Mythical Exposures Photography

. The girl behind Mythical Exposures is not a reliable photographer and might even be a scam. She cancelled the Wednesday before our Sunday wedding and, while I believe she is dealing with unfortunate circumstances, the things going on in her life prevent her from being trustworthy and reliable as your photographer for an important day. I should note that when I booked, she guaranteed a backup photographer in case she couldn't shoot our day for any reason, but when I reached out to that backup photographer after her cancellation it turned out that they had only worked with her twice before and were already booked for our wedding date, meaning she wouldn't have been available anyway, regardless of the signed contract. When I was able to find a new photographer, my new photographer informed me that she had heard a lot of sketchy things about Mythical Exposures that should not be expected from a professional wedding photographer, like giving deep discounts (up to 25% off total fees) for paying entirely up-front vs a deposit, pricing being all across the board from client to client seemingly with no set pricing, pricing that seems too low to support a legally run and licensed business, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, that Mythical Exposures cyclically would cancel last minute on all of her clients and then change her business name and do it all again (she has apparently done this at least a couple times over the last few years and had just changed her name before cancelling on us). Finally, if she wasn't a scam, then the way she went about being a wedding photographer wasn't very good anyway. She forgot to reach out for our 30-day check-in and when I asked her about what she needed from me 18 days out she lied and said the email must have gone to my spam account (I check it regularly and all of her other emails went directly to my account). She did not need or want a shot list for the day, which is a Red Flag. And the experience I had working with her to get engagement photos done was very, very odd; she had contracted another photographer to take the photos because we lived in a different state and I somehow ended up in between her and the contracted photographer because the contracted photographer claimed she was being harassed and that Mythical Exposures couldn't seem to figure out the basics of downloading the gallery she had sent to her. A very, very long review, but I hope this will help someone in the future.
