About this vendor
The S. Mark Taper Vista Lodge, nature trail and amphitheater facility on the west side of the river make up the sum of the natural beauty of Lakewood's Monte Verde Park. It just might be considered a “jewel” of Lakewood park facilities. It features the S. Mark Taper Foundation Vista Lodge, (above) a 3,000 square-foot reinterpretation of a classic mountain lodge with exposed beams, "great room" with a fireplace and a wall of windows that provides a panoramic view of the park and covered patio. Beyond this is a landscaped amphitheater and fire ring. A quarter-mile-long nature trail loops around the perimeter of the park, creating a voyage through several ecosystems representing elements of the native California landscape: an oak grove, a dry creek and a fern dell.

I just had my wedding at Monte Verde Park a few days ago and I have zero complaints about this venue! I had a very small wedding (~30 people) but you can have up to 50 for the base...
price of $280 for the WHOLE day (you pay more if you have more than 50). A few tables and chairs are provided and there are picnic benches and grill spots outside as well. The park is reserved so you have it all to yourself. Plenty of parking and there is a full kitchen with refrigerator and freezer as well as two large bathrooms (we used the women's bathroom as a dressing room). There are tons of spots for the ceremony and indoor/outdoor reception options. There is a nice walking path and a lot of nice places for photography. Everything was very accessible for some of the older guests. We played lawn games and had tons of room for everyone to mingle. No alcohol is allowed in Lakewood parks and this venue was no exception, we didn't have a problem with this since we had a morning wedding, just something to keep in mind if you want to party hard. A beautiful park for a wedding or other special event!
March 2012. My Neices wedding was at this venue. I am still impressed with this park. Lots of parking for under 80 guests. They have like a shakesperan theater for the ceremony whi...
ch is very close to the lodge. My Niece opted to have her ceremony under the rustic wood hangover (in case of rain, it's perfect). Quiet and serene. I felt I was on vacation. The grounds are goregous and green for outdoor pics w/giant trees. It is a beautiful outdoor wedding site IMO especially if you want a rennaisance/vintage theme. The lodge has a great kitchen for vendors. The ceiling is like a rustic catherdal and the fireplace cozy. I loved the place. It is tricky to find tho... exact entrance (looks like white goverment tin bldg);good idea to make a test run or display lots of signs thru the neighborhood to lead people there. Several other guests said the GPS did not direct them correctly either. It is worth the frustration tho. For a small intimate wedding it is excellent. The staff was really nice and efficient but it you want any of your decor be sure to have a clean up crew of your own. My neice had beautiful handmade items that were just thrown in the trash. And a bit of a scuffel over the centerpieces occured. Which would happen if you make sure your peeps take care of that. I'm going back.
It's a private park in Long Beach, so it's very well maintained and ideal if you don't want to move around too much between the ceremony and the reception.;You have to reserve it 6...
months in advance, and it's in high demand.
