so much fun! We were very comfortable. Whitney's photos are beautiful and I am so glad we got to work with her.

. In fact, she was my only photographer choice; in my mind, there was no other option. See, I had been following Whitney on Instagram for a few years. And while not local to the ADKs, I visit them multiple times a year, and I always knew that some part of my love story would take place there. Sure enough, Jeff proposed to me one December in Lake George, and I immediately reached out to Whitney for engagement photos the following fall in Lake Placid. If I had it my way, we would have also been married in the ADKs, but given family arrangements and travel, we decided to stay local on Long Island. Once we made that decision, I briefly looked at some LI/NYC based photographers, all the while saying, “this one KINDA is like Whitney… this one SORTA has a Whitney feel…” until I thought, wait, maybe Whitney can just travel down to LI — and travel she did! We got married this past December (2022), and we knew getting married in December on Long Island could really mean any type of weather — we were NOT expecting pouring rain and 50 MPH wind guests. I’ll never forget looking outside the window that morning and getting a text from Whitney — she was at our photo location (a lighthouse on the north shore); she told me the weather was dicey and she was up for anything, so what did I want to do. I didn’t hesitate, pretty sure I legit said, “F it, I’m game if you’re game” — of course, she was game! And we got, truly, my favorite photos of the wedding — rain, wind, freezing bridal party, and all! In many bridal Facebook Groups, brides would say their photographers wouldn’t go outside in the rain, not Whitney. Or photographers who didn’t go and scout the location, not Whitney. Or photographers with exhaustive shot lists or ultimately missed photos, not Whitney. Or photographers who could not tweak timelines/locations on the fly, not Whitney. Or photographers were not delivering sneak peeks or albums until months later, not Whitney. Simply put, Whitney is a bad*ss — she was dressed for all terrains; handled my bridal party with ease, humor, and patience, all while keeping us right on track; and I knew so confidently that if ANYTHING popped up that day, Whitney would help navigate the situation and figure out a solution. If you’re reading this and already like her photos/style, I can assure you her personality is even more incredible. Feeling so anxious and overwhelmed the day of, it was nice to just speak to her or watch her take detail shots — she was never out of reach and always in tune with what myself or the whole bridal party needed. She’s organized AF and was the only vendor I worked with to offer so much advice, resources, and a detailed email paper trail ahead of the wedding. I could write a novel, but I echo with what every other 5 star reviewer has said (and there’s a reason she only has 5 stars) — Whitney is a dream, and we thank every higher power that she was available to shoot our wedding day. No matter where you live, PNW, ADKs, anywhere — I promise you won't make a better choice than booking Whitney <3

and was immediately amazed at her work. After our initial chat over FaceTime we both loved her personality and knew we wanted her to be our photographer. When the week of our special day finally arrived, the weather was looking extremely iffy. Typical September in the ADKs! We booked an adventure elopement package and our plan was to hike Jay Mountain and have our ceremony at sunset. Knowing that the weather might present issues for our original plan, Whitney developed several alternate options for us, even offering to do something the day before! She really went above and beyond. We decided to hope for the best and initially stuck to our original plan. The weather in the morning was perfect and we were able to get photos together, with our two dogs and with our immediate family at our AirBnb. By the time we were ready to begin hiking, clouds quickly started covering the sky. We still pressed on. As we hiked, you could feel the temperature drop and it started to rain. We reached the first overlook and were fully socked in a cloud! We had time on our side and Whitney was down to do whatever we felt most comfortable with. We ultimately ended up hiking back down and doing our ceremony along the Ausable River. Despite the crazy weather and a last minute change in plans we still had the absolute best day. We will always have great stories to tell and will be forever grateful for Whitney’s creativity, flexibility and top notch talent!

We did a small Elopement in Lake Placid and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. We are so blessed to have Whitney’s beautiful images of our day throughout our home to remind us of our special day. I am sad she will not be in New York for future shoots, but Oregon is getting a fantastic photographer. On top of that, she is an incredible resource. She lets you know right off the bat, she is there to help you throughout the entire process (regardless of whether it even has to do with your photos or not). She is the best sounding board for all your wedding planning because she is a true professional and she'll give you an honest opinion. When I initially stumbled upon her Instagram, I was toying with the idea of having a destination wedding in the Adirondacks. We hadn't booked anything yet - but I was definitely drawn to the woodsy, gorgeous lake setting of the Adirondacks. Scrolling through her pictures, I was gob smacked. So artistic, so intimate, so whimsical! I decided we ***had*** to book her and she captured our wedding in Lake Placid so beautifully! I truly could not imagine the wedding day or wedding planning without Whitney and I could never thank her enough for the gift of her photography!

