Lane is also so responsive and was checking in through the whole process making sure everything was going smoothly and Lane and John offered suggestions which worked perfectly for our day. While Mountain House Estate requires most items to be brought in, they provide key essentials like tables, chairs, a stunning redwood bar, cocktail tables, fire pits, and patio furniture. This significantly reduces the rental burden for couples, something I did not fully understand until I got my final bill from the rental company after our wedding. The venue's preferred vendor list was a very valuable resource for us, offering a selection of quality vendors familiar with the property. If you book at MHE, we’d highly recommend working from the preferred vendors list as much as possible as the familiarity with the property significantly reduces the likelihood of vendor-related issues on the day of your wedding. We highly recommend Mountain House Estate for its excellent service, beautiful setting, and thoughtful design, all of which contributed to a memorable and seamless wedding experience.

Our day flowed so nicely because John and Lane really have thought of everything from the getting ready rooms, to parking, to heaters/air, to a great speaker system throughout the space. They allow you to choose your own food and drinks and include a lot of extras, which really allows you make the wedding yours while saving on costs. Every inch of the property gives you great photos (pond, oak tree, garden) and set-up was a breeze for vendors. Our guests had such a great time in wine country and the wedding was much easier to plan because MHE had lots of experience and advice. They do have more rules and staffing requirements than other venues, but nothing unreasonable. Finally, Lane and John are such nice people and they really take pride in their facility, easy communication, and their local vendor list. We loved everyone we worked with and it was a flawless day!

From the start of our planning journey in 2019, John and Lane were incredibly supportive and communicative about everything that planning a wedding entails. They provided us with vendor lists that helped us connect with our wonderful planner, Lacey, as well as the rest of our vendors who made the day so memorable. These past 2 years have not been easy (for anyone!) and due to COVID we were not sure if we would be able to have the wedding we envisioned. John and Lane kept us up to date with everything going on in Mendocino and Sonoma county. They took the time to talk with us on the phone multiple occasions and answer all our concerns. Although it was a time of uncertainty, we felt comfortable moving forward and knew without a doubt they were doing everything they could for us and the rest of their clients. The MHE is stunning and will always be a special place to us. The care and love that John and Lane put into the property is clear to see! Many of our guests raved about the property and how warm and beautiful it felt. We were married under the Oak trees, which felt magical. When it came to the day of, my bridesmaids and I were able to enjoy the property for the full day (the bridal and groom suites are a real treat!). We also didn’t want our dancing to be cut short and MHE allows guests the option to stay until midnight. The flow of our wedding felt easy and many guests expressed how relaxed and comfortable it was. The location is close to Healdsburg where our guests stayed, but just far enough that we felt away and in our own unique space. If you are looking to have your wedding in the Sonoma/Mendocino area, I highly recommend contacting John and Lane and visiting the MHE. We’re forever grateful we found them.

But what really was the icing on the cake for me was the Hangout, which is where my groomsmen and I got ready. Other venues we toured had a great or decent bridal suite, but essentially a closet (think Harry Potter) for the men to get dressed in. Not the case at Mountain House Estate! There is an amazing area where we could play poker, shuffleboard, fooseball, had lockers to store our belongings, an XBOX with a huge TV, and couches to lounge on. I was blown away by this because I felt like this was a great area for us to blow off steam (and my nerves) and create some great memories that day. Aside from having an amazing area to get dressed and hangout, the wedding day itself was amazing. Our ceremony was even better than pictured and the food at the reception (we hired a local caterer who made such great food and a great experience at dinner). I’ll be honest, my wife (and the planner) handled most of the planning and details, but I could not be happier with our choice of venue and how the day went. I feel really special that we picked a venue that had a spot just for me (and my groomsmen) and the photos turned out amazing because the venue has so many different places and areas to take cool photos.

