Directly from New Kent Winery. " What a bunch of old bitter white women who are clueless morons.Go home and whine. Leave the country and live in some third world country. You will ...
not survive a week." Posted on Facebook and style magazine. Please research these bigots and prejudice people that run the winery. They should be boycotted. Shame on them.
We were so excited to have our wedding at the Vineyard Estate. We loved our wedding coordinator, Jackie, and were impressed by her. The venue itself was stunning and exactly what w...
e wanted. I usually don't leave reviews, but want to warn other brides. Be wary of the owners of the venue, JoAnna and her husband. Others have noted that as well. They run a shady business and I was surprised by them (negatively) again and again. First, they told us that we could have up to 180 guests. Our coordinator said that was the max, and it was listed in their wedding information packet and online. We sent out invitations and about 4 months before our wedding, the owner said she was "shocked" we would have 180 guests, because she said the maximum allowed was 150 guests. She said she would have to "think about how to make it work." Our coordinator assured us there were other weddings that had 180 guests and was unsure why the owner was surprised. Additionally, they rent an air b&b on site. The rate per night was $750 a night, and we were going to stay there the night before the wedding. We communicated this 6 months before the wedding and were told that the contract would be forthcoming. Throughout that time, I sent 3 emails asking for the specifics about the airb&b and the contract. Then, THREE weeks before our wedding, two days after she said she was going to send the contract that day, she said we needed to pay an extra $750 to rent the airb&b. She said it was a "new policy as of today." If we wanted to stay there, we needed to pay double what she originally quoted us on. Our wedding coordinator said in writing as well she thought it was unfair to change on us that short of notice and would try to talk to them. We ended up staying somewhere else.
Then, lastly, one of their associates assured my bridesmaids all the decorations and things were packed up and there was nothing they needed to do. Then, I received an email the next day stating that the flowers and food was left behind and they were "displaying your flowers at New Kent Winery" and threw away the extra food. She even apologized to me and a bridesmaid, saying she wasn't sure what happened. However, $200 was taken from our security deposit due to "cleaning fees of food and flowers." (even though they used our flowers for their benefit).
If you want a trustworthy venue, I would not get married here. There are other venues that would give you less stress!
If I could leave 0-star review... I would. Rude. Inconsiderate. Unethical. Brash. Those are the words I would use to describe the owner, Joanne.
The venue and property is picture ...
perfect but do not be blinded by the stunning venue, like I was... one of the owners (specifically, Joanne) is brash, harsh, and talks negatively about anything you have already planned for your wedding. At my 6-week appointment, every detail I had already planned for my wedding, she told me was "wrong". Both wedding coordinators that were employed (no longer employed by the venue) were fantastic and I remain friends with both of them on social media and talk to them on a regular basis. Specifically, Sara. Sara was a dream to work with and Sara is the reason my wedding dreams came true for the day of.
I was not informed by the venue when my rehearsal time had changed from the late afternoon to morning until the 6-week vendor walk through appointment, after we spent 2 hours talking through what the Thursday-Saturday timeline would look like... never mentioning the Friday wedding they had scheduled.
I could have looked past those behaviors considering Sara ensured my wedding day went off without a hitch. However, the most recent interactions with Joanne have completely left a sour taste in my mouth. I will never recommend them because of the following incident.
Our contract states that the venue has 14-business days to return our damages and cleaning deposit. I had heard from Sara before her employment at the Vineyard Estates concluded that we had no damages and no cleaning fees and should expect the full refund within 1-2 weeks. We never received it. Email after email after email and several phone calls not returned to us, we finally received a deposit back 32 days after the wedding... with no explanation as to why the deposit was withheld from us. The owner deducted a cleaning fee for a "bathroom incident" that we were not made aware of the night of the wedding. When asked why we weren't made aware of this, Joanne said she didn't want to "ruin our night". When asked how we would know that this actually happened at our wedding and not a different one, her response was "because I said it happened at yours, that's how.". Come to find out from the coordinator that the "bathroom incident" we were charged for happened at the wedding the night before ours. There is simply no reasoning with this woman. She should absolutely NEVER work with customers, brides, and their families and should be completely hands off with the weddings they host.
It is truly a shame that one of the pretties venues in Virginia is ruined by the horrible attitude and unethical business behavior by the owner, Joanne.
All of the excellent reviews that speak of wonderful owners must have only worked with Joe. Having worked with both of them for two separate events, he is level-headed, kind, willing to work with you, and just a nice person.
The New Kent Winery staff did an exceptional job of making our wedding day stress free and all that we imagined. Amanda Range scheduled meetings leading up to the big day to make ...
sure all was on track and we did not forget anything. The flow of the evening went perfectly. The staff made sure dinner was served, first dances were had, etc. at the scheduled time, so we could make the most of our day. I would highly recommend the venue to any bride seeking a quaint and romantic setting to tie the knot. The timeless barns and beautiful open land are a hard setting to beat!