I had not met Whitney prior to the wedding as my daughter had made all the arrangements. What was immediately obvious to me, as father of the bride, was the connection Whitney had established with my daughter and how quickly she ingratiated herself to both sides of the family. Creating the ideal timeline so that you're never in a rush? Finding the right outfit (or even borrowing from her huge client closet)? Coordinating timelines among vendors? She's got it all covered and more. Whitney is also a stellar communicator. She responded to our questions and my rambling emails way faster than I anticipated with tons of details, making planning and coordinating a much smoother experience. We were lucky enough to meet Whitney a month before our wedding (yay for her transition to the PNW!), where we recognized her ability to make you feel immediately at ease. Even if you're goofy and self-conscious in front of a camera like us, Whitney will gently guide you into a session with tips, prompts, and funny stories to keep you feeling relaxed and natural. When it finally came to our wedding, seeing Whitney again was like greeting one of our close friends. Everyone loved working with her and she somehow managed to work through our family/bridal party shot list with time to spare so that we could take part in the cocktail hour! I would say I have no idea how she managed that, but it's because she is on top of everything at all times (and even maintains a relaxed air throughout it all). Her finished photos are stunning and her editing process is super speedy too. Hiring Whitney is a gift to yourself--you will enjoy every moment working with her and will treasure the final products. I'm already scheming how our paths can cross again...ideally as soon as possible.

rt of the reason it was so perfect was Whitney. Talk about one of the most genuinely kind and happy souls you’ll ever encounter! Whitney was the utmost professional while shooting our engagement session, but that didn’t stop her from having fun with us- and Gus! She laughed when we laughed and never for one second made us feel awkward about being our authentic selves. Her shooting style was just the right vibe for us, mostly candids with some guidance here and there. From the perspective of the proposed: The photos we have from that day are amazing and looking at them transports me right back. I look through our gallery often with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes- I’m not kidding, they’re that good! The funny/kind of awkward things she has you try when she’s shooting seem SO WEIRD at first but looking at our gallery, I can see why they work. Who would think of acting like you were just a tad too tipsy after leaving a pub-crawl? Whitney! One of the BIGGEST bonuses from our shoot was evening of sneak-peaks, they were the perfect way to show our friends and family that we got engaged. From the perspective of the proposer: My original proposal plan fell to pieces due to COVID travel restrictions, and just when I thought all was lost- Whitney saved the day! I knew the time and a place, but finding the right photographer was a whole other battle as not all photographers are LGBTQ-friendly. Thankfully, Whitney made the process smoother than I ever anticipated. She ran through my plan with me and how I could make it work; we Facetimed/text and Whitney was so easy to talk to. Thanks to her brilliant acting skills, we were able to keep it a surprise until the very last second (literally, when my knee hit the ground)! I couldn’t be happier with our photos, it’s exactly what I wanted- Jess and I being ourselves and our love shining through. Whitney has ruined us and set such high expectations for ANYONE who ever takes photos for us in the future. We can guarantee this will not be the last time we see her!! She continued to flood my Instagram feed with breathtaking photographs for the next four years before we decided to book her as our own photographer. Not only did I want a photographer that could deliver a beautiful gallery of photos like Whitney does, but I also wanted a photographer that specialized in small, intimate weddings in the great outdoors. My husband and I ended up having a hybrid-style wedding. We met Whitney EARLY on our wedding day to hike to a remote location for our private vows. We then met our small group of friends and family for a morning ceremony by the lake followed by a simple brunch reception. Now, we have Whitney’s stunning photographs of our wedding day on display in our home and I obsess over them daily. We spoke with a few other photographers in the Lake Placid Area and had a variety of hesitations with each - they were either too stiff, too formal, too much pressure to make an immediate decision, etc . When we spoke with Whitney for our first time she put zero pressure on us to commit, worked with us to make a schedule that fit around our goals for the day, and was overall extremely adaptable. She responds in a timely manner and works with you to get the best package figured out. Whitney loves what she does and it shows while she works. Everyone in the wedding loved having Whitney around! Prior to our session, Whitney showed up to make sure that she had located perfect areas to conduct our photoshoot - no time was wasted in finding the perfect photo spots once our session started. She shot a session with myself and the groom in the snow and it was a fun, fluid session. We had a lot of laughs throughout. None of the poses were forced or overly stiff due to Whitney's ability to make people feel at ease. During intimate moments Whitney was able to fade into the background and still capture the perfect shots. We are all thrilled with how the photos from our wedding turned out and thankful that we got to have Whitney with us for our wedding day.

