The team is comprised of six talented and experienced DJs with 20+ years of being in the business and the wedding industries. From wireless and lapel microphones for toasts to speakers, flat screens, projectors, and karaoke, we're a one-stop shop for all your party needs. Once you have signed up with MIM, you can get started with planning the Big Day - Using Music in Motion's online planning tools on our website you can be as involved as you want to be in the process! Everything is online and easy to use; from entering your important info like your Bridal Party Names, Introduction Songs, 1st dances, etc. to creating song request lists for when open dancing starts, to customizing all your wedding plans! Your DJ will review everything with you and will follow-up every few weeks just to keep in touch and say "hi".

Tim was the perfect choice to DJ our recent wedding! We talked to about 9 DJs before coming across Music in Motion. Even over the phone nobody was giving us the energy and professionalism we were looking for - enter Tim from Music in Motion. My fiancé and I immediately loved the conversation we had with Tim. We could tell how excited he was for us and his energy matched ours perfectly. Tim was very communicative with us leading up to our wedding and would often respond within an hour of our emails! On the day of our wedding Tim absolutely rocked it. He was so engaging as an MC and followed the music choices and ‘vibe’ we wanted for each segment of our reception exactly how we asked. We still have people coming up to us to tell us how amazing the music was! I would 10000% recommend reaching out to Tim if you’re looking for a wedding DJ!
Communication with Tim and Dj Rick was amazing! Everyone was on their feet all night! And Dj Rick took the extra time to check in on me right before I walked down and it was the little details that made the whole experience!
Best decision ever! Tim with Music in Motion truly made our wedding perfect! He is the most amazing DJ. He made the entire night flow so smoothly and seamlessly from the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and after dinner dancing. He was super fun and professional and knew exactly the right songs to play. He was constantly checking in with us to make sure we were doing good and keeping us updated. Truly a class act. He kept people dancing all night and we got so many compliments on the music. DJ Tim with Music in Motion is the best of the best!! Tim made our entire day seamless and assisted with so much to ensure everything was perfect. We got so many compliments on the songs all throughout the night and Tim has a gift for reading the room very well. He accommodated all our requests and just made it the best party ever. We can’t picture our day without him!! Definitely book with music in motion, can’t recommend them enough.
We hired Music In Motion for our wedding, and what an amazing choice it was! MIM Owner, Tim, was consistently in contact with us over the course of the year we were under contract with him. Then for our event, we had DJ Jimmy and he absolutely killed it. Everyone loved the music and the dance floor was busy all night long! Cannot recommend Music In Motion enough!!
DJ Shav was OUTSTANDING. Everyone commented on how fun and engaging he was and not to mention the bangers he was playing! We partied on the dance floor all night!! Every direction I gave in my planning form was executed to a T! My father/daughter dance was a mash up between 3 songs and he blended them so perfectly. The night was truly unforgettable, and it was a big thanks to DJ Shav!!!
DJ Bryan was AMAZING! There were people on the dance floor until the very end of the wedding (which does not always happen).

