I was recently married in Birmingham, Alabama at the Ross Bridge Renaissance Resort. When it came time to book a DJ service for the reception, I contacted Music Garden which works as a booking agent for numerous bands/DJ services in the local ...area. One word...BEWARE!!! The booking agent matched us up with "2 Guys DJ Service." I was told through the booking agent that 2 Guys would play or Not play whatever songs we wanted. I spent hours creating song lists and was extremely disappointed when the majority of what we had requested was not played. I was even more disturbed when I specifically stated not to play a song, and the DJ played it.
Even more unsettling is that I could not find a website or any contact information on 2 Guys DJ Service. So I was not able to have direct contact with the actual DJ prior to the wedding. The booking agent tried to reassure us that they were great and he would be the go-between for the DJ. Never trust anyone who says this to you when planning your wedding!! Most disturbing was when the booking agent had requested final payment a week prior to the wedding...and in his personal name. Strange? Yes, I reminded him the terms of the contract and stated I preferred to stick to the contract and make final payment at closure of the event...and in the "artists" name...2 Guys DJ Service. He then informed me that 2 Guys DJ Service did not have a bank account set up in their business name. Interesting...I stuck to my guns and made payment the day of the event in "Music Gardens " name. The booking agent was so annoyed and seemed so concerned about getting his little hands on the cash he even showed up at the reception to get the check. He wanted to know which wedding coordinator would have the check and at what time. I am still trying to get to the bottom of this little charade, but I am wondering why is was so important that he (the booking agent) have the check and NOT the DJ? I am concerned that the person who in fact showed up as the DJ at my reception may not have been 2 Guys DJ Service. I do have a photo of the DJ and am going to attempt to verify who in fact this person was who poorly DJ'd at my reception!!!
2 Guys DJ Service is a Ipod DJ. He was wholly unprepared for several songs that were requested, in fact he managed to mess up a military tribute song. What I do not understand is how pressing the "play" button on his mac laptop is that difficult. Furthermore, his microphone was in such poor condition, you could not understand nor hear him. It was disappointing to find out later that the other side of the reception hall did not even realize we were cutting the cake. Although Ross Bridge is a large venue, we had only half of the ballroom with 80+ guests...so it was not a large reception and no excuse for the DJ's microphone to be of such poor quality.
All I can say is if you want a professional DJ service, 2 Guys Dj Service is not what you want...and Music Garden was a huge disappointment!!!
