Based out of Poughkeepsie, NY, Music On Move is a wedding DJ company. For more than 20 years, owner and entertainer Hobie Armstrong has helped couples celebrate their love story. He is happy to perform across the Hudson Valley, Westchester, in New York City, and across upstate New York. This professional can also travel further afield to couples in New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. Hobie first opened Music On Move in 1997 and has since performed for countless crowds. A graduate of Marist College and Up With People, his main goal is spreading joy. He loves being able to share his musical talents with to-be-weds on their big day, and sees it as a way to bring people together. You can meet with Hobie for an initial consultation to talk about your ideas for your wedding's music. This DJ is happy to perform at ceremonies and receptions, and can also act as MC to help direct the festivities. Some of the genres he likes to play include pop, rock, jazz, and disco. Music On Move provides its own sound and audiovisual equipment.

We originally found Music on the Move on WeddingWire as we were planning our wedding ourselves. We were really happy with Hobie as our DJ for our wedding. We worked with him by providing a playlist of music genres as inspiration while also giving him the creative flexibility to add in songs that would mix well with the selection. His prices were decent for what we needed! Thank you for being our DJ 😊

Music on Move has done two events for me, a fundraiser and my wedding! My experience was a 10/10. Hobie was very professional and accommodating. He was friendly and knew exactly what information to get from me when I was in ‘event planning’ mode. For the wedding he made sure it was seamless and he played the perfect songs. Everyone was happy. I look forward to working with them again!

My husband and I have very diverse tastes in music and we really wanted to find a DJ that could seamlessly meld together what we had in mind for our music selection because we had most it picked out. After our first meeting with Hobie we cancelled the rest of our DJ meetings because we knew he who we wanted at our reception. With his background in producing and radio he had a knowledge of music that really impressed us. He was awesome throughout the whole process and helped guide us through the areas we didn’t have any idea about, parent entrances, cake cutting, etc. He worked around our schedule when we needed to do a Zoom call or the like to work out details. When my husband couldn’t settle on a song for his Groomsmen to be introduced to, Hobie created a custom mix for the boys and it was amazing. The night of the reception Hobie was hands down the reason why people had so much fun, his energy and timing was perfect; he worked at the venue before so everything went seamlessly. We couldn’t have asked for a better DJ. I will say he is super chill and laid back but his passion for what he does comes all out when he’s in the booth. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone that asks and have already.

We had seen Music on the Move at several events prior to our wedding so when it came time to pick a DJ it was a no brainer. Music on the move is great at keeping the party going and the people on their feet. They are also extremely professional. I would happily recommend them to my friends and family!

They came to scout the location and go over logistics well in advance of our wedding. On the big day, Hobie arrived early to set up and even matched his setup to our decor! Hobie stayed an extra hour and the music was spot on. The crowd was mostly In their 30’s with some kids as well as parents/ grandparents. Hobie got everyone moving!