Jeff and Tim were absolutely amazing throughout the whole planning process up until the day of. Jeff, myself, and my husband connected very well and he was very in sync with our wants during our wedding. Jeff not only did an amazing job on the music, he also did an amazing job keeping me (the bride) calm and focused on the important things!
Words can’t express how thankful I am that we choose Music in Motion for our wedding. From the start Tim and his team were very informative and reached out often. It showed just how much they care about our day.
The day… wow just wow. Everything went so smooth and it was so easy. Tim took over and ran the day keeping things moving. From the ceremony to the reception. I am honestly so happy and didn’t have any issues, thanks to him. I didn’t even question or worry about where he was setting up, what he needed, or how to help. Highly recommend Tim and Music in Motion! Leading up to our wedding, Tim was fantastic at communicating, checked in often, answered all our questions, and made sure everything was on track. Shav was our DJ and was spectacular. He got everyone on the dance floor and the feedback from guests was great. He accommodated a big last minute request and made sure everything went smoothly. Would definitely recommend them to anyone getting married!
Tim Hicks was extremely personable and accommodating! He kept us in the loop with his plan throughout the night and checked in with us. He was also very flexible when our plans changed. Tim was awesome! He was our dj for our wedding in April 2024. We didn’t give him much direction on what music to play but his playlist got everyone up and dancing!! Even the boring people who didn’t want to dance, got up and moving! Totally recommend music in motion!
We booked with Tim for our wedding on 4/27/24. He was amazing to work with! Always checking in on us and getting back to us quickly. He captured exactly what we wanted for our day and it truly was everything we wanted. We wanted a party, everyone dancing all night and that's exactly what happened. We got SO many compliments on our music, and also him personally. We would recommend him over and over again!!!! He really made our wedding.
Josh was our wedding dj and he was fantastic. He got everyone dancing , all ages of guests! The music was very much tailored to our group of people, and was a wonderful experience . We didn’t want it to end. He included some extra little games and opportunities for us to interact with our guests which helped make things more engaging. Wonderful job.
I couldn’t have asked for a better DJ than Tim Hicks. I saw amazing reviews about him, so we reached out to him and he only exceeded our expectations! He has a great spirit and is very genuine and fun! For example, he made a game out of guests from each table being called up to the dance floor to take pictures with us, and it was so much fun and guests loved it! It was such a creative idea to get pictures with all of our guests! Not only that, but he seamlessly transitioned between songs and all of our guests were dancing the entire night. We looked at many different companies and DJs, and hiring Music in Motion was best idea we had, especially because Tim set the tone for the whole evening and he provided such a fun and lovely night for myself and husband and all our guests. Thank you again for everything!!! You can tell that the company and Tim truly care about their clients and making sure that they have the best time.
The music for our daughter's wedding reception was the only thing we were really disappointed with. It was way too loud for such a small room. MOB asked DJ to it down; FOB asked him to turn it down; bride asked him to turn it down. DJ was not friendly at all. Finally when our wedding coordinator asked him, he turned it down; unfortunately this was at the end of the night. Our guests were of all ages and we had many people leave early because they could not even talk with each other because the music was so loud. Even a couple of the young bridesmaids said it was too loud. We felt like the DJ totally disregarded what we, the paying customer, asked him to do and made the evening all about his music. The selection he played did not include songs the bride and groom requested ahead of time. At one point during the evening the groom requested a song - DJ told him he would add it to the bottom of the request list. (Really?? The groom's request!) It never did get played. Certainly not worth the $300/hr they charged. And when we asked to use one of their mics for the ceremony, they wanted to charge us $600. Incredible! Don't waste your money on Music in Motion from Woodstock, IL.

r everyone and we always try to do our best to keep it comfortable for all guests. It definitely sounds as if we failed in that regard here and I can't apologize enough for that. We are always trying to improve our service and sincerely appreciate this feedback, I will address this will all of our DJ's and ensure we do a better job as typically our volume levels are one of the most positive reviews from clients.
Regarding the song requests, we requested that the B/G submit any/all requests on our website multiple times over the last few months and they never did. More important, I can't explain why the groom didn't hear his request but there is no reason we would have responded that the DJ would "add it to the bottom of the list" - we give the B/G's requests top priority always. Perhaps the Groom didn't hear when it was played as he got pulled in a different direction for pics or chatting with family/friends or any number of reasons, as this happens very often - the B/G are always super busy and being pulled in different directions all evening. We do keep record of all songs played with timestamps, etc. and if you can provide the actual song request I can verify that it was played (or not played) if you like?
Last, I am not sure how the ceremony fee was interpreted to be $600, but I actually offered to the Bride as well as you and your coordinator that we would add 1.5 hrs to the contracted time and the 2nd sound & mic set up for the ceremony - for $100. I indicated that it would normally add $300 but that we'd be willing to come down $200 on our price to provide the ceremony sound/mic service for $100. Your coordinator replied back to you, the Bride and myself "Hi Tim, Thanks for getting back to me. After talking with Beth and Morgan, they are going to stay with what their contract is. From 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm." (declining the $100 ceremony sound/mic offer) --So I don't know how it was misinterpreted as you, the Bride, the coordinator and myself were all on the same email, but $600 was not even close to what we offered. We always try to be flexible, when it's possible, and I thought we were very much so in this case offering 1.5 hrs extra and a 2nd sound set up for only $100?
Again, we appreciate you taking the time to express your concerns and our deepest of apologies to you again that it wasn't the incredible night that we always want to provide our clients.

