Moon Shadow Haven on Johnson Creek is a little piece of Paradise in the Texas Hill Country located just 30 minutes west of Fredericksburg in Mountain Home, Texas.
Our Reception Lodge and our Chapel with antique oak pews are both stunning! Both structures overlook Johnson Creek and have amazing views. The covered outdoor patio at the Lodge is perfect for your cocktail hour with a lighted bar, fireplace and 85" television. The reception hall is perfect for large, elegant events or smaller, more intimate parties and requires little decoration to be a gorgeous reflection of you and your partner.
The Bridal Suite is filled with natural light and mirrors with plenty of space for hair, makeup, getting dressed, photo ops and has a dedicated restroom. (We love watching our prospective brides' responses when they see if for the first time!) The Groom Suite features plenty of dressing room with a 75" television, spacious sectional sofa lounger, private bar and a refrigerator.
Our charming Honeymoon Suite is included in the venue fee for the couple on the evening of the ceremony. We also have options for onsite lodging for up to 28 guests, and we offer multiple day venue rental allowing the entire wedding party to stay onsite and host the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner at Moon Shadow Haven if desired.

We are all about having a good time! Life is too short not to eat great food, drink good wine, see awesome places, and spend time with wonderful people. We fell in love with the property the first time we saw it. We found out that some of the original owner’s family had gotten married in the creek right before we purchased the property. We decided that we should share our special place with everyone else, so we couldn’t think of a more fun way to do that than to host weddings. We invite you to come visit and experience the magic yourself.

I could not rave enough about this beautiful place and all the wonderful people who work here. All of our guests absolutely gushed over how gorgeous this venue was, and praised the overall outcome. I could not have asked for a more perfect day! But it would not have happened without Moon Shadow Haven. Our day of coordinator, Libby, did such an amazing job making sure I had nothing to worry about. The chapel we held our ceremony in is breathtaking on its own but I was able to customize it exactly how I wanted to. All decorations I brought with me I was able to use, and they even let me use some of theirs as well!! (I highly recommend taking a peak at their storage space filled with some really amazing decorative pieces) I met one of the owners at a bridal expo, and after one conversation with him I knew I had to go check it out in person. While attending multiple open houses hosted by Moon Shadow Haven at their venue, I found almost all of my vendors as well!! Even met a wonderful lady who owns a bridal shop where I found THE dress, one stop too! If the gorgeous Texas hill country, chapel, reception hall, outdoor cocktail area, and even being able to rent cabins on site and spend a weekend with your favorite people isn’t enough, then the kind hearted people who run the place surely will! Moon Shadow Haven was a dream come true!! Jim and Jane are such sweet and kind individuals. They allowed us the time we needed to prepare for our day and their team was so helpful in making sure that everything was ready. They gave great suggestions throughout the weekend to help us prepare and keep our guests feeling welcomed. Our guests kept talking about the beauty of the venue weeks after our day. Some of our vendors had not been to this venue and loved the layout and convenience for them. This place is truly amazing and well thought out!! We loved it and wish we could be there every weekend!

My husband and I just got married at Moon Shadow. We could not have been happier with it! The venue is GORGEOUS (we got a lot of compliments). Also, Jim and Jane are great. They were very responsive and transparent. The process was very smooth. We could not recommend them more!

Moon Shadow Haven is the BEST. It requires minimal decoration because of how beautiful it is, and if you want additional decorations, the venue has plenty that you can use. If you want a venue that is flexible with outside vendors, then look no further. We had our own outside food caterer, bar tenders, liquor, etc. Jim and Jane are also amazing!! They worked with us whenever we had questions about the venue and they respond fast! I can’t say enough nice and amazing things about Jim and Jane and Moon Shadow Haven. Book it, you won’t be disappointed!!

Moon shadow haven is a great place to host your wedding. We had ours in early April of this year and I have to say it was awesome! The venue itself is beautiful and getting married outside by the water and in nature was perfect. They have a chapel in case of weather or if you prefer indoors but we opted for outdoors. The owners are cool, chill, and easy to work with. The staff was also very nice supportive and made all the extra details easier to maintain. My wife rented out the cabins for our wedding party and we all had a blast there the whole weekend. This place was the fourth or fifth place we looked at. And even tho it’s a little bit of a drive to get there it’s well Worth it. My wife and I were very pleased and highly recommend this venue :)

Moon Shadow Haven and their staff are a gift from God. My husband and I, couldn’t have been more blessed to have met Jim and Jane. A place filled with so much love and open space! The layout of the venue is so beautiful and made my 150 count wedding feel intimate. Especially fond of the amount of natural light. No regrets here!

From the first time that we ran into Jim and Jane, they made us feel like we were family. Jim and Jane made the wedding planning process alot less stressful and were always willing to help at every turn. The venue is beautiful and a nice peaceful getaway not too far from San Antonio. The venue will speak for itself once you see it, but what sets the place apart is Jim and Jane's hospitality and attentiveness.

The owners are the sweetest and very accommodating, they helped make sure our day was absolutely perfect. The venue is perfect and the accommodations housed all of our out of country/state family! We loved overlooking the river and being inside the beautiful chapel and lodge!

This venue was amazing! It was so beautiful! We had an outdoor ceremony and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out! The bridal suite is Gorgeous! The owners were so sweet and helpful. They were there for whatever we needed! Its great for any type of wedding.I had the best experience. Definitely recommend. You won't be disappointed!

Our wedding feels like a dream come true! Jim, Jane, Sonia, Libby, David and the entire Moon Shadow Haven crew went above and beyond for us! At our first meeting, I knew this was the place (the pure beauty of the land is breathtaking)! They didn't treat us like many other wedding venue tours I had been on, we had an instant connection and felt like family! Our original date was 10/10/20, but due to the pandemic was pushed back to 10/30/21. They were so sweet and understanding when we made the decision to move the date. Leading up to the wedding, their communication, helpfulness and willingness to assist with whatever was needed was so appreciated! We stayed the weekend and rented the cabins, had our ceremony by the river and our reception in the lodge. We loved staying on the property to have each side of our family to come together and enjoy the peacefulness - of course, the Moon Shadow Haven crew was there to make us feel welcome! I honestly can't say enough how lucky my husband and I feel to have found this group of people, this venue to have our special day. My family and friends still talk about how amazing these people are and how beautiful the wedding was! THANK YOU SO MUCH! (I can go on and on about the extra special touches and extra things they did for us that was completely unexpected - they just genuinely want their brides and grooms to have the best experience possible and it shows!)

This Venue is so perfect! Jim & Jane are the sweetest & all the staff were so attentive to detail & helped make sure my day was perfect! The chapel & the actual venue are so beautiful alone so adding your touch of decoration really makes the venue a perfect Hill Country wedding venue destination.

This venue definitely has all the features you would want whether your wedding is big or small. The massive timber frame structure is breathtaking! The stonework, both in and out, of the facility commands respect. In addition to the wedding venue, the property boasts delightful cabins and beautiful creek side amenities. Given these amenities, there is no need to leave the property once your party arrives. The owners made themselves completely available and complied with all of our requests.
