I hired Phelicia because my grandparents all passed away before I was born. The best collection of photos of them was my parents' wedding album. The pictures are lovely, but I always wished they'd been less posed. I wanted to know how my grandparents looked at my parents during the ceremony. I wanted to know if they liked the food, if they chatted with my parents' friends. I wanted to know if they danced one last time, or stood aside and shared a joke with the other old folks, rubbing their sore knees. Phelicia's specialty is capturing all that — the incredible candid moments of love and humor between people celebrating some of the most special days of their life. She snaps a pic right when someone puts on that facial expressions that's unique just to them. Her photos make you look back and say, "that's EXACTLY how so-and-so is." Her photos couldn't have been taken at anybody else's weddings, when I feel so many wedding photographers just do the same thing every time. Don't get me wrong, she does wonderful posed pictures of couples, wedding parties, families, school reunions, etc. She works fast and makes her settings look gorgeous. But what I'm so grateful, really, is that her photos of our wedding are some of the best memories and family treasures I now have.
