Barb’s store is a one stop shop for all of your wedding stationary, signage, & seating chart needs. She blew us away with her beautiful, creative designs as they truly captured our vision perfectly. Each time we met with Barb we enjoyed talking and getting to know each other as she is a delightful person.Thank you to Barb and her team for all of their hard work to make our wedding day perfect. We cannot thank you enough and I highly recommend you work with Barb!
Barbara made the most BEAUTIFUL wedding invites and signage for our special day. Most importantly, we loved them because we felt like they were a true personal reflection of us-truly unique designs that we couldn't believe were ours!
Barb did our invitations, thank you notes, escort cards and other details for our September 2018 wedding. We couldn’t be happier with what she produced. Everything was gorgeous and fit out style and vision perfectly. Barb is very creative and thoughtful in her design and we are so glad we chose her for our wedding.
Let me first say that my wedding invitations turned out beautifully. The end product is really, really gorgeous.
But I can't even stand to look at them. And every time I drive by Carnegie I get a wash of anxiety and anger at how much Barb manipulated and bullied me. I'm shaking just writing this review.
I ended up spending a little more than twice what I told her I wanted to spend. And I had no idea what the cost was going to be until all the invites were already in and assembled, in a box right in front of me, because she would not answer my direct questions about how much each element cost. She dodged and hedged, telling me a range of possible prices or just laughing and saying "not much!" As if worrying about cost made me cheap or stupid. She even ordered the wrong thing (more expensive) for one enclosure, and when I pointed this out she said she'd just charge me for what I had asked for. But I have no idea what she charged me for because I never once saw an itemized breakdown of the cost, despite asking for one repeatedly.
I didn't feel like I could refuse the invites after I'd met with her and picked the design because then she didn't contact me for two full weeks while they were being designed. She blamed problems on interns and by then we were past the date she had set as our goal to get them in the mail--so I couldn't go elsewhere because I didn't have time to start the whole process over.
So they were twice as expensive, late, and beautiful. I was taken advantage of and pushed around. I'm also very aware of the way she responds to negative reviews (refuses to take responsibility for anything anyone criticizes) but I think it's worth it to share my experience with other brides.
Unless you have an unlimited budget and don't mind being heavily influenced, don't go to More Than Words for invitations.
Extremely unprofessional, disappointing, and frustrating. Barb gave me one price and then didn't tell me it was going to be more until after my wedding invites went out. She has sent me at least 4 different invoices with all different prices making it very confusing. My invites also went out late and probably wouldn't have went out at all if I didn't pester her. I wouldn't recommend this vendor to anyone!!! Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere!! She's also constantly blamed me for everything and won't take any responsibility for her actions!!! Terrible, terrible customer service. I wouldve given zero stars if I had the option.
Barb did our wedding invitations for my wedding on June 27th, 2015. The invitations turned out beautifully! When our invitations first arrived, my mom and I went in to check them out. I noticed that the invitations, which were supposed to be done in thermography, appeared to have been done in digital print instead. Barb immediately called the company to inquire about the mistake. She learned from the company that the invitations had been done in thermography, but due to the quality of the paper, it didn't stick as well as it could/should. Barb argued that we had ordered the invitations exactly as they had been presented in the display binder from the company and got the company to agree to re-print the invitations on better quality paper for us at no additional cost. Even though at times she wasn't super responsive to emails, I was so grateful for how she went to bat for us when the invitations didn't come out as well as they should have. The end product was absolutely beautiful.
We also had Barb print our information cards for us (to cut down costs) and she printed the addresses on our envelopes as well. She did a lovely job, and the info cards matched the invitation perfectly. She even had her staff stuff and mail our invitations for us at no extra cost (except for postage of course)! I am very pleased with the work she did for us.
Barb was a pleasure to work with. There were many choices and price ranges to choose from. We prefer to work with private vendors to support local owners and she did not disappoint. The invitations were just as ordered and delivered in a timely fashion.
Hello-
As my bride and I sit back and think about all the countless hours we have spent on our wedding, one person really stands out, and that’s Barbara Johnson from “More Than Words.” When we started the search for wedding invitations, we looked at all of the possibilities online and local establishments. We found out that not many companies still exist that do custom invitations nowadays here in the Pittsburgh region. Our wedding was a very formal, customized approach to the new norm of doing everything online. We wanted to stay local while sitting down to explain our thoughts, so at the end of the day, we could feel confident in the final product. Barb helped us from beginning to end, with color schemes, fonts, ideas, and kept this all in our budget. She is very transparent, and also explains what you are essentially buying for the money you put into it. Sure she knows her paper, but actually Barb is an educated design artist that loves taking your ideas to the next level. She knows what she is doing, and is an unbelievable asset to the Pittsburgh region for fine paper, invitations, and almost anything that you can think of that is customized with ink.
I can’t tell you how much we appreciate her hard work in making our wedding invitations fabulous. We loved her vision so much that we continued to work with her on our wedding programs for our day as well. These were the absolute most gorgeous programs I have ever witnessed, not because they were ours, but because Barb made our vision come to life. I highly recommend her services, you will most definitely not be disappointed!
Sincerely,
Mike Vernillo
Barb was a true pleasure to work with. From our first meeting, she was completely attentive and listened intently -- both to what I was saying and what I was not -- which helped her create for us the perfect invitation. Her creative thinking was inspired. The experience was fun. And the end product was the perfect representation of both my fiance and I as a couple and of the the laid back, beachy feel of our event.
We loved our invitation so much, that we framed it and hung as art in our home.
I could not more highly recommend Barb and More Than Words. Our experience was "more than wonderful."
Very frustrating to work with them.
Very helpful until you place order - had to keep reminding them to send first proof, kept getting excuses why we never received it. Invitations came in then we had to wait until inhouse stuff was done. Proof for that was promised within 5 days, 10 days later we were still waiting. More excuses. Finally received proof and promised final products within 24 to 36 hours. Four days later we went to pick them up - we asked to see if the paper was cut right that will wrap around invitation - couldn't find the invitation. Of course, paper was cut too small. If you are not a high profile wedding I guess you do not count.
