Purchased a dress. The dress was not a professional quality dress. It was an unfinished homemade sewing project that needed a lot of work. When I told them I wanted to send it back it took them a long time to reply to my email. Then they wanted a ton of pictures of the dress and videos. I sent them in and apparently I got a single stray hair on the dress that I didn't notice. They then sent me an email asking about it. The customer service slow at best. Still haven't been able to return the dress yet. No shade to the seller just the website's customer service. Find a website where you can talk to the seller directly.
Many reviews talk about delayed time and dresses showing up late. Much of this has to do with the owner of the dress, not just Nearly Newlywed. I found my dress being sold by a woman with very similar measurements. Nearly Newlywed went through so many checks to make sure the dress was arriving as perfect as any bride would want. There is also an period after receiving the dress to inspect and find any issues and they’ll settle the problems. I had quick email responses and they were very helpful when I had questions. This website significantly helped me to find my dress and stay in budget.
Don't waste your time and money. I posted my dress for sale 3 years ago and it is still unsold. They do nothing to help get your dress sold.
Dress arrived weeks late, after I'd been assured it could be rushed to me and paid extra for fast shipping. I did have it on time in the end, but it was a really stressful experience. Then I received a customs bill of almost 20% for importing it from Canada. NN just stopped responding to my emails when I asked them to help investigate why the bill was so unexpectedly high. Do not recommend.
If you decide to buy a dress from here, understand that you are completely at the whims of the seller. I bought a dress and Nearly NewlyWed allowed the seller to back out of the sale and wasted three weeks of my time waiting for the dress. I am completely devastated since my heart was set on this dress and I've been unable to find it anywhere else. Constructive criticism, if a seller cannot ship and provide tracking confirmation within 3-5 business days of the sale they need to let it go and let the buyer know. I waited three weeks and lost that time to look for a dress as well since I put all my trust into their "service". I feel emotionally scammed by both them and the seller.
I wasn’t aware of the 60/40 percent as well. Communication is not professional. Do yourself a favor and don’t sell your precious dress on this site.
Seller is responsible for all shipping costs too and is not reimbursed for any shipping costs.
I highly recommend Nearly Newlywed for selling a dress.
Posting the dress for sale was easy. They guided me through appropriate asking price and gave me pointers for pictures to provide.
When my dress sold, communication was all via email with a single person. Shipping was simple as well.
Overall, it was a smooth, painless experience.
I love the idea of second hand wedding dresses, both for the wallet and the environment. I bought and sold my dress on NearlyNewlywed and so got to have the perfect dress for about 1/4 of the original price once it resold. The peace of mind you get from the return policy as a buyer really takes the stress out of getting a pre-loved dress. They have a great selection as well. Highly recommend!
A wedding dress is very personal and therefore difficult to resell. I had my dress listed for the site for about two years and it finally sold! It's not a huge amount of money relative to the original cost of the dress, but it did allow me to recoup some cash to give back to my parents, who bought it for me to help with wedding expenses. I'm also happy that someone was able to re-use it, since it was otherwise just going to sit in my closet taking up space forever. Patti was very responsive throughout the process.
Seller, be aware. You will sell your dress for nothing. They keep 40% of the cost and you are also responsible for shipping of your dress (up to $150)
They don’t have a phone number , only emails. Communication is unprofessional and rushed. A lot of miscommunication.
Safe your dress and money and stay away.
If you are selling your dress - they really don’t care about you and please read this before deciding to do so.
They just need to sell your dress as cheap as possible, leaving you with literally nothing.
I had the worst experience selling my dress with this company. I was staying in contact with Patti. Her emails looked like she is always in a rush and all she wanted to is for me to ship my dress to them asap. On the website it says: free shipping. However, not for people who sell the dress. You are going to be responsible for sending the dress (up to $150 in shipping cost). With that said, you also going to get ONLY 60% of the price of your dress. So they are making so much money only by stealing from brides who are selling the dresses.
It was such a heartbreaking experience since I didn’t know the policy (60%/40%). I literally had a breakdown and begged Patti to return my dress because I would never sell it for 20% of the price I paid.
But Patti didn’t care. She sent me her short email “sorry,no”
No empathy, nothing.
With that said, think twice before selling your dress there.
I had an absolute dream dress, an absolute treasure. I paid a lot of money for it plus customization and alterations on top of the price. It was a huge decision to sell it and I am absolutely crushed and heartbroken that I sold it with this company for literally nothing. I wish I can take it all back.