pleasure working with the owners and staff ... they are gracious, go the extra mile, and nothing but professional. You will not be disappointed!

tober 18, 2020. We were originally scheduled for April 18th, 2020. Due to Covid-19, we had to postpone our wedding. Since we were right at the start when things his and among the first weddings to be affected by this, we were nervous & anxious, really not knowing what to do. Leah & JoAnna worked diligently with me to come up with the plan that was the best for us & what we wanted. It was definitely worth the wait.. Our day in October was absolutely perfect. It was everything we hoped & dreamed it would be. Amanda was our day of coordinator & was absolutely incredible for our rehearsal & wedding day! We met Amanda when we came to tour the venue, & she will always hold a special place in our hearts! She is so kind & attentive! Leah was also phenomenal! We worked with Leah while Amanda was out on maternity leave & she was sweet & super responsive. Walking up to the venue on our wedding day, my eyes filled up with tears at how elated I was. The venue looked exactly the way I envisioned it for so long. Everything was exactly in the spots I wanted them. We were overjoyed with how well everything turned out. We spent the night at the bed & breakfast on the property our wedding night. Joe & JoAnna were absolutely incredible & made us feel so welcome. We were treated with a cheese tray & wine in our room- which was perfect following our wedding. They had all the amenities & we were just so happy to be there. We received breakfast the next morning, which JoAnna graciously helped us decide on before our stay. Wow- was the food good! We stayed a bit that morning and talked to both Joe & JoAnna about how wonderful our day was & life in general. They really made us feel welcome in there home, and we couldn't have asked for better. Overall, we had the most perfect wedding and it was all because of The Vineyard Estate, Amanda, Leah, JoAnna, Joe & the rest of our our vendors! We cannot thank you enough for all the work each of you put in to make our day so special. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We look forwards to many more date nights, and anniversaries at the winery! We absolute love The Vineyard Estate & NKW and cannot recommend them enough!!!!

As a fellow wedding vendor, we loved working with Vineyard Estate at New Kent Winery on two weddings in 2020 and one in 2019. Leah & Amanda kept us in the know throughout the weddi...
ng day and gave us the flexibility we needed to capture all the images that were important to our couples while still keeping us on track. Brides: having a wedding vendor team that works well together is so important to having your wedding day run smoothly. We always love working with the ladies at Vineyard Estate at NK Winery and hope to work with them again in 2021!
We were so glad we picked the Vineyard Estate as our wedding venue - not only is it gorgeous, but the coordinators made everything stress-free and easygoing on the day of our weddi...
ng. Our coordinators totally handled vendor setup, keeping our timeline, and working with guests during our reception so we didn't have to worry about any details. Not to mention, took incredible care beforehand to make sure we were set up in our getting-ready space with drinks, etc. All staff at the event was professional and friendly, and we got a ton of compliments on the venue itself. After our numerous check-in meetings throughout the year leading up to the big day, I felt prepared and relaxed going into the wedding day. All in all, so glad we picked this venue!
As a bbq caterer for a bride at venue all I can say is no customer service from the owner. Her staff is great but I would not recommend this place to my worst bride. She went from ...
come cook in middle of night in March to get product ready for noon event to (3 weeks before wedding) no you cannot arrive until 2pm for a 5pm wedding. Being a from scratch, onsite only caterer, we were in a bind but made things work for the bride. After hearing the bride's story, the owner did not treat her well either. While it is a lovely venue, the owner needs to step away and let her staff run the show.

