We love, love, love Montfair! The setting is breathtaking, but more importantly the staff was supportive, friendly, and responsive. They take great care and have so much pride in their venue, and it shows. Montfair is very well kept and really just beautiful. The native plant wildflower garden in the ceremony field was breathtaking for our summer wedding and was the icing on the cake. The cabins were the perfect place to house our families and the wedding party. They were clean, well stocked, and hospitable. It was so convenient to have the wedding party stay on site, and to have both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding all in one place. We would HIGHLY recommend Montfair to any and everyone!
Montfair provided us with the perfect location for our wedding. We visited several venues from southern Virginia to Maryland, and none compared to the price, service, and location offered by Montfair. Just outside of Charlottesville, VA, Montfair is tucked away within the beautiful landscape of Crozet, Virginia. The venue presents incredible views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, beautiful forestry, as well as a picture perfect lake. We had several hundred pictures taken at the resort and we cannot express enough how big of an impact the beautiful scenery had on our special day. In addition, to the scenic views, Montfair provided several on site activities for our guests including canoeing and fishing on the lake, as well as hiking and biking the local hiking trails. We held our ceremony at the peak of Montfair grounds and took full advantage of the Blue Ridge Mountain ridge line to compliment our event. We held our reception in their beautiful on site rustic lodge, which more than adequately supported our 100 plus guests. One of the best features of the resort were the 7 cabins on site including a house which were all rented at great rates for our bridal party and close family members. The cabins made our event extremely convenient and provided us with the ability to quickly organize for our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception. In addition, having this on site housing provided us with the ability to ensure that everyone could relax and have great time knowing they could easily walk to their cabin at any point. We even decided to rent the venue for three full days so that everyone could fully enjoy the scenery and Montfair resort. The Montfair staff definitely provided the wow factor with regards to service. Our wedding was definitely not an easy event with our large family, and they provided everyone with great respect and service. We were given the space we needed to enjoy our event, and at the same time, Katie and the rest of the Montfair team were ready at will to support our every need during the event. The Montfair team did a great job at keeping our event running smoothly and we cannot thank them enough for making our special day perfect. We highly recommend Montfair for any future Bride and Groom!
This place was absolutely amazing for our wedding. We got compliments all day and while it is more rustic we were able to really make it elegant. The staff is so easy to work with and it really is such a beautiful retreat. With both a mountain and water feature this venue really stood out and our guests were so blown away by the beauty. Just note that the venue comes with just the venue and tables/chairs (and the cottages if you want!) so you do have to find options for linen, glassware, plates, etc. but usually your caterer will assist you with that.
Going into our venue search, we knew we wanted to get married somewhere that was laid back but also somewhere that showcased Virginia's beauty. After we visited Montfair for the first time, we canceled all of our other venue tours and booked our wedding weekend right away as it had everything we wanted and more. The location was perfect for our families and friends and with the package we chose, we were able to have our entire wedding party stay in the cabins that are located on site the whole weekend. We got very lucky with the weather clearing up and were able to have the ceremony at the ceremony field with the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in the backdrop. Even if the weather hadn't cleared up, we had peace of mind knowing that we had a back-up ceremony location at the lodge on the covered deck. The reception at the lodge could not have turned out better. Everything about Montfair is already so naturally beautiful that we only had to add details that enhanced the beauty. Everyone we worked with at Montfair was so helpful and nice. It truly is a DIY venue so if you are the creative type and love to incorporate nature into your crafts, then this is the venue for you. One good and bad thing about the location is there is very little cell phone service. This was good for our guests because it kind of forced it to be a technology free wedding. If you want to avoid any communication issues, a tip would be to purchase/rent/borrow walkie talkies. We purchased enough for the wedding party and wedding planner and they helped us out immensely since the resort is pretty spread out. Another tip would be to rent golf carts. We rented a 2, 4 and 6 seater GEM/golf carts and they were used all weekend to help zip around the resort quickly and to also escort guests to and from the ceremony field from the parking lot/lodge. We had guests that were older or couldn't walk long distances so they were very appreciative of this. Overall, if you are a laid back, casual bride and groom who just want to have a laid back, casual setting to have a fun weekend with your closest friends and family, then Montfair is no doubt the venue for you. We love it and we can't wait to come back and spend weekends there.
