About this vendor
Located in the historic Morgan Park/Beverly neighborhood on 111th Street in Chicago, the Academy has the perfect space for any event.
Our theater sits prominently at the head of our 20-acre campus. Nestled behind the theater is our expansive green space, Jones Bowl. This versatile space is ideal for large community events and weddings. Jones Bowl is bordered by four historic buildings, which provide a grand and private backdrop giving your outdoor event stately views in all directions.
Jones Bowl
This beautiful courtyard can hold up to 700 guests. This space is very versatile! You can have a tent in the center of the courtyard, or have your ceremony on the stairs leading up to Alumni Hall. You are able to play with all the acres we have, to create your vision for your special event!
Dining Hall
The Dining Hall was built in the 19th century and still has all of its charm. When you walk into Alumni Hall you are greeted by the beautiful grand entree. The Dining Hall can seat 225 guests, with space in the alcove for a dance floor. This space is perfect for weddings, galas, and dinners.
Library
At the heart of this stately room is a large fireplace and cozy seating area. The antique oak reading tables grace the room offering ample seating. This room is great for corporate meetings, receptions, literary events, and intimate wedding ceremonies.
Theater
Our theater seats 425 people, with a green room, dressing rooms, catwalk and a large backstage space. We have a new sound and light board that was replaced in the last 5 years, with a technician on site. The theater is perfect for performances, dance or music recitals, and school graduations.
Art Gallery
Located across the hall from the theater, it serves as a perfect space for receptions, cocktail parties, intimate weddings and business meetings. With tall ceilings this smaller space still feels grand.
Gymnasium
In our Warrior Circle, we have a large and small gymnasium, tennis courts, baseball, softball, and soccer fields, and a multi-purpose room.

My husband and I are beyond pleased with choosing the Morgan Park Academy for our September 2024, outdoor ceremony and outdoor/indoor reception. We used the quad and Pavillion for ...
our ceremony and the beginning of our reception/happy hour; and the Dining Hall for our reception. Once decorated the Dining Hall turned into an amazing setting and the building architecture and greenery on the quad made for amazing photos. I can't thank the coordinator Wayne and his staff enough for being so accommodating and making sure our day was beyond amazing!! I highly recommend.
My wedding was originally intended to be outside in the Jones Bowl.. BUT it rained the entire week an we moved the venue inside . The ceremony was in the theater and reception was ...
in the dining hall. Everything was fabulous. The team worked with my coordinator and my wedding was spectacular
I had my wedding reception outside in their lawn area and it was spectacular. Morgan Park were very flexible about what I wanted to do and let me bring in any vendor I wanted. My...
heart was set on an outdoor wedding but the prices downtown were outrageous. I am lucky I found this gem!
Morgan Park Academy (MPA), is a historical beautiful venue that was perfect for my wedding; however, their quality of service is beyond unprofessional. I recognize that the during ...
my wedding planning time, the school experienced a transition with positions. I felt that I was patient and kind throughout this time, I understood that weddings are not their priority because they are a school. But my experience with them deteriorated throughout the time despite their promises that their communication would improve. From the beginning of the transition, my main contact would take several weeks to respond to my emails. The gap in communication is only the tip of my concerns.
MPA breached the contract that I signed with them. I signed a contract stating that my wedding was to end at midnight, in addition we had one hour, specifically until 1AM to clean the venue. The website also stated that the music was expected to end by midnight. At 11:15PM, my vendors (DJ and bartenders) were informed to stop playing the music and to stop serving by 11:30pm. This was not agreed upon prior to the wedding, in fact my contract stated midnight as closing time. I was then approached by a venue employee and was informed that my guests and vendors were expected to be off the premises before midnight. This employee directly approached my guests and asked them to leave immediately. This experience was rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional.
2nd concern: We were informed that the venue space was able to accommodate our 220 guests. The space is a beautiful historic school with original wood. We specifically paid to use the dining hall space, which included the original wood tables and chairs. The night before the wedding, I noticed that there were a significant amount of wooden chairs missing (approximately 50 chairs), and when I inquired about them, I was informed that the chairs were removed for repair and any chairs missing would be replaced with white folding chairs. This was quite upsetting considering we were not informed about this until the night before the wedding when I asked about them.
3rd concern: We paid a $500 deposit, which states in our contract, that the $500 would be returned as long as there were no damages. Neither myself or my husband were informed about any damages or issues, yet we received a check for only $400. This check was also only received after we reached out a few times to inquire about it. We did not receive the check until mid-January 2020.
I addressed my concerns by email to MPA, including I inquired about the missing $100 (I understand that it is a minimal amount; however, the principle of the issue is quite concerning), and they have been unresponsive. I also sent a certified letter to the Head of the School, as well as the Assistant Head of the School, expressing my concerns. To-date, I have not received a response.
Though this is a beautiful venue, I highly encourage to support a different venue, especially after we work to move pass the Covid-19 pandemic. There are many venues that will need business and will likely welcome you and be kind to you throughout your wedding journey. MPA is not one of them.
Accommodating and affordable space. They worked with us to meet all our needs and helped with coordinating even some difficult requests. Staff worked with us to work out any kinks....
The space was transformed into our dream space and we had so much room to be creative.
