This place and people who work there are absolutely amazing!! My husband and I fell in love with this place and it truly was what made our weddding so magical. Jessica could not have been sweeter and more on top of everything. We knew we didn’t want to get married at a typical wedding venue (no offense meant, just not for us), and wanted somewhere with nature all around it and a simple, rustic feel. Mount Gulian will forever be our special place.

Rebecca is awesome!!! Our real review would be 3.5 stars - we'd say it was great, but had a couple of obstacles. The grounds and barn are fantastic. We got married in mid-August and the "big ass fan" kept the barn cool enough to dance all night. There is ample parking on the grounds and the setting photographs beautifully. We booked our date pretty early and ended up going through a few coordinators throughout the process with varying levels of successful communication. We are lucky to have ended up with Rebecca as the coordinator we ended up with for the home stretch because she was very easy to communicate with and worked so hard for us the day of the wedding. You really do need to bring in EVERYTHING, but the upside is that they only do 1 wedding per weekend, so you have a lot of flexibility to take your time with set up and tear down. As a historic house there are quite a few rules and obstacles related to not having full-time event staff, but the trade off is a gorgeous and unique setting. Far more affordable option than anything else in the area, the trade off is you have to work a little harder. :)

Mount Gulian was a perfect setting for our dream wedding. The views are incredible, the grounds are beautiful. We had our ceremony in the garden, then our reception in the beautiful barn, which despite humidity and warm weather, stayed cool with their big fan. We planned to have our cocktail hour on the lawn, but due to some light rain, had to move it to the barn. But no one knew the difference, everyone had a great time. This versatility was great – we knew that rain or shine we’d be taken care of. Because it’s a very DIY space (you will need to rent everything from ice to restrooms) we would recommend a wedding planner. Stephanie from Just Hitched was who we worked with – she used to work exclusively at MG and knew it inside and out. But having the DIY space was perfect. We had a wood-fired pizza truck (Itsa Pizza), designed the space exactly how we wanted, our own table settings, decorations and DJ, etc. Everything was customizable to what we wanted for our wedding. The staff at MG was perfect and accommodating, helping us every step of the way.

When we saw the venue, we knew right away that it was perfect for our fall (10/2) wedding. We felt like with a venue as beautiful and varied as this (riverfront lawn, barn, historic house, landscaped garden), we wouldn’t need much else. There’s so many beautiful photo opportunities here. This is also a great spot if you are very DIY. We hired a videographer with a drone and I’m so excited to see how those shots come out. There are a few extra rules since it’s a historic place but they were in line with what we wanted anyway so they didn’t feel too restrictive. The staff (Brittany) was easy to work with and accommodating. Some things to keep in mind cost-wise are that while the initial fee seems pretty low, there are a lot of extra costs to consider that make this venue comparably expensive to other places. For example, the caterer costs will be higher since they have to construct their own tented kitchen without running water, bring in all rental tables/chairs, and dispose of trash, so just make sure this is clearly communciated to your caterer. We also rented bathroom trailers to have bathrooms closer to the barn for older guests. Another small concern is that the house is only accessible 1 hour before the ceremony so we had our hair done and got ready somewhere else. Even though it required a bit more work, we wouldn’t have had it any other way. The barn was just an amazing place to have our reception.

We love Mount Gulian! It is such a hidden gem in the Hudson Valley and we're so glad we stumbled upon it. The view of the Hudson, the gardens, the house, and the barn will take your breath away! Our guests couldn't stop talking about how beautiful it was. Our coordinator Jessica was super helpful and made sure all the details were set. It is pricey in the long run because the cost doesn't include anything except the use of the space, so you have to bring in a caterer, rentals, etc. but it was so worth it. Thank you so much, Mount Gulian!

This is the most beautiful venue you'll ever see, especially on a clear, sunny day. Our guests were blown away by the venue and the river view from it. The grounds are beautiful and there is a huge lawn, a garden and a two and a half century old barn where various parts of the day can take place. The historic house is small and very picturesque. If you are into DIY, there is a lot of room for creativity here and the day before the event can be used to set up. Mount Gulian is a little gem in the Hudson Valley and we can't say enough about its charm. Do yourselves a favor and visit.

Mt. Gulian was an amazing venue for our rustic wedding. We love the outdoors and are not fans of catering halls, plus it's only 90 minutes form our home (NYC). Every one of our guest were in awe of the beautiful grounds and the barn. The sunset by the river was gorgeous and gave us fantastic wedding photos. All of our guests took photos of themselves in different parts of the venue as well. I even heard some of them refer to it as an "enchanted place from a fairy tale." We could not have asked for a more magical place.

Mt. Gulian is a hidden gem in the Hudson Valley. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous as is the barn, so you have both outdoor and indoor options. The folks who manage the venue are wonderful to deal with and the cost is very reasonable for what you get. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a rustic outdoor ceremony with an option to do the reception indoors in their amazing barn.

I can't possibly say everything I want to about how much I loved Mount Gulian! The price is an amazing value. The history of the site is extremely special. The stone house and Dutch barn are to die for, and the view of the Hudson River along with a stunning garden are incredible. To top it off, Kim helped to coordinate and make our day run so smoothly! Our guests were blown away by the lush green gardens and forest surrounding the ceremony/cocktail hour location and the whimsical setting of the reception in the barn. I highly recommend Mount Gulian - both for its aesthetic and the wonderful staff!

We wanted the Rustic look and we got it! Beautiful view of the Hudson River. Calm and serene and private location for a reception! The staff was willing to work with us in some aspects of planning.;Make sure you give EXACT information (times, head counts, cleanup access) they ask for and record what you tell them. It will come in handy in gaining your deposit back.
