From the first email exchange, the amount of info you provided up front, the way you laid out what was needed of us, all the check ins to day of - I felt so comfortable from start to finish and had no worries when it came to the music, intros, etc on the big day. Had multiple people comment on how good the selection was!! The energy was top notch and the equipment was A+. You were absolutely phenomenal and I can’t thank you enough for making our day so special!!!

We were at a wedding this past weekend at a golf course near the Hamptons. There were 340 guests, amenities out the wazoo, and a dozen coordinators, photographers, and various vendors running around with crazy headsets. All in all though, the production value left a lot to be desired. There was a microphone on a stand during the ceremony that nobody, including the bride and groom and various guest speakers, were close enough to to be sufficiently audible. During the reception, the groom's party exited and re-entered the room 3 times because the DJ couldn't get their entrance music to work. The crowd literally started cheering "no music!" and clapping for them to just come out. While it was a great time and a beautiful wedding, all the money in the world couldn't secure them the carefree and issue-free experience that we had with Mike. There was no distracting microphones, no problems with cues or queued music... everything just worked great and we didn't have to even think about it. So while we were both certainly satisfied with the service, this weekend solidified our belief that we made a great choice in hiring you. We're stoked and continue to be stoked with your performance. Our daughter & husband decided for the small mini-mony wedding (elopement style) in early July. It was a super small event with just immediate family. My husband and I wanted to throw them a reception style event, a 'Happily Ever After Party', a few weeks later. The whole event was planned in about 3-4 months. Mike was great from the moment we first contacted him & he kept the night fun & casual (which is what we wanted) for all our guests. Highly recommend Mike!

