Responsiveness is our #1 core value. There were in excess of 55 emails sent and about 50 received after the contract was signed. All calls and emails were responded to within one business day. In addition to this email, there were 3 in-person meetings scheduled, (the couple made it to two of them, one was a re-schedule) and we made outgoing customer care calls and texts just to check in in the months leading up to the wedding. I'm not sure what questions went unanswered or were difficult to get answered, but we did send a detailed step-by-step description of our DJ process, a sample wedding reception time line, and logins and passwords to our song and wedding activity planner as well as our Pre Wedding Checklist 90, 60, 30, 14, and 7 days prior to this wedding. In addition to this, we have office hours 9am-6pm every weekday and we just didn't get calls or texts from this couple. In addition to this existing process, we have upgraded our outdated song request and event planning section with a modern, easy to use smartphone app that eliminates most of the friction of planning music and activities after the DJ has been booked. ################################## "The day of our wedding, he was choppy, akward, off the timeline, didn't playall of our music requests, then had a rookie running the table- which led to mixups and akward silences." ----------No wedding reception goes perfectly, and despite our planning efforts this couple was left disappointed. Here's what happened: 1. Guests showed up 35-40 minutes early, interrupting the final critical moments to do testing and go back over the time line with the venue and catering staff and our assistant. The venue didn't want to comply with the couple's wishes to have their entrance outside, so I had to spend time going to bat for the couple so that they could get what they wanted. Then the couple chose to change the schedule and not take family/group photos during the time that was allocated for that, instead showing up 30 or so minutes early themselves. Before the couple arrived, I met with venue and photographer and made a new time line based on the changes. We weren't asked or able to consult with the couple about it before they arrived, so we did our best to create a timeline that kept guests comfortable while the couple took group and family photos. We never guarantee we will play all of anyone's music requests. This couple requested about 50 songs, and 39 of them were played along with the songs guests were requesting in the moment. Yes, we had a rookie running the board. I brought that assistant on at my own expense after our last planning meeting once we learned the scope of activities, announcements, and heavy MC work that was required for this wedding was beyond what one experienced DJ could handle on their own. Nobody asked the couple to cover the cost of assistant though. Had we had 10 of the 30+ minutes that were taken from us at the beginning of the wedding by early guest arrivals to go over some things, it would have been a lot smoother. So there was an awkward silence or two of just a few seconds, which I will admit can seem like an eternity. That "rookie" was only behind the DJ board during a fallen comrades table presentation, which I chose to come out from behind the DJ booth for rather than present all of it from behind the board. But we literally didn't have to play any background music or do anything to enhance that presentation. We chose to try and make it awesome because this couple put so much importance on it during our planning conversations. Its clear that the couple was unhappy with the extra effort put into this fallen comrades presentation. And I'll admit, we probably focused a little too much on it. In addition to this, someone from the venue cursed at the groom's friends and the venue was pre-closing this wedding reception like it was a McDonalds. I've never seen anything. After the event we found out the couple was not satisfied and gave a partial refund. Based on the level of care and attention that this couple received, we don't think the price that was paid has anything to do with the level of satisfaction that was received. We are sorry to this couple that things did not work out.