rained in my wedding vision...but what I loved about Mountain House is that I was able to really customize my wedding to be exactly how I wanted, even having food trucks. My planner and I worked together (I'm a pretty busy person!) and she was able to create a wedding day for me unlike any weddings I've attended before, which is exactly what I wanted. I've attended so many weddings in the past and been able to know exactly what I wanted and didn't want for my wedding day. The Oak Tree terrace is where I held my ceremony and afterward, I loved all the different places my photographer took me around to have my photos on the property - barns, windmills, antique trucks, ponds, and gardens, I really got all the photos I was looking for! I keep looking back on my photos every day and am so happy. Afterward, our caterer (who was amazing) served us on the lawn and the ambiance was just perfect. All around, after looking at so many venues, I'm so happy that I ultimately decided on hosting my wedding here because I wasn't looking for the cheapest or most all-inclusive venue, but rather a place that was unique,special, and helped paint my (very detailed) wedding vision! It also helps that it is in Sonoma wine country and I was able to treat my guests to some of my favorite activities before and after my wedding, like wine tastings and sightseeing.

Both my wife and I had worked previously in the catering business and had seen dozens of venues but none really could provide the stunning ambiance, attention to detail, support and management from the owners, and flexibility like when we range into weather complications or vendor issues – not to mention the price is very competitive for this area. Check out this venue ASAP they are in high demand but best of yet, you'll probably save some time because your venue hunting will end there!

have our ceremony up at the Oak Tree Terrace - what a gorgeous setting! We had a harpist playing ceremony music and then transitioned to a DJ for dinner and dancing on the lawn and the patio areas. Being able to move between areas was awesome - no need to be turning over tables with people mingling around. I loved that there were getting ready areas for the guys and girls as this made it so easy to spend the whole day on the property and not be worrying about transportation to/from. Highly recommend this venue for a gorgeous wine country wedding - their preferred vendors list is amazing as well!

Mountain House Estate is TRULY one of the few venues that I have been to that is gorgeous and well thought out throughout virtually every inch of the property. It is very evident that John & Lane have spent many years and hard work in developing this venue. On top of that, they are both such a pleasure to converse with and their recommendations of outside vendors have proven to be a further extension of their expertise in the industry. If you have not had the chance, check this venue out! The pictures and videos, while stunning, do not do it justice. With all the additional room and venue options at your disposal, the price is extremely fair if not a steal! They are also constantly adding and updating the venue, who knows how much better it'll become by your special day.

ng Mountain House was a NO BRAINER! As soon as we arrived, she took the time to get to know us and ask about our vision for our wedding day. She had weather patterns for our time of year printed as well as a wealth of photographs for us to look at showing the property during May. We have a larger bridal party and had been concerned about the getting ready rooms for the day of our wedding. The Bridal Suite and Bachelor's room are flawless; John and Lane thought of everything. With plenty of natural light and seating, they are perfect for photos, makeup and just being together, not squished, while getting ready. However, perhaps our favorite location on the property is Oak Tree Terrace. There is something absolutely magical about the communal seating underneath those towering Oaks. We cannot wait to say our vows and tie the knot in a space that feels as sacred as the commitment we are making. You cannot go wrong with choosing Mountain House Estate for your wedding location!

arts to get narrow and you begin to wonder if your going the right way. Signs are posted well in advance so you can't miss it. We pull up and Lane is there to greet us...WOW...WOW...WOW! At this point I'm not even out of my car yet. This place is huge I'm in awe; already picturing my day and that's a good sign! Lane leads us into the ballroom where I'm blown away with how the place is designed. The wood panel and finishes are done by her husband John. I stand in the room fighting back tears cause again I start to picture my big day. Lane sat us down to get to know us better. We had a very nice chat, Lane was very informative no sugar coating she gave us the whole low down. I now know what to expect. We began touring and each location was breathtaking I mean it! My head was spinning from all the beautiful sites Lane took us too. There were so many locations to have your ceremony and reception. Finally it was time to visit the Oak Tree Terrace...this location is what made me look into the venue in the first place. We walked up to the terrace only to yet again be blown away! Seeing my fiancé standing at the bottom of the threshold brought me to tears and at that moment...I knew this is where I'm getting married at! Lane was a doll she was such a delight throughout the entire tour, let the planning begin.