Djs are an important part of any wedding, but if you hire Music in Motion, specifically Tim Hicks, you will not have to worry about this part of the day. I've been to two different Music in Motion weddings and at both they killed it! They know how to blend transitions and order songs so well that your guests won't get off the dance floor!
I love Music in Motion! They DJ’d my sisters wedding and I loved them so much and needed them at my wedding. It’s so easy to work with Tim. I love their website for planning out the day. Our DJ Jimmy was awesome! He did everything I requested and more. He really kept the party going on the dance floor. I highly recommend.

Shav, Tim and the team at Music in Motion delivered in a big way for our July wedding! They were incredibly easy to work with and did an amazing job responding to the crowd throughout our wedding reception and playing the right songs at appropriate times.
Shav even added in a few surprise elements we hadn’t discussed beforehand and played off the crowd in a beautiful way, setting the tone at the start of the reception and during the ceremony, then keeping the party going late into the night.
When the power at our venue went out shortly before our ceremony, Shav kept in constant communication with our venue and day-of wedding coordinator to make sure everything would go seamlessly. Luckily, the power came back and everything went off without a hitch!

He had great communication throughout the year leading up to the wedding. The online process was super easy to upload all reception information and preferred songs. We had Tim for our wedding. We cannot describe how happy we were with Tim and the music. He was able to blend all of the genres we requested perfectly and made the night so fun for us and our guests. He was so prompt with emails and communication, even months before the wedding he would check in with us. That made us feel great. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ and company.

