Nagel Portraits

dedicated to their work. Mark captured our engagement session. From the start, he made us feel very comfortable and we got along so well. He is creative, truly an artist, and the session felt very natural. Katherine joined him for the wedding, and she brought a lot of energy and excitement that shines through in all of our photos. Honestly, we didn’t even feel like we were being photographed all day. They fit right in! We definitely recommend Nagel Portraits if you are looking for down-to-earth photographers who stay true to the authenticity of your wedding day. Their photographs are timeless and will be cherished for our entire lives!

to hire Mark and Katherine. As others have noted, they have such an eye for detail, composition and catching juuuust the right moments - their style and timeless approach to editing (neither dark and moody nor too airy and light; a bit more 'editorial') make for stunning, classic images that we immediately were drawn to in their portfolio. We've had the pleasure of shooting our engagement photos with Mark so far, and are overjoyed with how the images turn out. The session itself was a great time. He recommended locations based on the inputs we gave in his pre-session survey (that includes tons of advice on how to prep, too), and did all he could to make us comfortable, guide us to pose given this is our first time ;), and was dedicated to getting the shot, even if it meant climbing in a tree. So far, they've been a joy to work with, and we can't wait to have them capture our wedding day out of state next November.

excited energy was the right kind to have around us on such a great day. Not only are his photographs clearly incredible, but he TRULY captures the authentic moments. He was truly a joy to work with, making everyone feel at easy and brought out our true emotions so easily. Looking back, I honestly had no idea that he was there to capture some of the amazing moments he did. He is so creative, trust him! He is more than worth every single penny. Don’t doubt it – this is easily one of the best decisions we made. We are so thankful that Mark Nagel and his team were there to capture these special moments and we are so excited to look back on our photos and video for many years to come.

iple attempts or vague responses about people quitting and family issues but no action on delivery of products. Its a shame they were great at the wedding and yet there is no follow through and no apparent intention of fulfilling the contract.

listened to our requests and suggested some awesome ideas of their own. We ended up adding videography a few months before our date and it was absolutely no issue at all. Our wedding day was pretty warm, but they had no problem trekking around KC in the heat and were still a blast to work with. They even set up a little preview slideshow during the reception with some of the pictures from earlier in the day. The ONLY thing I can complain about is that they sometimes are a bit slow to respond to emails, but our wedding was mid-busy season so I can't hold that against them! I would highly recommend them to anyone!

important to each of us and deciding to book with Mark + Katherine was on of the best decisions we made. The engagement session was a lot of fun and the wedding day was an absolute blast. Mark + Katherine did a phenomenal job capturing our special day and the guests and bridal party were also very impressed with the two of them. I would most definitely recommend Nagel Portraits to capture your special day.

f just inquiring about his photography services and going over packages with me to the part where he drove me around KC trying to help find the car keys we lost during our engagement photo session. We had fun during our session, our pictures ALL look amazing and it’s only made me that much more excited to have him capturing our wedding day!

ng pictures and not silly poses like I've seen a lot of wedding photographers take. The photos turned out great and we can't wait to get some printed and albums made! We got married in the fall and I loved how their photos captured the mood and lighting of the day. Their editing and lighting made the photos have a lot of depth instead of the washed out super light editing I've seen in a lot of other wedding photography. I felt like they listened to what I wanted and did an awesome job capturing my vision. The wedding photography was one of the most important things for me since it is the one thing you can really take with you after the day is over, and Mark and Katherine did not disappoint! Also they are the cutest couple ever and such nice people -- definitely recommend.

thrilled with how everything turned out. Mark and Katherine make a killer team and their work is truly magnificent! They capture the true beauty of every moment and love their work outside of our own photos. Highly highly recommend them!!

d every moment. They were not intrusive at all but made sure all the perfect moments were taken. They were great at wrangling in our bridal party. How they worked with lighting and nature was awesome. They listened to what we wanted and captured it all. I couldn't decide on one location and completely trusted them to pick. The hardest part now is trying to select the photos for our wedding album-they are all so great! I highly recommend them!

my husband and I. His assistant was wonderful to work with and she was a huge help on our big day. Mark is a true artist, but with that being said, we really struggled with communication throughout the entire process. Contacting Mark to answer emails and/or return phone calls was like pulling teeth. I do not normally write reviews – good or bad, but we felt as though we had to say something. We are currently still waiting on our wedding book 7 months since our wedding. When Mark finally returned our emails, he offered to give us a free upgrade to the next tier of wedding books. This was a nice gesture; however that was a month ago and we are still waiting. His lack of communication is a major reason we would not use him again. Please consider my review when booking a photographer as there are many out there that might have superior organization and customer service skills. Weddings are stressful and being unable to reach your photographer within a reasonable time frame definitely added some unnecessary anxiety to our experience.

appy with how they turned out!

an eye for catching the perfect moments. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!

dding photos were perfect in every way. They do such great work I would highly recommend.

forced. He is so personable and is flexible to your style and suggestions. During the wedding I dedicated a song to my father who could not dance because he was in a wheelchair. Mark suggested that they play a video slideshow of the photos they took earlier in the day (us getting ready, first look, wedding etc..) and play the song over it. It was perfect and not a dry eye in the venue. Such a small piece of the day that made such a big impact. I cannot wait to see what my other photos look like. As a bigger testimonial I had 2-3 guests email or call him after the wedding to get more information to use him for their own weddings/engagements.

nd Mark!

urban space and we wanted a photographer who would capture all of the special moments, as well as the beauty and details of the venue. At our pre-planning meeting, we gave him free artistic range to capture our Big Day. Mark and his crew were a delight to work with and put us at ease on our wedding day. He has a great eye and we couldn't have been happier with the quality of the photos. We've also received tons of wonderful compliments on the photos from family and friends. He is truly an artist.

ake us do silly poses; he let us be us. He listened to what we were looking for and captured truly amazing photos that we will have forever. He did our engagement photos, thus led to our wedding photos; and my father is ready to hire him for my little sisters wedding! Maybe one day he will be doing our baby bump photos (one day). I highly recommend Mark- he is the BEST!

plus some nice surprises, as well.

made us feel so comfortable and natural. We knew we had to also book him for the wedding when he showed us some of the pics from his camera (unedited) and they were absolutely beautiful!! Mark and Katherine came back to San Diego for the wedding and needless to say the pictures turned our beautiful. Thanks Mark for capturing our beautiful wedding memories!!

more artistic shots with unique use of depth/focus etc. I didn't want the typical cookie-cutter wedding photos that were popular in the 80's and 90's where everyone lines up and poses. Mark has incredible vision and is able to pick out perfect shots. He captured so many special moments from our ceremony....to this day when I look at them they help resurrect the emotions that I was feeling at that moment. Our shots after the ceremony are spectacular! I've received so many compliments over the years and our wedding was even featured on Style Me Pretty, due largely in part to Mark's images. He is reasonably priced but not because he is not high caliber! We got incredible professional photos for a price that couldn't be beat!