Whitney treats every couple the same, no matter how big or small your elopement or wedding party is. It was just me and my husband present at our elopement but Whitney made us feel like a priority amongst her many other couples every step of the way. Anytime I had a question, Whitney was extremely quick to respond and was able to provide such helpful advice. Her planning guide that she provides once you book with her was SO helpful and not only listed a ton of recommended vendors, but helpful tips for the day of your elopement such as what to bring, what to wear, and ideas for things to do. We ended up booking an AirBnb from her guide and we loved it! One of the benefits of hiring Whitney is that she lives right in the Adirondacks region and knows the most beautiful, secluded spots to get married. We trusted her to pick a location for us and have no regrets. She really works with each couple to customize their big day to their wants/needs and then crafts a timeline so that you know what to expect. We never had our photos taken prior to our elopement and were worried about looking awkward in front of the camera. Whitney makes you feel so relaxed and never forces you to do something you don't want to do. We had an absolute blast and our time with her flew by. Whitney sent us our sneaks peeks and full album in lightning speed and this was during her busiest season in the Fall. All of our friends and family have been amazed by her work and we can't stop looking at our photos! I don't know how Whitney does it but all I know is that you will not have any regrets hiring her. She was so amazing to work with and the way she handled everything the day of gave my husband and I so much peace and security on our big day. That’s important and not something everyone can do. It wasnt expected it was something she just did! She helped to manage things way outside of her pay / contract. She went with the flow, was never pushy and didn’t make those dreaded portrait photos ever feel awkward or forced! I spent so much time reviewing the images she masterfully put together and she nailed it. Every detail. Every shot. Nothing was missing. I can’t even believe Whitney did what she did on her own without another photographer. I think she was on average in 57 places at once, while also tending to my potentially needy but definitely sensitive father. r was put to an end with a small ceremony event that she helped us plan. You hear horror stories within the wedding industry this year- Vendors and clients unable to compromise with contracts under these unforeseen circumstances. But thank god that wasn’t our situation. Whitney gratuitously worked with us to come up with another plan (after helping tremendously with Plan A), despite it being less lucrative and more work for her! Our day and our photos were far more intimate and relaxed than they ever would have been with Plan A. Whitney is in it for all the right reasons and we are so blessed to have had her capture and be a huge part of our special day, the brightest part of 2020. She is not only passionate but extremely talented and can make even the most awkward of awkward turtles look damn good in photos.

o much fun during our engagement shoot with her, and are even more excited for our wedding (if that was possible). You definitely want someone that you will enjoy being around on your wedding day, especially if it is the just two of you and her. She is genuine, caring, witty and fun! Also, she says that she does wedding photos and does your family because they are part of the wedding. Given that I have family members with special needs, I was a little nervous about this, so added some time to our engagement session to have her take family pictures. Well some of my favorite pictures she took are of my family and the real emotion and love she was able to capture. I certainly can't say that my fiancé and I are the most photogenic, or have mastered not being awkward in front of the camera, but I am confident we will have pictures that make us look less awkward and capture all the emotion of the day. I can’t wait work with Whitney more and highly recommend her!

t you might not get from her photos alone is her authenticity and the actual effort she puts in to get to know her subjects personally. It’s amazing how much more natural you are going to look in your photos if you feel comfortable with the person on the other side of the camera who embraces your weirdness and awkwardness as much as you do.   So yes, with Whitney you get the “WOW” shots (seriously, be prepared for audible gasps!) that look like movie posters, and even the “for your parent’s mantle” shots. But what you also get is someone who cares about the people and the places she is shooting. Whitney will have scouted your location for the best light, have the timing of sunrise (or sunset) down to the minute, have a list of your family's names to make sure you don’t miss any group shots, and most importantly will happily listen to you talk for 2+ hours straight up a mountain so you can adequately warn any bears that may be lurking in the dark.   Whitney worked with us every step of the way to be able to photograph both our small, more traditional wedding as well as our sunrise hike up a high peak the next day with us to capture our private vows/love in the place that we love. We feel so lucky to be able to look back at the story of the weekend through the photographs Whitney took for years to come.

