none of this; she's an extremely talented wedding photographer who captures every moment beautifully, rain or shine. She was kind enough to join us in Governor's Island for our engagement photos, which we were both nervous and excited about; neither of us are naturally photogenic and posing for photographs can be intimidating, especially with our high expectations. Monika was great when it came to making us comfortable and look better than we thought we could in photos. She is patient and generous with her time, and after our engagement photos we were sure we made the right choice for our wedding photographer! On the wedding day she and her second photographer were true pros, making the most of the limited time frame on a truly dreary, cold, rainy September day. So many people have said to us that you can't even tell how terrible the weather was for a wedding day on a rooftop farm, which is truly an amazing compliment! Some of our favorite photos are of us hunkering under an umbrella among the wet and rainy flowers; Monika is great at adapting to her surroundings and making the best of the weather, lighting, and scenery. Time management on your wedding day is key, and Monika was great at getting people where they need to be and pushing through family photos (so that we had more time to actually party) while still capturing great pictures that our families will treasure for a lifetime. If you want to get one part of your wedding day set in stone, hire Monika, and you won't be disappointed. There will be so much stress leading up to the day, dealing with the caterer, seating charts, weather situations, delayed flights, last minute changes, etc. But Monika was there for us the whole way and we are so grateful for that! She's an amazing photographer and the nicest person you'll ever work with for your wedding day. This experience makes me want to hire her again to take photos just for fun! She worked with us on our budget, got to know us, took FABULOUS engagement photos and the day of our wedding, no words. She was awesome. Both of our families LOVED her, one of my guests asked for her number ("for photography?" I asked "UH NO, TO HANG OUT" she replied - yes Monika is that cool), and she made me feel beautiful and comfortable. The morning of the wedding had been a little crazy due to the pouring rain-which can make a bride and groom a little stressed when hosting an outdoor wedding. r work. As someone with an arts background, I'm very picky about visual images. Monika is a true artist, and her images sang to me. The quality of light which makes her subjects look like they're glowing from within. The gorgeous compositions which seem to make the surrounding world envelop couples with joy. The naked truth in the faces of her subjects, totally open and vulnerable. After our first skype conversation, I knew I had found our photographer. She has a creative artist's soul but is also supremely reliable and organized, so I knew I could trust her completely. When we discussed our wedding timeline, she actually helped me craft most of it--and came up with the brilliant idea to do sunset photos in my cultural costume as opposed to my ceremony dress. I would never have thought of this on my own, and I'm so grateful for her advice-- those portraits in my cultural dress were my favorite from the entire day. Throughout our wedding, even when I slightly panicked over a small crisis, Monika kept me calm and kept things moving. She was an expert at wrangling our crazy wedding party to behave for the group photos (no small task!) We all loved her and were so impressed by her. The day after the wedding, she shared incredible sneak peek images, then a few weeks later shared a beautiful slideshow of highlight photos. My family and I have probably watched that slideshow a hundred times, it was magical! We received our full collection of photos this week and I couldn't be happier (or more impressed that she finished them so quickly!) I also think that for the quality of her work, her fees are very reasonable. Her work is at least the match of other photographers who charge far more. I can't recommend Monika's work enough. She goes above and beyond to capture an event in the most thoughtful and beautiful way--somehow finding the perfect balance between raw, real, and polished.

We were blessed to have Monika and Magda with us for the whole day so we were able to take photos offsite outdoors at a beautiful garden before the ceremony, and Monika had an eye for all the perfect pictures. She captured our vision and beyond. From staged group shots, for which she had a list of so we didn't forget any, to pictures as we were walking down the aisle, to candid of our families during the reception, Monika and Magda took stunning, artistic photographs. Usually, I am incredibly uncomfortable with having my photo taken, and Monika made me so comfortable and managed to capture plenty of shots were I don't look terribly awkward! It was also wonderful to have both her and Magda so that even during the family photos, the cocktail hour was still being photographed. There is not one photo I can look back now and say I don't have and wish I had; they captured everything beautifully. After the wedding Monika sent us 10 'sneak peek' photos so that even though it was going to take a while to edit all the rest, we were able to have some to share and enjoy almost immediately. The turn around time was under a month for 10 hours worth of photography, and when they were done, she put them in a slideshow and an online gallery so that our families could enjoy them as well and sent us prints and a flash drive so that we have them, and we are also in the process of selecting photos for the album she is putting together! We couldn't have asked for a sweeter, more thorough photographer, a more stress free experience with photographing our day, or more beautiful photographs as to have as keepsakes. My mother-in-law has now had three children get married and she said hands down we had the best photographer of the bunch. If we need a professional photographer again in the future, we’d hire her again in a heartbeat.

The candid photographs are just incredible, including ones of grandparents and older relatives that we will treasure forever. Ours was an outdoor wedding and it rained and Monika and her fabulous assistant handled this and all other situations with reassuring calm, figuring out ways to capture the greenery of the outdoors without having us stand in the rain. Monika is affordable and had amazingly quick turn-around time on the photographs. She thoughtfully sent us a "sneak peek" two days after the wedding, which was the perfect thing to get. We wholeheartedly recommend Monika as the perfect wedding photographer.

n our lead photographer found out she was pregnant and due to give birth just weeks after our wedding, she gave us the option of choosing from a list of photographers who would be the second shooter if she could make it, but also potentially become the lead shooter in the event she could not make it. Monika was one of three photographers whose work was shown to us and it was very clear that her style matched ours and that she took beautiful photos. Of course we were nervous at first given the situation, but after seeing Monika's photos it was a very easy choice for us to stay with our photographer and select Monika as the backup. We knew that she could easily step in as the first shooter if needed. In the end, our lead photographer was able to make the wedding, but we were still so relieved to have Monika as the second shooter. Her photos captured many important moments and she really helped to manage a lot of our family members throughout the day. We would highly recommend her.