Tim was wonderful! My husband and I are thrilled we went with Music in Motion for our wedding. We got married at the Gardens of Woodstock, where Tim is a regular. It was apparent to us that we were excited to work with Music in Motion from our initial meetings. We first met with Tim, who demonstrated a deep knowledge and intuition about weddings and music, was very professional and easy to work with. He later linked us up with our DJ Rick & MC Josh, who we also met closer to the wedding to finalize details. They both were very friendly, asked great questions and were genuine about getting to know us as a couple so that they could cater to our personalities and to our taste in music. It was clear at the wedding that they used that knowledge to keep the flow of the wedding moving with their own music selections during transitional periods and the reception. They allowed us to have freedom of making the song requests that we knew absolutely wanted to hear, but also did not require us to get over-involved with the setlist as they were intuitive to our tastes and expertly knew how to read the room and cater to our audience with exceptional timing.
Rick & Josh also went above and beyond by doing things such as taking videos of our first dance and pictures throughout the party, bringing and maintaining such a positive energy and humor with all of our guests throughout the event, and lastly, taking the time to encourage our 9 year old daughter to perform a Frozen II song for all of the audience to hear, which will be a core memory from our wedding day.
We could not have been happier with this team and the work that they did for us. We have also received overwhelming feedback from many of our family & friends that Rick & Josh was the best DJ/MC team that they have ever witnessed at any previous wedding experiences.
Music in Motion was overall a good DJ. I was disappointed that a few things were forgotten. Jimmy was our DJ & he was so very sweet. They did not do the bouquet toss like we asked which was a little frustrating. We had interaction with Tim at another wedding a few weeks later & was very disappointed in his performance towards us. He was not very professional. Overall, music in motion was good. Just need a bit more communication & professionalism.
Loved working with Tim and JD. Tim was very responsive and made the process of getting set up so easy. JD was our DJ and did an absolutely wonderful job! He checked in with us throughout the night to make sure we were happy and did such a good job engaging the crowd. I highly recommend them!
Working with Tim was truly an amazing experience and we couldn't recommend him more! One of our biggest priorities for the day was making sure that our loved ones had the best time, and we felt that the music and DJ was obviously a huge piece in making that happen. Tim was extremely organized and professional throughout the entire process. Josh was our assigned DJ & he did not disappoint! Not only did he keep us moving and made sure the day ran smoothly, but he was also SO easy to work with leading up to it. Most importantly, he really listened to our preferences (we are admittedly very particular about our music taste!) while at the same time offering his professional experience and guidance whenever we asked/needed it. We booked Music in Motion 2 years ago as we were planning a 2020 wedding, due to the pandemic we had to push the reception to 2021 and that whole time, Tim would reach out every few months to check in on us. It was honestly really appreciated as we booked them so long ago, he still kept his couples top of mind. Jimmy Styx was our assigned DJ and he was wonderful, so nice and professional. I gave him creative liberty to read the room/play what he thought would keep people dancing. I hope he had as good of a time as all my guests did. Nothing bad to say about this company. Price was reasonable too!
Tim was AMAZING! We honestly couldn't have asked for a better DJ! Our guests are still talking about how great he was and everyone was dancing all night. He listened to our requests and made sure he read the crowd. He took suggestions from guests and played off what everyone wanted to hear. We loved how he faded into each song and there was never a dull moment! I would highly recommend Tim for any wedding or event that needs a DJ!

We are very happy we've hired Music in Motion. The moment we spoke with Tim, we knew we wanted to entrust our wedding event with them. The day of the wedding, we worked with Rick and Kyle. Rick played a vital role in pivoting our wedding plans given current circumstances. On that note, in our eyes, he already delivered above and beyond even before the wedding event in itself. He has such keen eye on details and provided us with loads of meaningful insight, a lot of which are things that we have not considered or even thought about, which helped shape the event beyond what we would have dreamt it to be. Rick was also very accommodating and helpful in finding us a virtual producer that was the one missing piece in realizing our dream wedding prior to speaking with him. The day of the event, he kept us organized and on track. All our requests have been honored and we couldn't be any happier. On top of that, Rick ensured that we are engaging both our in person and virtual guests which we know was tough to accomplish. We had the virtual folks dancing along with us with Rick leading both groups. He constantly engaged our daughters in helping lead the dance which kept them engage throughout reception as well. He even made sure that we were able to eat. The agenda he put together was very well thought of. We wanted to say we made history as we executed this hybrid wedding and we owe a huge part of that success to Rick. He has been our lifeline. We had enormous amount of great feedback from our virtual guests about how much they have enjoyed the evening. Rick and Kyle had everyone dancing - in person or virtual, across all ages. They are true professionals who have mastered their craft and are very passionate about what they do. If we can give them 10 stars, we will. Our experience was priceless and our gratitude overflowing.
I was very cautious about who I chose to DJ my wedding because both families and all our friends love to party, so we wanted to make sure that we set ourselves up for success. Tim. Was. AWESOME. I was actually sick on the wedding day and Tim was so helpful and kind. He made sure we were all in the loop and he kept checking in with me to make sure I was feeling okay and if I wanted to delay something so I could go sit down. Honestly, it felt like he was more of a family friend. With this, he was still an amazing professional. He takes his job very seriously. And his job is to make sure that 1- the schedule is what the bride and groom want, and 2- that everyone has fun. And he was very successful. I cannot thank Tim enough for what he did for us on our day and how amazing of a job he did. If you need a DJ in the area who will pump up your guests and do a seriously awesome job- give Tim a call. Thank you Music in Motion - it was a wonderful day! Everything was perfect. My husband and I thought Ricky did an awesome job the day of the wedding! I loved the music and had multiple compliments on the variety of songs played. Everyone really enjoyed the reverse anniversary dance, very unique. Even my uncle got up to join. It was a very special night and Music in Motion definitely helped create that party atmosphere. The planning process was clear and concise. Also, I thought it was a really nice that DJ Tim emailed/reached out to us throughout the year leading up to the wedding. It helped create more of a relationship and is something that stands out from all our other venders.
Tim was a fabulous DJ at my daughters wedding keeping the itinerary in tact the entire night ! The dance floor filled after the mother/groom dance and didn’t empty until the end of the night ! I definitely recommend Tim Hicks and Music in Motion.