Her calm and carefree demeanor was exactly what we were looking for and after the first phone call, I knew she was perfect for our wedding day. We first met when she shot our engagement photos where I was a bit nervous about being photographed but she made it so easy. Not only does she have great energy, but she also has the absolute best sense of humor - infamous for great one-liners. it would be the best decision and we would have the best time of our lives! My husband and I were supposed to get married in Hawaii, but – thanks 2020 – could not travel there. Neither of us had been to the Adirondacks before, but we felt fairly certain that we would be able to travel to NY from NJ despite the virus. We discovered Mountainaire Gatherings on Instagram, and something about her photos just resonated with us. We slept on the idea of eloping in the Adirondacks, then reached out to her. Two days later we were video chatting with Whitney. She requires this of all prospective couples to be sure that we like her (and I suppose vice versa) before booking her. While it may seem awkward at first, it does really help break the ice and you don't show up to your wedding day trusting a stranger to document your day - she's a friend and we truly felt that way, After signing the contract, Whitney jumped into planning mode. Whitney is super responsive via email. We probably exchanged emails daily, especially in the beginning stages of planning. She was our photographer, our officiant (although she does not offer this service for all her packages), our wedding planner and our unofficial local guide. In other words, she is invaluable to us. She planned our elopement in literally less than five weeks. We knew nothing about the ADK, so we relied on her and her experience for so much. Whitney helped us decide where to stay – she even sent us ideas of cabins to rent that would photograph well just in case the weather didn't work in our favor. She sent us a bunch of itineraries based on what she knew about what we wanted out of our day, and with this, we knew that she HEARD what we said. There are so many things we love about Whitney but here are a few highlights: She is honest and transparent. She wants you to enjoy your day, so she will objectively lay things out for you to choose how you want your day to go, but with realistic expectations. She wants you to be prepared. A week or two before our elopement, she sent us weather expectations, tips on how to prepare, etc. In her free time, she finds new trails and her hard work pays off. The trail we ended up choosing was a trail she recently explored. On the evening of our elopement, we were the only people on the mountain (we passed three people coming down as we were going up). Yes, the High Peaks are cool, but having an entire mountain to ourselves is rad as heck! Whitney is just an amazing human. She's humble, she works hard. She is hilarious! We laughed so much together and had so much fun. It really feels like you are hiking and hanging out with a friend, she makes it that comfortable. As a one woman operation, she also managed to capture more perspectives and vantage points than we thought possible, and her turnaround time is impressive. Her photography skills are unparalleled. Our friends and family cannot believe the photos from our elopement are real, because Whitney is THAT good. Whitney literally saved our 2020. She made our wedding happen, and she made it even better than we could have imagined. Our day was so magical, intimate and absolutely perfect! We cannot recommend Mountainaire Gatherings enough! We met in the dark at the trailhead, hiked (and slipped!) up the mountain in the dark, froze our buns off at the top - and were rewarded with the most ridiculously beautiful photos!! Whitney even carried my bouquet on the hike when it wouldn't stay tucked into my backpack! She's personable as well as professional. We chatted the whole hike up, and at the top she knew exactly where to have us stand/walk/move to get the best photos. Some of her ideas sounded silly to us at the time but resulted in the most gorgeous images! Plus the smiles were genuine (maybe that was her plan all along)! At one point she was snapping away and finally said, "Look behind you!" I was thinking there was a bear or something...nope, a big, beautiful rainbow! The day couldn't have been more perfect! She delivered our gallery promptly (4 weeks) even during a super busy season and every single image is gorgeous. We highly recommend Whitney and would absolutely work with her again!!

That photo doesn't look real!!" reactions from family and friends. They have all been blown away - as have we - by the beauty of the photos. On a personal note, Whitney is awesome to work with. She has a warm, laid-back attitude, flexibility, and a sense of humor in hectic and tense situations (which is invaluable during a crazy wedding weekend!). From our engagement photo shoot onwards, she made me and my husband feel comfortable and casual, and I truly appreciated all of her additional advice beyond just photo-related wedding details, from flowers to event timelines. She was a huge help, and our family and wedding party loved her too. She also has a great sense of adventure, so if you're up for a mountain-top photo shoot, wading through some streams, or frolicking in the woods, she's the one for you! We will be eternally grateful for how wonderful Whitney was to work with, and how perfectly she captured so much of the pure emotion and beauty of our wedding weekend. in love with her work. I figured she was already booked for our wedding date, but decided to take a chance and contacted her. We lucked out, and she happened to be available!. We met through FaceTime, and we hit it off. Soon after our “meeting” we setup our engagement photo session, which we did at Hope Falls in Hope, NY. Both my husband and I, dislike getting our photos taken, and we were a little nervous for the photo shoot. Whitney was amazing, she takes photos in a way that makes you feel super comfortable, and she uses techniques that allows you to be more natural instead of just standing in awkward poses. We had a great time during our session! Before we got all of our photos, she did a couple sneak peaks on social media, and then we got all of our photos in an online gallery. She did such an amazing job, and I loved every photo. Our wedding day was no different! She was so great, and easy to work with, and made all of our friends and family feel comfortable being photographed. I am so happy with all of the photos from our wedding day, they capture the whole day perfectly! I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with Whitney, she is super nice, awesomely talented, and an overall wonderful person. If you are looking for THE BEST wedding photographer, then you have to hire Whitney!