erall, the space is beautiful and the wedding coordinator provided on the day made sure that me and my groom always had whatever we needed.
I emailed Joe Dombroski, the owner of the Vineyard Estate at New Kent Winery, for pricing details for his venue as I'm out in Colorado, and want to host my wedding in my hometown o...
f VA. After asking Joe, the owner, a few questions, he answered the first few, then did not address my last one (asking about BYOB, catering prices, etc.) and then began sending me a LinkedIn request every week. I currently have 3 from this month alone.
I was tired of receiving these requests in my email and let him know that we've found a new venue. He responded by saying, "Sorry you wasted my time. You did not even tour here. Cheers, Joe". I have never been more validated in making a decision. I am SO glad I did not choose this venue! I can only imagine if he would respond to a stranger this way, that he would not treat a potential bride and her family with respect unless you are doing exactly what he wants you to.
Additionally, I would have to question the morals of someone who would be so rude over the internet to someone who was simply trying to find their ideal wedding venue (and was very kind!)

day went off without a hitch. It was pricey, but was worth every penny spent!
We had a beautiful and near flawless wedding day at New Kent Winery this summer. Everything came together the day of but it was a lot of work to coordinate with the venue and many ...
times they were not responsive for weeks/months at a time. I loved the venue so much I would do it all over again though. I would advise only booking this venue if you hire a third party wedding planner who is organized and will stay on top of the venue. I went with the venues coordinators at an extra cost and had FIVE different coordinators in the span of a year. The first two were unresponsive and terribly disorganized. The last 3 were amazing but I would have preferred to work with one coordinator and not have details lost in translation. Also, it's worth noting that the venue is not flexible when it comes to the timeline. The "tentative" timeline in your contract ends up being the timeline they stick to and won't flex on.. not even by 30 minutes. My ceremony couldn't begin until 6pm which meant reception began at 7:45 and we had to leave by 11. This makes it about 1 hour shorter reception than other venues I looked at. You don't get access to the venue until 4 and it's open to the public until 5. I decided to rent a hotel suite for getting ready instead of getting ready at the venue because 4 was just too late. Make sure you get the max capacity of the venue written into your contract. One of the coordinators contacted me after I sent out invitations months before the wedding to tell me the venue only seats 120 guests not 175 as was previously discussed. Luckily I only had 110 rsvp or we would've had to use the tent and not the actual venue which I was extremely opposed to. Lastly, the owners change policies frequently. Make sure your contract is solid and outlining all details such as alcohol, costs, timeline, guest count, setup, etc. I had to refer back to the terms of the agreement many times. Overall beautiful venue but difficult to coordinate with.
We had our April 2017 wedding at The Vineyard Estate at New Kent, previously called the Vintager Inn. The pros of this venue: the site is beautiful and it’s easy to fall in love wi...
th the gorgeous property and rustic but elegant barn. I do want to say that the pictures came out beautifully and on our wedding day, the venue was beautiful and everything went off day-of without a hitch. The venue staff set up the tables and chairs as we had requested. We had two venue event staff with us on site who were very friendly and helpful. I never visited the bar but understand that the bartenders were kind and efficient. The small barn had just been repainted and the bride and groom suites had been remodeled and looked very nice. We had no issues day-of.
That said, I would not have booked this venue knowing now what incredible frustrations we would encounter in the process of planning. My Husband and I had 4 meetings at the Vintager from first visit to wedding day. Each time we met to discuss the wedding there was a newly hired event coordinator who had none of the information that had been discussed and agreed to with their predecessors. Every meeting was the first meeting. They did not have our vendor list, the layout of the spaces, timing of the day, and the list went on. Conversations that should have happened once had to be repeated, and for a couple who had to travel from out of town to meet in person to get answers and re-litigate details several times, it was a tremendous inconvenience.
Our final straw came a week before the wedding. Per our contract, our confirmed head count was due one month in advance, which we provided. At that time, I requested the calculation of our final payment (which was based on a per head count for wine). I emailed and called several times to check in on the final invoice as it needed to run through accounting and the accountant was out sick on our count due date. A bit over a week later, we received the final invoice. The invoice contained an additional charge related to the bar setup which had not been previously mentioned, agreed upon or discussed.
In the end, it took me, the bride, getting on the phone with the owner the week before my wedding to explain the reasons why I felt the charge to be un-justified for us to come to a mutually agreeable resolution. At that time, I also had the opportunity to share my frustrations with the many changes in staff, lack of record keeping, and changes to our agreements. The owner remained actively involved in the planning for the remaining week leading up to my wedding.
Needless to say, working with this venue throughout planning was not a smooth process. Were I not a professional event planner myself (in a different city) and had I not worked diligently to keep very organized records in my planning, I believe these circumstances would not have been manageable.
The venue is beautiful and the staff are friendly in-person. However, I think there are also many other beautiful venues in the area at a similar or lower price point. If you do decide to book here, go in being prepared to have to fight for what you want and make sure you keep meticulous records and have a strong event planner.