Never in a million years would I think I would buy my wedding gown on line but I'm so glad I did. I wanted something cheaper since I was getting married on a beach and I ended up getting a designer dress with a belt and veil for half the price of the one I liked in the stores. It arrived quickly and fit perfectly. I loved the handwritten card inside as well. Highly recommend!!
I used Nearly Newlywed to sell my wedding dress. It took a while to sell, but Nearly Newlywed handled everything - from the contact with the buyer, to the shipping, and to ensuring I got paid. They were very communicative with me throughout the process and I would definitely recommend them to others looking for an easy, stress-free way to sell their dress.
Hats off to Patti....Like every Bride i wanted my dream dress and had my eyes set on the most beautiful and sexy Mori Lee Dress.I am from Trinidad and purchasing a designer dress here was very costly for me,so finding Neary Newlywed was like winning the lottery.I was able to find my dream dress at an affordable price,as well as it being brand new with great, advisable and co-operative service from Patti to have my dress shipped to my cousin's in the US who then brought it to me.Nearly Newlywed offered a very hassle free process, awesome and efficient service, timely response and follow up on receiving my dress.I highly recommend Nearly Nwelywed!
I bought my dress off this site. It was a very easy process. I bought three, kept one, and returned the other two no problem. They all were just as described. The dress I ended up with was beautiful, just what I wanted, and cheaper than a comparable dress would have been new. The alterations, specifically the straps, were a bit tricky since the dress had already been altered once. If you pick one that needs a bit of work, I just recommend taking it to an alterations person to make sure it can be done before you commit.
Easy and fast! I sold my wedding dress in just two weeks!!!!!!! Efficient and friendly customer service! 100000% recommend
I ordered my weddingdress from nearly newlywed and I'm verry happy with it. It look s just like in the picture. Thank you verry much.
I orderd it to Swizerland and it was no problem at all with shipping and taxes, the dress arrived in time and didnt even show wrinkles...
For me, Nearly Newlywed largely did what it said it would, so I'm happy with them as a vendor. That said, there's room for improvement... though I doubt they have much incentive. The nitty gritty: it took about a year for my dress to sell. The final listing price was 42% of what I paid for my dress, but after the listing fee and shipping the dress to NN, I netted about 22% of what I originally paid. If I count dry cleaning, I got about 16% back.
I listed my dress in Feb '18 for about 50% of what I paid. After no movement, I reached out to NN in June to see if they had any info on how to optimize the listing. Patti responded with suggestions to lower the price (to 58% off), change the order of the pictures, and she repinned it to Pinterest. I agreed to all of the above. (NN: giving sellers access to traffic & interaction data could help us sell our dresses faster).
Then I heard nothing again until early Feb of this year, when Patti reached out to say the dress sold and asked me to ship it to them for verification. The buyer ended up deciding to keep it, so Patti sent me a check promptly, and I deposited it this week. (NN: your website says you use PayPal for this)
At the end of the day, I was happy to sell the dress and get some money for it, but the amount of money isn't very compelling. Mainly, I'm glad the dress isn't taking up half of our hall closet anymore. I loved it, and I'm happy someone else will get to wear it.
I sold my dress through this site and payment should have gone out the first week of January. Patti, who contacted me, wrote to say she mailed a check rather than sending payment via PayPal as advertised on the site. Despite repeated communications, I am still waiting for payment as of 2/14/19. Patti has claimed that checks take six weeks to arrive, there is no tracking number she can provide and has been unresponsive to my request that she send payment electronically instead. When I emailed customer service using the contact address on the website, the same person, Patti, responded and she has refused to put me in touch with any other employee at the company. Other dress sites offer 100% of the proceeds from a sale and only charge a nominal listing fee. Nearly Newlywed takes 40% of the profits and justifies this by claiming they have a hassle free process. Instead, I had to pay $40 to ship my dress to Patti and I am still waiting more than 6 weeks later for payment. I do not recommend using this service.
I found an amazing designer dress for so much cheaper than I was seeing on other secondhand bridal outlets. I was even offered a discount for not selecting the return option and the dress came just as it was described and it was perfect. No alterations even needed--I felt like crying I was so happy. Patti was so helpful and very communicative even when UPS was missing delivery times for me and she helped me coordinate for pickup of the dress. I felt very calm knowing that the dress had been authenticated beforehand so all I had to do was wait for it to ship from their facility, after the seller shipped it, which did not take very long. I highly recommend this site.
Awesome service! I would highly recommend this website the selling your dress. The selling process is hassle free and the website is easy to navigate.
The website is really easy to use, I got my dress quickly, and they are great at following up!
