Once you book this venue, you already have the default choice of catering through Marisol, which is an automatic "win". This means Catering and Venue teams work together regularly ...
and smoothly. The food is excellent and the caterers work hard to meet your individual/custom needs.
I wanted an outdoor wedding experience and was able to achieve this in their terrace garden; the back-up "weather plan" indoors might be another bride's first choice and would have been amazing as well. It's unique to find this in the city. Close to Michigan Avenue, our hotel block was within walking distance and our guests used the weekend to plan Chicago tourist experiences as well.
The dancing and music was inside, allowing guests to view galleries, mingle, and dance inside, or continue conversation outside on a beautiful Chicago summer evening without loud music interference.
All of our vendors had positive experiences working with MCA venue & catering coordinators. At the MCA, there are so many options that allow you to customize your special day and we were so grateful that our dream day became a spectacular reality and provide an exceptional Chicago Wedding experience for our guests.
We loved this museum for our wedding day and it is special that we can visit it throughout the year to continue to make happy memories.
This was the most perfect venue.
1. Hannah and her team worked flawlessly to ensure the day went smoothly.
2. The catering was SO good and the service was superb.

tself was beautiful - being able to use multiple spaces made the day feel so special.
MCA has wonderful venue, fantastic food but they just can’t get it out in timely manner. It was 45 minutes late for 50 per cent of our wedding attendees. This three timing of wed...
ding off. They were not willing to extend timing even though that was totally their fault. We also had contracted for three bartenders but only two were initially provided. Again that was major inconvenience for wedding. JoanC
My wife and I had our wedding in May at the MCA. We booked the venue roughly a year ahead of our date. As my wife and I live in Los Angeles, we had to communicate with the staff re...
motely but Mary and Chaz were easy to work with. We did the food tasting over the Thanksgiving holidays week while visiting. I should note all the food options at the wedding were excellent! Nearly all of our guests traveled for the wedding and everyone remarked to us afterwards how they loved the food. Mary was able to work with us on food and drink options along with some allowances for a few of our guests’ dietary requirements. The day before the wedding, we did a walk-thru and the day of, the wedding went off without a hitch. Chaz made sure we had spaces to store things (such as our chuppah) and rooms for changing. We had the ceremony and cocktail hour outside and dinner inside. The staff was excellent in making sure my wife and I had food and drinks at all times and everything during both the cocktail hour and dinner was handled well. Overall, our wedding was amazing with lots of space for dancing and roaming the exhibits. We had a ton of fun and didn’t have to worry about a thing thanks to Mary, Chaz, and their staff.
This is a wedding reception review. My husband & I had our reception at the MCA beginning of June this year & everything went so smoothly! Kristy & Mary were amazing to work with l...
eading up to the big day. They were all very easy to work with & no request went unheard. We would highly recommend this as your venue if you're looking for a fun, unique, cool place. We were able to have cocktails outside on the terrace. Our band played in the cafe area & I didn't think the acoustics were too bad. Our guests had nothing but great things to say & we were told numerous times that we had the most fun wedding they had ever been to. The food was excellent- we had three stations along with a dessert table plus late night snacks! Most weddings I go to the food is not that great but their catering was outstanding!
The only bad thing is you probably won't know what will be in the exhibits until a few months before the event so you'll have to be flexible. We had surrealism which was a little weird but we just went with it. The other exhibit was opening the day of our reception but they allowed me a sneak peek so I wasn't surprised about what was being displayed for my guests. You won't be able to take pics in the exhibit but you'll get some gorgeous shots outside the front/back of the MCA & on their beautiful staircase.
The MCA is also a great, small museum if you love modern art. Their gift shop is also really cool & you can always find an unconventional gift. We have a yearly membership with them & it's so worth it! Plus if you get married here they'll give you a yearly one for free!
We celebrated our wedding reception at the Museum of Contemporary Art in late July. Chaz was easy to work with in preparation to know how best to use the space, and he helped it g...
o smoothly the day of transitioning an outdoor cocktail hour inside minutes ahead of the guests during a downpour. Mary managed the food side, and was extremely organized and fun to work with! The food was delicious!! The team was accommodating with pre-planning and day of activities, especially as I planned our wedding from out of town (day of coordinator). I know the whole MCA crew was busy behind the scenes, but the delivery is flawless!! Overall, the venue works well for a great dance party, with quiet tables for people to connect, and see beauty with a museum visit! Really a great combination for a wedding celebration!
Beautiful location - but limited say in art selection during your event obviously. Comes with Wolfgang Puck catering. Great quality but is on the expensive side.
the MCA was fantastic all around -- easy to work with, their staff was great in helping to plan and provide a little hand-holding along the way where needed, and was classy and dif...
ferent from your standard, stuff wedding venue. with gorgeous weather, we were able to have the ceremony outdoors and a fabulous reception inside (and throughout, guests were allowed to wander through the galleries as a nice side-touch). loved it all around!
