When she broke the news, she told me that she’d gone ahead and transferred my contract to her business partner, without first asking me whether I wanted her to do that. In hindsight, I should have tried to find a new MUA on my own. But I was so busy finalizing wedding details that I just asked her to confirm that her colleague would also be providing the same services (airbrush makeup and lashes) at the same price point. And when she said yes, I told her I'd move forward with him. Turns out, the new MUA actually *didn't* do airbrush, and he didn't bring enough lashes to let me or my bridal party pick the ones we wanted (so when I told him I didn’t love the super dramatic set he chose for me, my only other option was one type of individual lashes, and I think he may have initially planned to give those to my mom, because she didn’t end up getting any). I can’t exactly fault him for all of that, because he didn’t personally promise me that he’d provide the same services. But Kate told me that she'd spoken to him for 45 minutes, and gave me the impression that he’d be doing everything she would have done. The new MUA wasn’t untalented. But he pretty much ignored both our inspo pics and our requests (he wouldn’t let one of the bridesmaids wear red lipstick, even after I told him I genuinely wanted her to be able to wear whatever color she felt best in, and he shot down my request for winged eyeliner, even though it’s my go-to look). He also didn’t leave us with any makeup for touch-ups, which was a bummer because my lipstick faded before the ceremony even started. And I felt a little sad when I caught a glimpse of my reflection shortly before walking down the aisle and realized that I didn’t feel like the best version of myself. My wedding was still wonderful overall, but getting my makeup done was unquestionably the low point of the day. Maybe I would have felt differently if Kate hadn’t given my contract to a stylist who didn’t seem to have a ton of experience working with bridal parties. But, as it was, I really wished I’d saved myself some money and done my own makeup.

Kate is such an expert, she knows exactly what she's doing and is extremely conscious of proper sanitation and safety, and I felt 100% comfortable in her hands.

ent photo shoot on time! I couldn’t be happier with the way my make-up came out based on the request I gave her. I don’t typically wear much make up and was looking for a more natural look, and she had great suggestions to help fit my needs. She’s also super easy going and fun to talk to during the session.