Mike was beyond incredible to work with. We booked him early as the music was a very important part of our day. From the first meeting where he explained his systems and plan we were over the moon. He was very thorough during our zoom calls and ensured that every detail and song we wanted to hear were included in our day. WOW!!! I will never stop talking about how amazing our wedding DJ, Mike, was!! His emails and texts always brightened my day and made me so so excited for our wedding day. For our ceremony, he worked closely with our officiant and venue staff to ensure a flawless flow of events and crystal sound and mic setup - watching a video of our ceremony, I can hear my vows so clearly and I wasn't even mic'ed up (my husband and officiant were) but everyone could hear me!! Mike was a fantastic DJ/entertainer who went above and beyond! From our initial zoom meetings/phone calls to the wedding day itself he was so attentive and helped to make our wedding even more personal. He was so friendly, went out of his way to come out and direct the bridal party prior to being introduced at the reception, comes dressed to the nines and adds a personal touch by adding our names in our wedding color to his DJ setup. He not only played a terrific playlist during each part of the wedding day but does the initial leg work behind the scenes to make our song choices work, even trimming our first dance and parent dances down from 4 minute songs to much more tolerable 2.5 minute songs flawlessly. All the communication with Mike from the start was great, he reached out at every point he said he would, he was on point with everything, he knew everything necessary about DJ’ing at Deerfield. The day of was fantastic for everything we got to see. The ceremony went perfectly and we haven't heard any complaints. We’ve only heard how much fun everyone had. We didn’t see Mike when we were leaving at the end of the night and we wanted to say thank you but wasn't sure if he already left or just went to start collecting equipment but our shuttle was waiting for us so we had to go. We would definitely recommend Mike and we’d pick him as our DJ again. Mike was OUTSTANDING! He put my and my wife's preferences for music and the experience at the forefront and ensured everything went well with the theme of our wedding based on what we wanted as far as music. Mike is the absolute BEST! During our wedding vendor search we got a few quotes from other DJs but what made Mike stand out was how knowledgeable and professional he was from the beginning. You can sense his passion for what he does just from reading all of the information on his website, but after our first zoom call with him it was apparent how much pride he takes in his work and how dedicated he is to making sure every event he DJs is successful. He immediately put our minds at ease that with his years of experience he was the guy we needed to hire to make sure our wedding would be a great party. Throughout the planning process leading up to the wedding he checked in periodically to see if we needed anything from him, regularly giving us reassurance that he was available for any wedding or reception questions. Communication was always quick and easy whether by email, text, or phone call. And when wedding day finally came around, Mike did an amazing job of setting the perfect romantic mood during our ceremony, livening things up a bit during cocktail hour, and then really getting the party going for us during the reception. From the minute dinner was over he had people out on the dance floor and his music choices kept our guests dancing all the way to the last song of the night. I don’t think he could’ve read our crowd more perfectly! We got so many compliments from guests afterwards about how much fun they had and how awesome the music was all night long. I don’t do many reviews, but I’m taking the time to leave a review for Mike for a couple of reasons. You know when you click on a website to find the information you’re looking only to be met with 10 pages of unnecessary information you have to navigate through just to find what you’re looking for? Mike’s website is so well done, I read every single part of it. His personality shines brightly through his words and you feel like you know him after you’ve read through his website. He gives you the information you’re looking for and delivers it with a sense of humor mixed with honesty which is captivating and leaves you feeling a little sad when you get to the end! I know, I know, that sounds bizarre. Read it, you’ll see what I mean and you’ll learn everything you need to know about choosing a dj! Unfortunately, Mike is booked the day of my wedding. However, he gave me the names of a few people he recommends. After reaching out to them only to find that they were booked as well, Mike was happy to give me more names. Too often these days people don’t bother to respond when they aren’t available for what you need. Not only did Mike respond, he offered his time, his knowledge and his kindness to try to help me find what I needed. That should undoubtedly be recognized! When someone goes above and beyond, gaining nothing from it, that act of kindness should be shared. I can’t review him as a dj, but I can review his character. We knew immediately after ending our first Zoom call with Mike that we wanted to hire him for our wedding. He was arguably the most prepared vendor / individual that we spoke with during the entire process. He is personable and informative, and opened our eyes so much to the vital role the DJ plays throughout the wedding night. We really want to stress how informative and professional he is. He provides fantastic videos and reading material, we were bragging about it to our friends about how prepared, knowledgable, and helpful our DJ was compared to other experiences we have heard about. He was familiar with our venue, and educated us on how his equipment was suited for the high ceiling of our venue. Speaking of his equipment, his set up is beautiful! No big bulky speakers, he has sleek modern speakers and a beautiful table that he programs with a beautiful monogram message. It really pops and adds to the elegance and classiness of the wedding night. The uplifting was such a worthwhile addition, it took the atmosphere to another level, and looked beautiful throughout the night (Go Birds!). Every conversation we had with him was awesome, we loved him as a person. He was also arguably the best vendor we had in terms of keeping in contact with us. When we needed him or had a question, he was always prompt in his responses and went above and beyond to assist us. He is full of great recommendations for other vendors, and obviously music as well. You may not realize how important having a great DJ is and he definitely showed up for the part! We have received so much positive feedback on how he played a fantastic mix of music, and knew how to get the crowd going. He was vital in coordinating the day of activities as well. He was on top of the timeline (from the ceremony through the end of the night), special announcement we requested, and interacted in such a positive way with the crowd and guests. Our family members loved him as well! Perhaps most important, Mike cares about his couples and makes sure that everything runs smoothly. He even reached out to our venue coordinator to assist with the day-of timeline. He went above and beyond for us, and was fully invested making our night as special as possible. What can I say about DJ Mike besides him being absolutely amazing at his job. He was the obvious choice for our wedding. He is extremely friendly and kind and knows exactly how to perfectly DJ a wedding. Mike was the DJ/MC for our large wedding recently. He was incredibly prepared, easy to work with, flexible, and did an outstanding job the day of! Mike checked off all our boxes for what we were looking for with a wedding DJ. He was so easy to talk too, very welcoming and always answered questions promptly! I found him in 2021 for my 2023 wedding and he would always check in with me to make sure I was doing okay with wedding planning and if I had any questions! Mike was on top of it from day one, knew exactly what he was doing, even gave us tips on other vendors we could utilize (Intrigue Photography) and ran us through step by step how typical marriage ceremonies/receptions go but let us customize it the entire way to be our perfect night! Professional, patient, excellent communication via email/phone/video call/whatever we needed and a wonderful sense of humor to boot! We never had a doubt in him which is super helpful when everything else is stressful to plan! When shopping around one thing I looked for was quality. Mike went above and beyond to not only send me a price, but to send me why he would be a wonderful fit to hire him as our dj. From our first meeting the the magical day of Mike Simmons of Must be the Dj was nothing but AMAZING!! The one thing people don’t tell you about planning a wedding, is how hard picking songs actually is! Mike was so patient and had list and suggestions for all of my lost ways. The most important part, that I will forever be thankful for was his push to use our song “Say you won’t let go.” As our wedding song. I always envisioned it as our song and down played myself thinking it wasn’t wedding appropriate. After talking to Mike, we picked it as our first dance and on our wedding day I was so glad we did. Start of our ceremony to the end of the night everything was absolutely perfect. From the time our dance floor opened until the last song of the night he had our dance floor packed. If you are looking for a Dj, this is 100% the one!

Mike *killed* it at our 8/26/23 wedding. Mike brought professionalism, great energy, and a lot of fun to the table. He regularly checked in before the big day which helped calm nerves. He also pulled together custom edits for the recessional and a few dances which was an awesome surprise. I was 100% over ambitious w my must play playlist (sent him over 7 hrs of beats 😁), but noticed during the night Mike working off that print out - he played a ton of songs I had wanted which was the icing on the cake. I really enjoyed working w him right off the bat - he's a stellar DJ and a great guy.

