Moonlight and Moss | Custom Gowns

UPDATE: I previously wrote a review about the alterations process with Shelbi so wanted to update with the final result. My dress was absolutely perfect! She also was able to alter my rehearsal dinner dress and they both fit wonderfully. I stand by everything I said in my original review -- Shelbi is the best! ORIGINAL: I feel so lucky that I found Shelbi at Moonlight and Moss! Shelbi is very quick to answer emails and I found it incredibly easy to communicate to her exactly what I wanted for my wedding dress alterations. I had some special requests, like removing a layer and sewing in a piece of my mom’s veil. Not only was Shelbi able to accommodate these requests, but she even had some of her own ideas, like to sew my mom’s veil in the shape of a heart. I would have never thought of this, but it is such a special touch. Also, her prices are completely reasonable and her turnaround time was fantastic. Lastly, I live in Austin, so it’s hard for me to get to her during the work week. She has been completely understanding of that and able to schedule my fittings on weekends. I HIGHLY recommend Shelbi’s wedding dress alteration services — even if you live in Austin, she is well worth the drive!

Shelbi is one of the best people I've ever worked with. She is so easy to talk to and her dresses are made with such love and care. She incorporated lace from my mother's dress in my gown and it was absolutely gorgeous. She was flexible with my schedule and communicated with me throughout the dress making. 100/10 will continue to recommend her.

I knew I wanted a gown that would flow, had a low back, and had grey tones. Shelbi took my few ideas and made an incredible gown and sketch that I fell in love with the first round. Could not have picked someone more professional, fun loving, talented and SO easy to work with. Shelbi is an incredible listener, friend, and wedding vendor!

Moonlight & Moss is an incredible seamstress! I found about her work through a wedding vendor showcase and I’m so grateful I did! Not only is she an amazing and genuine person, she also listens to your idea and recreates it into your wildest dream! She’s so good at her craft and I have nothing but respect for her. It is also incredibly affordable and you’ll have a custom gown for life. I absolute recommend her! I wanna have another wedding just to hang out with here again and have a beautiful custom piece for me!

I went to Shelbi nervous, because I had a set idea in mind about my custom dress & because I had never seen it done before. Well it’s safe to say she pulled it off with flying colors!! From our first meeting to the last fitting, her personality & professionalism gave me confidence & security every step of the way. About a year later, I still have random people tell me all the time that they are obsessed with my wedding dress just from looking at my photos. Moonlight & Moss is definitely a one-of-a-kind business, as is Shelbi a one-of-a-kind gal !!

Shelbi was such a dream to work with, from start to finish she made my dress creating process go so smoothly. We started with an inspo picture and that then morphed into an even better dress of my dreams. The dress was flawless on the day of the wedding, I felt amazing in it, it was fitted to perfection to my body and the colors came out perfectly. I was not your typical bride (no white dress) and Shelbi was so patient and kind with me and my family every step of the way. I will recommend Shelbi to everyone I know and don't know. I found Shelbi randomly while searching for someone that could turn my mothers wedding dress into something more modern/my style for my wedding. Shelbi defienetly went above my expectations! She was a pleasure to work with and listened to my thoughts and ideas and gave honest feedback/input which was truly appriciated. She made the fittings super convenient and fun. She sourced beautiful materials, worked diligently to complete the dress far in advance of when I needed it to be finished and overall, is an incredibly talented woman. When I went shopping for a dress at a bridal shop shortly after becoming engaged, I had a horrible experience that I will never forget. I found Shelbi soon after and literally gasped with I saw one of her dresses. Working with her was a dream and my dress soon became the least of my worries while wedding planning. Shelbi was very easy to communicate with and made every effort to ensure my dress was one of a kind. During the engagment she was living in Houston and I was in Fort Worth but she drove to me for every fitting. I received so many compliments on the look of my dress but my favorite thing about it was how comfortable it was. Our wedding day would have truly been different without Shelbi and for that I can never thank her enough.

When I got married I knew I needed to find someone that could make my dress for me. One because I wanted something different and two all the dresses that I ever got at a store always ended up to big and it cost more to get them altered then the actual dress cost. When I explained to Shelbi what I wanted she went right to work on it. We even had to tweak it a couple of time but in the end it came out just like I had imagined it. She was a joy to work with and gave great ideas as well as took mine into consideration. I would 100% recommend her to anyone to make a dress for them.