right away after our first visit. As a couple from Northern California, we dreamed of finding a venue that honored and accentuated the beauty of California and MHE nails it. The grounds are immaculate, the gardens are exquisite, the trees (and especially the Oak Trees up the hill where we had our ceremony) are to die for. Both we and our guests could not get over how truly stunning this venue is and it is the perfect size with lots of options on how to use space. We had a wedding of 150. We had our ceremony under the Oak Tree, had cocktails in the barn, did dinner on the lawn, and dancing/photobooth/lawn games/dessert on the patio. It was the perfect use of space and made each area feel new and special. Highly recommend and felt like a really nice use of space while still feeling intimate. Looking for a venue that replies ASAP? MHE. Looking for a place that is constantly in communication leading up to your wedding? MHE. Looking for a place that allows to go past midnight? MHE. Looking for a place that allows you to book any vendor to truly make your day your own? MHE. Not only is this place just heaven, but John and Lane are some of the sweetest people you will ever meet. They were incredibly open with everything that the venue includes and we loved that we had the ability to hire whichever vendor we liked (most of ours were from their vendor list and man oh man do they have true gems on there and we ended up hiring local businesses too!). To show just how amazing John and Lane are I want to tell a little story. After our wedding I realized I had lost a family heirloom that was on my bouquet. The next day I called Lane in a panic and we were ready to scour the property looking for it. After I retraced my steps, my husband and I realized I had left my bouquet in the garden. Lane being the angel she is went up and checked for us on the drive up and found it! She is a legend!! On our wedding day, we felt truly at ease and just overjoyed to be there. Our guests could not stop talking about how gorgeous everything was and I even heard some people say it was the most effortlessly, relaxed and beautiful wedding they have ever been to. Score! It’s an all in one experience. I loved getting ready in the bridal suite with my bridesmaids and mothers!! My husband was one of the first to experience their newly renovated groomsman suite- it is incredible! Their outdoor setting is just breathtaking. We had our ceremony in the front lawn and reception on the back patio. I was obsessed with their redwood bar that John, himself, made! There is just so much love and passion that went into creating this space and it shows with every detail! All of our guests were wowed by the beauty of it! I just had such an amazing experience there! They even sent us the cutest newlywed gift after our wedding and I just loved how thoughtful they were! Highly recommend this venue!!

This venue really has everything we wanted and more. The rooms for both bridal parties to get ready are amazing and designed perfectly for the' bride and groom (trust me ladies, you will love the bridal suite)! We got married under the oak tree on the top of the hill and it was wonderful! The garden was blooming, the built in seats were comfortable for guests and it made the absolute PERFECT spot for our ceremony. We hosted our dinner on the lawn where there was plenty of room for our 150 guests. We ended our evening dancing under the stars and patio lighting and wouldn't have changed it for the world. Highly recommend this venue!

We were able to choose our own vendors with some preferred vendors provided to help guide us when needed, bring our own alcohol, set our own hours, select from many spaces where we would have the ceremony versus reception, and even bring in a second late night food vendor (i.e. a taco cart set up right on the patio). Our guests continue to contact us and comment on how unique and personal our wedding turned out to be. Everyone (including the bride and the groom) had a great time, and we would choose to have our wedding here 100% if given the option to do everything again. Oh and we can't forget the owners. They are professional all of the way. They were extremely responsive to our questions via e-mail and made the whole experience great fun. Thanks John and Lane!

Mountain House Estate, I remember Lane’s warmth, kindness and love of her property instantly sticking out. She happily showed us around and we were so taken back by how beautiful it was. She let us have a moment up at the Oak tree sight and I started to tear up because I knew we had found our spot. We rolled the dice and chose a February wedding date and while we had planned to get married at the Oak tree and the reception in their courtyard, the weather did not allow this. The amazing part about MHE is the amount of Plan B locations it allows. We ended up renting a tent and having our ceremony inside. It was just as beautiful as if we had it at the Oak tree. We are so thankful for John and Lane’s responsiveness and genuine interest in their brides and grooms success. We can’t speak highly enough and thank them for allowing us to choose their venue for our big day!

The only issue we ran into was wanting to utilize all the spaces, which was no fault of the venue itself. As I mentioned, it is not a one stop shop type of place. I will admit it added more decisions to the long list of to dos, but more importantly it gave us the ability to personalize every aspect of our day in order to reflect our love. John and Lane were super helpful and informative in the months leading up to our wedding day. They went above and beyond to make sure all our questions were answered and to offer guidance of what’s worked well in the past. They both take so much pride in their property and have worked so hard to update the estate and property while maintaining its rustic beauty. To this day, every time we talk to one of our guests, they boast about what a beautiful day it was. We are so glad everyone loved it as much as we did! And our photos are our lasting memory of just how perfect everything was. Thanks again, John and Lane!!