new accommodations to the bridal suite and groom's suite really are beautiful; the decorations/new paint add even more charm to this picturesque location. Not to mention there is SO much more space for the wedding parties to get ready. Both the groom and I enjoyed preparing for the ceremony in our designated suites. The owners are very sweet and really made sure that our vision was captured for our wedding day. Thanks to the Vineyard Estate, we got everything we wanted and more for our wedding day!

cially the newly expanded bridal suite where I could get ready with all of my bridesmaids. The venue looked beautiful and we loved having the chance to take pictures in the nearby vineyards too.
Our guests are still raving about the wine package and how good the wines were. We appreciated having the wine package so that we knew we wouldn't run out of alcohol at any time during our reception. I would definitely recommend the Vineyard Estate to future couples who want an easy planning process with a unique venue.

l hour in the smaller barn and the reception in the larger barn. After we signed the contract, we had a few bumps in the road. The new owners had just taken over, the staffing was changing a lot, and communication wasn't clear about some details for what was allowed and required. However, the venue had a few things that helped make up for these. The new bridal suite is BEAUTIFUL and makes for awesome pictures. The groom's "mancave" is super cool and my husband had a great time with his groomsmen in there before the ceremony. We also used the venue's wedding coordinator. We went through a few people because staffing wasn't stable at first, but the girls they have working there now are awesome, especially Dana. These ladies made sure that we stayed on time and were there to help with setup, breakdown, and everything in between. Though there was some confusion at the beginning of our experience, with the new wedding coordinators on staff, everything went perfectly! We could not have asked for anything to go smoother the day of, and we appreciate all of their efforts to correct any past problems and make our special day happen stress free.

at job of selling the winery to us, making us feel like it would be all about our day (& it should be for how much it we paid between the venue, wine package, & miscellaneous other small things) but once it was booked & paid for, about 2 months out from the wedding, all these things that were originally promised to us (between the 3 different event planners they've had over the last year) were all of a sudden not possible. There is a huge lack of communication among their staff. Our guest count was 150 & I had told them that multiple times yet they still only had 100 chairs set out so my planner & her team were running around like crazy trying to gather chairs as guests are being seated. As far as getting ready, they were not open to us needing to come early to get ready so we could have pictures done pre-ceremony (they do not allow your ceremony to begin until 6 because they are open for wine tasting yet sunset is at 6:30 this time of year so we had no option but to do our first look, bridal party photos, and family photos before the ceremony). This was a big deal for the winery & the day of, when the groomsmen arrived, they felt very unwelcomed by the winery staff. I get that they were open for business and tasting, but I can also guarantee those customers were not spending nearly as much as we did to have our wedding there. I think if they made events feel as if they are more of a priority, they would find out it would be such a better venue experience for all. If it weren't for my wedding planner & her team, it could have been a very stressful wedding week, especially day of. My advice if you want to book here is to make sure EVERY little thing or detail is written in your contract because they are not very flexible and will verbally promise things that they can't follow through on.

er. Andrea Kephart was our contact at the vineyard and she was amazing. She catered to all of the details and kept us on track when we forgot something. We did our own coordination, so this was needed at times :) On the day of the wedding, she had everything ready and had coordinated with the vendors to make everything perfect. I can honestly say there is not a single thing I would change about the venue, people, or night. This is a great place to get married and a great staff to help with it!
NKW is a great venue to consider for your outdoor wedding. The landscape is beautiful and the winery staff are great to work with. They have wedding packages to meet any budget.
My girlfriends took me here for a tasting to start off my night. We actually were able to watch a wedding taking place there while we had our tasting. Great setting.
