en you first contacted me about your experience, and I had hoped that my reply would have helped provide some context into what occurred. Unfortunately, I don't think I explained the challenges adequately and maybe even created some confusion especially if you felt dismissed. That was not my intention and I hope this response will help in some small way. It is always our goal to do the very best for anyone who books us. We know that you are trusting a portion of your day to our company and we do not take that responsibility lightly. I am sincerely sorry you felt that we let you down. I do remember your day quite clearly as it was one of the more stressful weddings I had. When we spoke, you had informed me that your event would be an outdoor wedding with a tent. We have done many outdoor tented events like this one. Most times, the tent company works to either provide or allow for ample power for entertainment, safety and security, and caterers. Unfortunately, this was not the case and it caused problems which ended up creating a ripple effect through the night. Whoever was responsible for providing power did not provide us with a dedicated circuit which is a requirement on our contract. In the first 10 mins of the cocktail hour my power cord became unplugged because a guest tripped over the cord that was run thru the area where the buffet was set up. I am sorry that you felt that I blamed your father. That is not the case. Your father came to me to see if he could help. I informed him of the power issues I was having and the gravity of the situation as he could see the stress on my face. He went to try and assist which I found generous of him considering he had other priorities. My associate and I were able to work to reroute power, and get back online. However, the power cords were on the ground and exposed, and within minutes someone had tripped over the cables causing another power outage. Again, normally when a professional tent company sets tents, they accommodate for power ensuring that cables are not running on the ground as it's a safety issue. This was not the case, and my focus was split between playing music, and trying to ensure that the power cords were covered as much as possible so that no one would accidentally unplug me or get hurt. I used my equipment to try and block off anyone else from tripping on cables and did the best I could to try and remedy further issues. These issues definitely impacted the rest of the evening. One of the items I use on each event is a power meter/protector. I was watching it throughout the evening as the power was not strong enough to send a consistent current and I was fearful of more outages occurring. If you thought I was dancing, it could very well have been because I was constantly looking back and forth at my power meter worrying that there could be another outage at any moment. I admit that, on this evening, I was as fidgety as I've ever been which may have looked like some type of dancing. As a rule, I am not the type of DJ who jams out and gets into the music. I am usually focused on crowd reaction and trying to determine what I'll play next. DJ-ing someone's wedding is not a time for me to relax, get into the tunes, and have a good time. It is a time for work, and it is something I take very seriously. I demand that those who work for me do not indulge in drinking any alcohol as this is not our time to celebrate with guests. It is a time to do what we can to help the guests enjoy themselves. In this case, I was trying to keep the night moving, not stress the equipment's power needs and put a greater strain on the power, and do everything I could to ensure that music was playing throughout. If I erred and played some of the songs on the do not play, it was because of the distraction. It was not deliberate. This was one of the most stressful and challenging weddings I have done in over 20+ years. My company has received many accolades over the years, and I take it to heart when someone is not satisfied. I do take responsibility for not taking the time to do a site visit prior to your reception to check on the power cables, tent setup, and ensure that there would not be complications. I made an assumption that yours would be like most outdoor weddings and that there would be no issues with a dedicated power source. Had I done a site visit, I may have been able to spot the issue prior and helped to create a better day for everyone. I apologize for the confusion, and am sorry that the reception did not go as you had hoped.
