This was hands down the one of the best wedding planning decision we made. Lori is so organized and helpful to work with and even helped us find additional vendors. The space is an...
absolute steal for the price- our jaws dropped when we saw the venue decorated and couldn't believe it was our own wedding! The uplighting and windows look like a million bucks, especially once the sun sets, and the exhibits were so fun for our guests. We were blessed with beautiful weather and the patio was also a huge hit for mingling. We ended up with around 170 guests and found the space perfect for a sit-down reception of that size. Book this venue, you will NOT regret it!!!
We sort of fell into the Museum at Prairiefire as our ceremony and reception venue, and we're very happy we did! The weather cooperated so we were able to have our ceremony on thei...
r patio, giving us a stellar backdrop and eliminating the need for flowers or other decor. Guests were able to take pictures of their own outside of the venue, enjoying the stainglass backdrop.
We had our reception inside and, again, did not require much additional decor. The T-rex stole the show, and with around 70 guests, were were 100% comfortable. The MAP provided the tables and chairs and our caterer (Brancato's) set everything up. The MAP requires you use a Prairiefire patron as your caterer, which threw us at first, but their relationships with all of the local vendors helped make all the planning really easy.
One of the best parts about the fee for renting the venue is that a portion of it is tax deductible!
This venue was just perfect for us! It was such a unique place, our whole family loved it. The colorful glass on the building and amazing greener around the building made for a per...
fect setting for our photos. I do know some people have commented about coordination issues, but we worked Laura Hamilton and she was just amazing! She helped us through the whole booking process and was there for us the day of the wedding. I have no regrets about booking our event here.
First off I have to say this place is gorgeous and creates a great backdrop for wedding photos so there is no need to travel which is super convenient! I'll admit we went through q...
uite a few coordinators from the initial booking however once Laura starting working with us we felt very confident that our night would be great. The museum was super accommodating on the day of and we had no issues getting our vendors in early to setup in time for the night. All our guests commented on how amazing the venue was... I would definitely recommend!
Beautiful venue... but... horribly frustrating to work with. coordination is poor. you will get a different answer to your question depending on who you ask. we had friends and...
family MISS our wedding because the museum told us the incorrect time we were allowed to set up.- so they had to stay behind and set up reception! my tip - take pictures outside and have your reception somewhere else.
I will begin with all of the good - It was a beautiful place to host a wedding. The multi-colored glass on the façade of the building makes a wonderful backdrop for pictures. The T...
-Rex display is an awesome attribute. Our guests (we had some kids) loved the TV showing the dance floor and the dinosaurs that would come across the screen. (The T-Rex eats you.)
The Museum is easy to work with. They have tables and chairs that we had access to, along with high tops, ancillary tables for the buffet, cake, gifts, candy bar, dj, photobooth, ice cream vendor, etc. They also did not charge us for extra vendors.
All in all, it was phenomenal. I would highly recommend it.
The negative is that we felt the event coordinator misled us in the beginning and just said all the right things to win our contract. She was very accommodating in the beginning. (Background: The museum is open on Saturdays from 10 am - 5 pm. Our ceremony was at 5 at a church down the street. Our vendors only had from 5-6 pm to set up. To give them more time, we did a cocktail hour on the terrace from 6-7. Her idea so that was wonderful.) However, she said she would assist with set up. I could give her a picture of how I wanted the candy bar display to look and she would take care of setting it up. She would handle the receiving of the flowers and placing of the centerpieces, again if I provided a picture. There would be a fee associated with her services (about $200). We were sold.
At our second meeting about 3 months out from the wedding date, her tuned completely changed. She doesn't do any labor. We had to have someone else do all of that set up. She said the $200 she was referring to was to pay the valet company to set up the table and chairs. (I took very meticulous notes during our initial meeting as well as had 6 other people with me - my groom, sister, mom, dad, his mom and his sister - and we all had it that she would help us.) We scrambled to find a family friend who could act as our event coordinator and be on site to help facilitate our vision while we were getting married. We also worked with our caterer and bartenders, all of which was provided by Garozzo's Italian Restaurant. (They were so awesome. I cannot rave enough about them. Tonya is amazing! But, that is another review!) Garozzo's was extremely helpful and took over a lot of that for us.
Looking back there were only minor hiccups along the way, the actual event was stunning. I only wish the Museum coordinator had been more upfront with us about her role. Her lack of involvement would not have changed our minds in using the museum; it would have prevented a lot of unnecessary stress.