I was annoyed with myself for months that I had chosen a venue so far from where we live, but the guests loved getting out of the Bay and taking some time to relax - there are truly plenty of VRBOs and AirBnbs in the area. As soon as we arrived to Cloverdale the Thursday before our wedding, we were so at peace, no distractions like we would have had at home. Some things our guests said were "That was the most beautiful, relaxed, joyful, FUN, and nature involved wedding we have been to". Just be aware that the venue does have many rules, however that is the case with most everywhere in California. This venue does allow you to have hard alcohol - but more insurance is needed. Your flower girls can throw flower petals, but for a hefty price (so we chose something else instead). Absolutely NOTHING can be brought the day before during your rehearsal - this can make day of more complicated. I hardly interacted with the owner, as everything was through our FANTASTIC wedding coordinator (Lacey at Stacey Goods Farm and Events).

My favorite part of our wedding was our ceremony at oak tree terrace. There are lots of ways to use all the spaces at MHE, but I can’t recommend enough that you use oak tree terrace. It was magic. We will never forget saying our vows under the oaks in such a beautiful place. This venue is special, and I feel like they never host the same wedding twice because there are so many different ways to use the property. Thanks for such a great wedding day Lane and John.

bar and Patio are gorgeous. The bridal suite is more than comfortable to get ready in and most of the owners of Mountain House Estate are so accommodating to all their wedding parties needs. John and Lane are amazing. We will never forget our day. Many of our guest thanked us for being invited to such an elegant place.

the estate, that means you can make the day into whatever you want and the whole venue is stunning. Three other big reasons we chose Mountain House: 1. We could get the venue until Midnight which in Sonoma it is really hard to find venues that will go past 10pm. 2.BYO alcohol and being permitted to provided spirits to our guests - again many venues in Sonoma will only allow beer and wine (and being english and australian not having spirits would have been an issue!) 3.Although they have an expansive list of preferred vendors at different budget options, you can use any vendors so long as they have the right insurance and are fully licenced. I was really worried that we and guests were going to boil in the August sun but the venue gets a really good breeze and so even though Sam was in a three piece suit and I had long sleeves we were totally fine with the temperature. John and Lane were fantastic at answering my millions of questions. I booked our venue nearly two years ahead of time so they got alot of questions over that time and were always very fast at replying which I really appreciated. Also over the two years John and Lane were always adding extra touches to the venue e.g the fire pit wine barrels, groomsmen suite and reno of the main room, all were done between booking the venue and our wedding day so we ended up with an even better experience than what we had expected. They are always improving the venue which is awesome. You can tell they genuinely want you to have the best day of your life and I am so glad we chose this venue for our special day.

the estate there are several rooms available to rent for the weekend, which makes setting up, getting ready, cleaning up, etc. so much more manageable and helps take the stress off from having to do everything on the day of the event. It's very spacious so the guests never feel like they are crammed into any particular area and the inside of the main house was recently redone, making it feel so much more rustic. I understand that grooms don't often review things related to weddings, but this place is so great that I decided to be an exception. What I love about our contact Lane at the property is that she had a preferred vendor list so she can tell you her experiences with them. She can also tell you about the nearest places for guests and food. She also was very prompt in emailing us back with questions we had along the way. The location was very private, intimate, and personable. Everyone kept asking us how we found this place. I'm all about doing something different than other weddings and this venue definitely makes you stand out from the rest. This place has tables, chairs, a place for you bridal party to get ready and a separate place for the groomsmen. You can have both an indoor and outdoor or garden reception/ceremony. You can make this a Country Barn Wedding, a Garden Wedding, etc in an Estate Setting. They have rooms available - I would do the weekend package to stay there package. It's nice to have the place to yourself the wedding rehearsal, the wedding, and enjoy time with your close family/friends. If you want a wedding where you can put your own personal touch to - this is the place. It is definitely something you would see in a magazine/pintrest worthy and something your guests will rave about in the years to come.