This was the perfect wedding venue overlooking the mountains. It was ideal for our wedding in September. The staff was fantastic to work with while we were planning and were great the weekend of the wedding. Our family and friends loved having the option to stay in the cabins. We also loved having the bonfire after the rehearsal dinner and reception to keep the party going! We look forward to returning to Montfair!
Magical VenueReviewed on 12/02/2015 Heather N
Montfair is truly a magical location. It's got all you could ask for in a Charlottesville wedding venue - a gorgeous view of the mountains, an intimate late, a rustic wood lodge, cabins where your guests can stay, and REALLY friendly staff.
We could not have had a better celebration at Montfair! We had a small wedding this past February and were looking for a place to have a larger weekend-long celebration with friends and family. Montfair was just the perfect place! We rented out the farm for Memorial Day weekend. We had friends and family stay at the house on the property as well as rent out the rustic cabins and camp by the lake. The setting was utterly perfect. We got very lucky and had perfect weather. Our weekend included a bonfire each night, hilarious team games that we organized on the field, a small ceremony where we read our vows by the water, a cocktail hour in the wooded area by the lodge, dinner in the lodge, a fantastic dance party on the porch, Sunday brunch on the porch, a hike in the nearby national park, a brewery visit, and a bbq to end the weekend's festivities. The staff at Montfair were so kind, flexible, and supportive. They gave us the room to design the weekend anyway we wanted. Every one of our guests who spoke with them raved about their customer service and just how friendly they were. The one recommendation that I have is to plan for a variety of accommodations beyond what is offered at Montfair. We have some family members who are not quite low-maintenance enough to camp or stay in the cabins. We rented out a hotel block in Charlottesville and hired a shuttle for the main event to accommodate these guests. We cannot wait to go back to Montfair and spend more time in a place that has become so special to us!
great for nice weatherReviewed on 11/15/2014 Heather M
We had our rehearsal dinner here, outdoor at the fire pit and deck area. There were no bathrooms as the inside area was off limits for an event the next day. The people there were nice to work with and we only paid a fee for "firewood" and several of our guests had rented nearby cabins, so we could use their bathrooms if needed. It is very rustic. If we had better weather, there probably wouldn't have been a complaint (other than the bathroom situation).

Montfair was the perfect place to have our wedding! The venue was absolutely beautiful, and the staff were helpful and attentive. Would highly recommend this venue, especially if you are looking for a more DIY wedding or something rustic.

There isn't a single thing we would change about our wedding day at Montfair! The setting is beautiful (even in the rain!) and the staff is out of this world. Lisa will lay all your bridal worries to rest and help ensure a perfect day. There’s something magical about every piece of a wedding at Montfair…. The ceremony in the field is intimate and breathtaking all at the same time. The exposed wood beams at the lodge hold hundreds of twinkling lights, which along with the roaring fire transform the building from lodge to dream-wedding-venue. And the lake a sunset – there isn't a more perfect place! You can’t go wrong!
Sincerely GratefulReviewed on 10/10/2014
Having our wedding family reception at Montfair was a beautiful experience. From the initial contact on the phone though visiting/touring the venue, all the way until our event, working with the staff was amazingly peaceful. We were so grateful to welcome our family to such a simple yet lovely evening to celebrate our wedding earlier that day. We would describe the staff as kind, salt-of-the-earth people willing and happy to help us plan in any way they could. They are easy-going but also reliable and thorough. My husband and I valued greatly the ability to tailor the space to our personalities and the freedom to provide our own food and drinks on a reasonable budget. Montfair welcomed our small set-up group consisting of family and friends to arrive before us and get things ready for the party. We appreciated that we were given space to use the lodge as we desired and at the same time were comforted to know the staff was available to help if we needed it. Our family enjoyed the bonfire and had a wonderful time spending the night in the cabins. On another note, the location and landscape at Montfair are stunning. The lake and surrounding mountains brought us so much joy and our wedding pictures were beautiful. We are forever thankful for Monfair's sincere service and the lasting memories of our time there. We hope to visit again sometime and thoroughly recommend this vendor to anyone who appreciates rustic beauty and genuine people.