Awesome service and amazing experience. The dress was even more gorgeous in person. Really personalized service and I was blown away by how much follow up I had after purchasing the dress to ensure that I was 100% happy with it. Would definitely recommend this website and will be re-selling my dress with them :)
Great experience! I would highly recommend using this site. I was a little nervous at first about ordering a dress over the internet, but this allowed me to get my perfect dress for a great price (and way less risk since it's returnable)! Patti is awesome, and responds quickly to emails if you have any questions or concerns. The dress arrived in perfect condition, and I got text alerts to to track the package. Try it out!
I sold a wedding dress on the site and it was a very simple process. I appreciated the communication I received throughout the processes as well as how friendly the emails where. I felt that my dress was valued and cared for as well as being able to celebrate a new bride purchasing it. Overal would recomend. Only negative is that it is taking some time to get paid but that's it.
I had a wonderful experience with Nearly Newlywed. I just happened to find the dress I had been in love with, in my size, for an incredible price! The dress was in excellent condition. I could not be more pleased!!
I had a great experience with Nearly Newlywed. Happened to find the dress I had been drooling over for half the cost it is on the designer website. The dress was shipped to me within the time frame promised. I took away one star since there was one small part of the dress I'll have to have fixed - but overall not a big deal. Smart concept and saved me a lot of money!
I had a great experience selling my dress! I posted it at 50% of the retail value and it sold within 3 weeks of posting. The staff was easy to correspond with and the check is in the mail. I feel happy that someone else get's to enjoy! I would recommend.
After having a seamstress destroy my dress just 3 months before my wedding, I tried local bridal shops who couldn't guarantee the arrival of a replacement, even with rush shipping. With dwindling options, I found a dress on NearlyNewlywed.com and knowing I had such a limited amount of time, I ordered immediately. I felt confident ordering from NearlyNewlywed because they have a 2-3 week shipping time frame, free returns, and sellers must ship the dress to them for authentication before the dress is sent to the buyer. After waiting for 3 weeks with no communication or tracking information, I emailed asking for an update since buyers can not communicate directly with sellers at any time. At this time I found out the dress had never been shipped by the seller and in the websites response, I received "I am sorry she did not answer...Usually they do not put us in this situation". This website shifted all blame to the seller, failed notify me that the dress did not ship, and delivery was going to be delayed. Now, with 60 days until my wedding I'm left scrambling. Had this dress arrived on time, I would have had time for alterations. Due to the lack of communication and professionalism, I do not recommend NearlyNewlywed.
I am very pleased with my experience selling my wedding dress with Nearly Newlywed. The listing process is simple and they took care of the shipping back and forth each time a buyer wanted to try on the dress. Highly recommend.
While I initially had a good experience purchasing a dress on this site, I dry cleaned the dress according to the tags and picked it up a week before my wedding to find out it had turned yellow :( It seems like the previous owner had dry cleaned it the wrong way and so after I used petroleum cleaning, as the label specified, it ruined the dress. Needless to say, I had to purchase something else with rush shipping a week before the wedding and it would’ve been the same cost with less headache to just buy a new dress in the first place. My advice to buyers is to be wary and make sure the dress was dry cleaned prior to being sold. Then don’t do anything major to it before your wedding, just in case this could happen to you!
If you’re looking for a pre-owned wedding dress, there is absolutely NO other place more reassuring than Nearly Newlyweds. Patti provided amazing support to me while I insanely ordered and returned multiple dresses! I felt like she had all the reasons to want to strangle me. I would have strangled me! But Patti was encouraging and helpful with my search for the right (affordable designer!) dress to the end!! And now, I have the perfect dress for my special day. I absolutely intend on reselling it back through this website. Loved the whole process from start to end! Very grateful I stumbled upon this website and for Patti! Thank youuuuu.
Great experience! I didn't have any problems at all in entering my dress info and saving it. It took some time for an interested buyer to pick my unique dress but Nearly Newlywed were excellent at customer service and communicating the sale to both me and the buyer. I am so happy the dress sold at a great price.
After reading a recommendation for Nearly Newlywed on The Knot website, I signed up and posted a listing to sell my wedding dress. I have been very disappointed, and would not recommend using this site. The concept is great, and the look of the website is great, but they have major website technical problems, and they have not responded to my requests to address the issues. I've e-mailed and submitted requests via their online form, and have heard nothing back. I can't find a phone number to call. The issues: 1) When I try to edit my listing, it says it has been saved, but when I check only a few things have been saved. 2) No matter how many times I try, it won't save when I try to add new photos (I've followed all the guidelines and instructions), 3) They haven't added the designer of my dress to their list of designers. The designer is a fancy Spanish designer sold at Nordstrom.