Two months later, we still have friends and family telling us how amazing our dance floor was, and that is all thanks to Tim Hicks! I put together a small list of songs to play, but honestly, it was not necessary at all. Tim read the crowd all night and played the perfect mix of songs to keep our dance floor packed throughout our entire reception. From start to finish, he made the entire process so easy and clear, and helped us with any question we had. I could not recommend him enough!
I hired Tim Hicks with Music in Motion for our wedding on July 27, 2019. Music in Motion was one of the recommended vendors from our venue so I did my research and decided to contact him. I live in California and wasn’t able to meet Tim in person so I emailed him to discuss his DJ packages and what he had to offer. He was very responsive and professional. He answered all of my questions and was very helpful. I decided to hire him and I’m so glad that I did! We planned everything with Tim via email or his website which was very easy to use and then met Tim the night of our wedding. Tim was so friendly and down-to-earth when we met him and was just a super cool guy! I may be biased but I’ve never been to a wedding before where people were dancing ALL night long. Many of us didn’t want to leave at the end of the night because we wanted to continue to let Tim do his work! I definitely danced my heart out that night. The next day, people were coming up to us to tell us what a great job Tim did and how much fun they had at our wedding. Tim did such an awesome job for us and I can’t recommend him highly enough! You can definitely tell that Tim loves what he does and takes great pride in his work.
My wife and I hired Tim Hicks and MIM to DJ our wedour ding and what an amazing job he did. From the very instant we met Tim, he demonstrated a very high level of professionalism and a vast knowledge of music. We knew immediately upon meeting him that he was going to be awesome. His website was very easy to use and the music questionnaires proved to be a valuable tool in planning our reception. During the reception, Tim was an absolute rock star on the mic and he knew exactly the right music to play to keep our dance floor packed. Music in Motion was so easy to work with! They have an amazing online portal to fill out all the songs you want. Tim is super friendly and reaches out frequently to check in through the whole process. We had Jimmy as our DJ for the event and he was great! Read the room and played songs to get everyone dancing. Great DJ service!!
Tim was the best DJ ever!! He played all the right songs at exactly the right times! I don't think I ever left the dance floor! Our guest had so much fun dancing! Tim is so kind and flexible. The website is so organized and easy to use. I loved the do not play list! Tim was also easy to understand during each announcement and made sure to pronounce everything correctly! Serious such a wonderful DJ we could not have been happier.
There was a miscommunication with who we thought our DJ was going to be, but it all turned out great. Tim was fantastic with answering emails very quickly. Jimmy was our DJ awesome. He was super friendly and kept people on the dance floor. When my photographer and videographer were going to leave, he made sure to find me to let me know so we could fit in the parent dances and bouquet toss before they left. I would totally recommend Jimmy and Music in Motion!
Tim Hicks did a great job removing any burden from the bride and groom for timing and running the reception. He did a great job with music selection, reacting to the crowd, and working in requested songs. We cannot say enough great things about Tim Hicks, and would definitely recommend him 10/10 for your wedding!