Absolutely Fantastic Place!Reviewed on 9/28/2014
I cannot give enough stars to how wonderful our experience was at Montfair. We were attracted to the venue because we were able to stay on the property from Friday through Sunday and have our guests/wedding party stay on the property. We loved that everything was eco friendly. The staff here are so unbelievably friendly, laid back, and responsive. They made us feel like we were at home. We will be coming back to vacation for years to come.
Jewel in the MountainsReviewed on 8/28/2014 Matt R
Montfair is located in a picturesque Blue Ridge mountain setting, with beautiful trees and foliage. There are several rustic and cozy cabins for guests to spend the night at, as well as a very modern Beauchamp House for the bride and groom and bride / bridesmaid prep before the event. The lodge (and cabins) overlook a nice lake and guest can make their way down to shore at night for the bonfire. Absolutely beautiful. The staff was very supportive, flexible, and helpful in having our wedding go off without a hitch.
Perfect for a casual fall wedding in VirginiaReviewed on 1/16/2014 Jennifer l
What a wonderful venue for a relaxed, lovely wedding reception. The folks at Montfair are helpful, calm, and accommodating--essential qualities for a wedding vendor. I planned the wedding from across the country, and Raya and all were great at answering questions and making sure the event was fun. Favorite parts of the venue: the bonfire, the fire place, the dance floor/porch, and the beautiful fall colors and mountains.
Amazing rustic wedding venueReviewed on 9/25/2013 Katie N
OMG our wedding was amazing! When we visited Montfair, it smelled like my favorite childhood memories of camp and I could see my family hanging out by the bonfire and fishing in the lake. We booked it for our rehearsal dinner as well and I would HIGHLY recommend doing that. Having Friday to spend with my family and friends made Saturday soooo much easier. We could not have picked a venue that better fit us. I wanted to be in control of a lot and since Montfair is a DIY place, that worked out wonderfully.
June 2013 weddingReviewed on 8/22/2013 Tena F
We had our daughter's wedding at the beautiful Montfair Resort Farm in June 2013. The venue was absolutely gorgeous and we could not have asked for a more perfect day. This was the first wedding I have ever "done" so I don't have anything to compare. My only comment would be on the cost of renting the venue. I thought it was very expensive but then again, you get what you pay for.
A+ Rustic/Whimsical Wedding Venue!Reviewed on 6/04/2013 Allie S
My husband and I got married here in early May and it was, without a doubt, the most perfect venue for the kind of wedding we wanted to have. We wanted a location that offered natural, amazing outdoor views (the ceremony field is breathtaking), rustic reception features (the lodge for receptions is perfect for a rustic, DIY set up), and casual overnight accommodations for our wedding party, family, and friends (log cabins and camping in tents! What could be better!?) The staff at Montfair was SO helpful and professional... but also gave us the right amount of space for us to "do our own thing" which I really appreciated. We also felt like the overall price was extremely reasonable. A few points: If you're a relaxed couple that loves the outdoors and has a casual family/wedding party/guests that enjoy camping, Montfair is perfect. Our immediate family and wedding party stayed in the on-site cabins/house and our guests brought their own tents and camped out right by the venue. We really liked that our friends had on-site accommodations that didn't cost them much, which can alleviate the burden on your guests; we could tell our friends appreciated that/enjoyed the tent party! The cabins were also SO cool and well kept. I didn't see any bugs in our cabin and all the cabins were stocked full of anything we needed. If you're a couple that wants a lot of creative freedom in your choice of food, decorations, etc.. this is your place. If you just want to check a few boxes and be on your way.. this probably isn't the place for you. The best part about Montfair was that we made it our own! Also keep in mind, the two of you can visit Montfair again and again for anniversaries and such years to come. We certainly plan on doing so!
