Tucked away near the Finger Lakes in Canandaigua, NY, Morgan Samuels Inn Venue sets a rich scene for wedding celebrations. This historic estate traces back to the late 1700s when it was used as farmland. Over the centuries, different owners have poured their wealth into the property. The result is a gorgeous Colonial Revival house fitted with stylish antique furnishings. Inside and out, this old-world venue feels like a welcome step back in time. The first property was built on this scenic estate in the early 1800s by Robert Davison. He used traditional field stone to create a rustic and inviting home. The keys to the property changed hands many times over the years. In the 1940s, they eventually reached the wealthy Morgan family. The house was made what it is today by actor James Judson Morgan. He renovated the residence to reflect the popular style of architecture at the time, Colonial Revival. The building features a timeless stone facade. Green fields, mature trees and numerous gardens create a peaceful atmosphere all around. The venue's natural surroundings make it a wonderful stage for seasonal celebrations. Soon-to-be-weds can plan white winter weddings and colorful fall ceremonies anywhere on the 45 acres. Inside the mansion, vintage furniture, Oriental rugs, and classic paintings create a charming ambiance. There are 9 fireplaces, casting a warm, romantic glow throughout the home. A more modern feature of the house is its glass-encased porch. This cozy space looks out over a lovely garden rockery and an open air patio, an ideal spot for quiet ceremonies and cocktail hours. Since the 1940s, Morgan Samuels Inn Venue has served as both a private home and bed-and-breakfast. In 2020, master gardener Liza Barnum took over the property to turn it into a stunning wedding venue. Couples are invited to rent the whole house for their celebrations. There are 7.5 guest rooms for the wedding party to stay in. Each of these comfy spaces has its own unique character. During the day, the happy couple can make use of dressing rooms. The property features both indoor and outdoor spaces to mark this amazing milestone.