I cannot thank Tim enough for the entertainment he provided on my wedding day. A month before the wedding day, our original DJ fell through and what I thought would be a nightmare in having to find a new DJ, ended up being such a blessing. Tim is extremely responsive, and Music In Motion's online planning tools are simple to use. Tim was so good about making sure things ran smoothly and we knew what to expect next. He had our dance floor full all night and had a great selection of music for dinner as well.
Since I first contacted him, Tim was super responsive and timely in all communication. He spoke with me for a solid 45 minutes and happily answered all of my questions during our initial phone call. Once we committed to Music in Motion, Tim checked in once a month to make sure things were going to plan and to see if he could answer questions for us. At the wedding, he showed up on time, played our top requested songs, and kept the party going all night. Several friends and family members told us how much fun they had, in large part due to our DJ! Tim was very professional, friendly, and funny throughout the whole night. He played a song specifically for my father-in-law (a huge Elvis fan) and a few more to keep the old people out there; the rest were almost all our style, so we stayed on the dance floor most of the night. Tim was super easy to work with, and I would 100% recommend him!

Music in Motion is the DJ you want on your wedding day, or any special event day! We worked with Tim Hicks and he really made our wedding day a celebration on June 1, 2018. One of the first vendors we booked for our August 2017 wedding was Music in Motion, and that was one of the best decisions we made! We had attended at least 5 weddings where Music in Motion was the wedding DJ, and we always had such a blast. It was a no brainer that we would book with them for our wedding!
Working with Tim Hicks throughout the whole process was easy and fun. He checked in numerous times and responded quickly and cheerfully with any questions I had along the way. Once the wedding came nearer, it was so simple to submit our must-play and play-if-possible lists.
Once the wedding day came, Tim was nothing short of amazing. He honored all of my requests, used my requests to choose other songs I absolutely loved (but hadn't listed), and kept the party going all night! He mixed up the music so guests of all ages enjoyed themselves, and I got a ton of compliments. He helped navigate minor issues that came up through dinner and helped calm all of our nerves.

Tim was amazing to work with through the planning process, he provided amazing online wedding planning forms to ensure that we had all of our must play songs, special event songs, and even a do not play list completed and filled out so we were able to have a fully custom DJ for our wedding on August 4th. We did have a few specific requests, like playing songs for each bridal party couple to enter into and it was no problem and Jimmy our DJ for the night executed everyt5hing flawlessly. We did not provide a huge song list for him to go off of, but Jimmy was fantastic on reading the crowd and what people were loving to dance to and played the perfect music all night long! We had our wedding and reception at twin lakes country club and Jimmy was able to have a small ceremony sound system set up for ceremony music, and have the main set up in the reception hooked up and ready to go for cocktail hour which immediately followed. Working with Tim & Jimmy was one of our best decisions of our wedding they are great, fun, and professional DJs that will ensure your guests are on the dance floor all night long, thank you Music in motion we will be recommending you to all of our friends and family!
Where to even begin?! Tim Hicks=one heck of a party! We were lucky enough to work with Tim for our special day and we could not be more pleased!! During the planning process, Tim was very organized and was available to answer any questions at any point in time! His professionalism is evident by the number of weddings he has DJed within my wedding attendance history! During our wedding, he played the music for our ceremony as well as the reception and everything was perfect!! Several guests raved of Tim's services and his ability to keep guests on the dance floor dancing! Tim Hicks is an AMAZING DJ! Seriously all I heard all night was how amazing he was, and we have quite the dancing family so it made for an awesome party! He was so good at giving us what we wanted as well as reading the crowd and playing things to keep the party going! He even went above and beyond and posted some pictures for us to enjoy right away! If music and dancing is an important part of your wedding to you, do yourself a favor and book Tim!

Tim was our Wedding DJ. He was very professional and easy to work with. Tim was on time, impeccably dressed, and, most importantly, he stuck to our playlist. The music wasn't too loud at dinner or for dancing. It's nice being able to still talk when a DJ is playing. Music in Motion is a little pricy, but you won't be disappointed.