commitment ceremony at MontfairReviewed on 11/18/2012 Anne B
My partner and I had a commitment ceremony on Saturday, October 13th, 2012 at Montfair Resort Farm. Our day was perfect and we couldn't imagine a better venue and location. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We highly recommend them as a wedding venue. All of our guests were very and loved our special day.
Dream come true...Reviewed on 11/05/2012 Elizabeth D
When we first started to plan our wedding we knew we wanted a beautiful place in the Blue Ridge where our friends and family could stay and relax. As soon as we stepped foot at Montfair we knew it was for us (it was the first and last place we visited!). Leora and Ruby were so responsive and helpful throughout the entire planning process. They made the wedding planning so easy, which was important for us since we were planning the wedding from over 8 hrs away. The wedding weekend itself was more perfect than we ever could have hoped, we wouldn't have changed a thing. The Montfair staff took exceptional care of our guests and of us, providing us with whatever we needed. The local coffee in the cabins, the endless wood supply for bonfires, the paper lanterns in the trees...Montfair's attention to details made the weekend so memorable. Many of our guests didn't want to leave at the end of the weekend - and neither did we! We know already that we'll return to Montfair for future anniversaries and other celebrations...it's a magical place that will always be dear in our hearts.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!Reviewed on 11/04/2012 Brittany M
I was married at Mont Fair Resort Farms this September, It was BEAUTIFUL!! I could not have dreamt a prettier place to be married. I am a originally from Missouri so the mountain in VA always take my breath away... And the setting here so breath taking. Everyone who attended the wedding gushed about how wonderful it was! We also rented the Main House and a couple cabins. They were very nice, I stayed at the Main House and the beds were awesome!! The house it's self was lovely, very open floor plan, night before the wedding my girls and I stayed there and hung out on the screen in porch! The whole experience was just amazing... I loved it and I wouldn't have changed a thing we got some gorgeous pictures and we had a blast. By far the best wedding I have attended ;) I really can't say enough about the venue and the Family running Mont Fair Resort Farms. They were very reasonable and helpful, but not pushy which I loved cuz I had been to other places that were very pushy. I also really like that we were able to get all our own vendors which really cut down on cost of the wedding. We may have paid more for a venue but we made up the price being able to hire all of our own vendors. I recommend this place to everyone I talk to about my wedding, even if you aren't getting married it is a beautiful place to just get away to.
great venue!Reviewed on 11/04/2012 Cyndra C
My husband and I fell in love with the venue. Montfair is managed by two awesome women, Leora and Ruby. Both were great - very attentive and invested in making sure we had a great day. Thank you!
Highly recommend Montfair!Reviewed on 11/02/2012 Sophie S
We definitely recommend Montfair Resort Farm for your country wedding. We couldn't have been happier with our interactions with the venue. We were delighted by the care and professionalism of the staff. The site is lovely in rain or shine. It was especially helpful to have the cabins for out-of-town guests. The lodge was a gathering point for all three days with room to dance and both outside and inside places to hang out. If we did it all again, we'd go back to Montfair in a heartbeat!
Rustic Elegance - dress up or downReviewed on 11/01/2012 Hillary C
Amazing setting, magnetic, people just want to relax and explore the grounds. Great value, charging way less than other vendors in the area and give you a longer period of time for set up, reception, and clean up. Very caring staff, they want to help. Not at all pretentious or up tight feeling, more like a family feeling. Warm and welcoming. You can dress the area up or down depending on your style. Lots of choices on where to have the wedding and party. Outdoors by the lake or in the field or indoors by the fireplace? Laid back feel, make it what you want!