Mike is an INCREDIBLE wedding DJ. Brings tons of energy, super detailed, fun to be around, and took all of our requests into consideration. He even made a custom display in front of his stand for us. MIKE!!!! Oh my gosh... start to finish, absolutely love this dude. Aside from his DJ skills, he is just genuinely a solid, kind hearted, funny, and uplifting guy. He makes you laugh all night and knows how to push to get things done when you need him. When we first met Mike on a Zoom call, he immediately made us feel comfortable as a same sex couple. He immediately impressed us with his knowledge and his straight forward approach - it's all about good music and keeping people on the dancefloor. Immediately we knew he would be a great match for us both with his personality and his approach to a great party. We had our wedding on 6/3/23 and Mike came early, was set up perfectly, and his equipment is INCREDIBLE! He has a beautiful stand set up with a digitized screen where he makes beautiful designs of your names, both stationary and live. Mike was an incredible MC, and nailed every single name, even the challenging ones!! Despite our differences in gender, he flowed right with our terminology of "bridesmaids and bridesmen", rolled perfectly with our divorced parents and their titles, and helped us coordinate our timing to get people on the dance floor seemlessly! He played all of our requests, even when we got started way late on the reception. He made sure our ceremony sounds were beautiful and we loved his portable microphones clipped to the officiant to avoid the clunky microphone stand! Also, the uplighting he did was beautiful and TOTALLY worth it. I can't imagine having any other person there for us that night. We received so many compliments on the music. The biggest difference maker? We had people from ages 13 to 85, and every single person danced to his music. He picked perfect songs/genres to appeal to everyone and keep everyone involved. I have never seen my 85 year old grandfather dance, and that was all thanks to Mike! If you don't book Mike, I promise you will regret it. I have been to so many weddings where the DJ ruins the night. We had people packing the dance floor through the ENTIRE reception! Don't wait.... book him NOW NOW NOW!!!!!!

He even helped with areas that were not exactly his area (photography, details, etc.). I relied heavily on his opinions since he has been doing this for a very long time. Mike made sure to play various types of music and made sure that everyone was up on their feet, having a good time. Mike also has a wonderful DJ display that is very clean, elegant, and is beautiful for photos! Can't forget his awesome uplighting as well! Mike made sure to set the lighting based on the mood of the room, which did not go unnoticed by guests. Aside from his wonderful DJing skills, I would consider Mike to be a friend! He made sure to build a personal connection with my husband and I. He checked in on us through the whole process and AFTER our wedding was over. Mike was one of the vendors who felt most on top of things when it came to the wedding planning. Very communicative and made sure he understood the ceremony/reception structure and what songs we wanted where. During the reception, there was a point in the night where I was worried we were going to have a barren dance floor for the rest of the night, but Mike turned things around and had people on the dance floor all night long. and the uplighting was amazing! Very subtle for dinner, but went wild during the dancing. An absolute recommend from me!

Mike did an absolutely incredible job with our wedding! He has such great energy that it will bring any wedding to life. When selecting a DJ numerous things stood out that made us choose MustBetheMusicDJs. First being the level of reassurance that Mike provided to us with the multiple microphones and backup microphones that were utilized during our ceremony leaving no room for error. Mike is the best DJ I could have ever asked for! He is so detailed oriented and truly cared about making my wedding day music as stress-free as possible. ike is the best! From the day we met him to the day of our wedding he was basically a second event coordinator for us. He was always checking in and making sure planning was going smoothly. The month leading into our wedding he was on the ball and had us fill out a planning sheet for all of our music which was just so helpful 1. to see what things we needed songs for and 2. to keep me organized. The event itself was amazing. Played all the songs we asked him too and did a good job filtering in the classic hits/ other songs of the genres we liked. LOVE mike and would 10/10 recommend.

We had our wedding at Deerfield in Newark, DE, and met Mike at an open house there over a year prior to our wedding. After hearing from 2 different vendors that we had to check out the DJ in the corner, we decided to see what the hype was all about. Instantly, we knew Mike was going to be our DJ. As we stood there, he answered all of our questions about music that we had written down. Then then continued to answer questions we didn't even know we should have asked! Throughout the entire planning process (a year and a half for us), Mike reached out to us several times to check in and see if there was anything he could help with. When it came to the final plans, Mike was extremely thorough and ensured we had the exact music we wanted, even down to a shortened version of our first dance (we didn't want to be on the dance floor for any longer than we had to). He had fantastic suggestions for songs my husband and I couldn't agree on, and provided us expert advice on our venue and the layout of the day's events. The entire night he had people up on the dance floor, and ended our night with our favorite song. All of our expectations were surpassed and we couldn't have asked for a more amazing time thanks to him!
