We were so impressed and in love with our wedding cake by Nine Cakes! Betsy was an absolute dream to work with - She made the cake tasting process so easy and COVID-safe, mailing us samples, and made the cake exactly like we wanted it! It was truly one of the most delicious cakes I had ever eaten (I have to restrain myself from eating to top tier every time I open the freezer!) and we had multiple guests comment on how great the cake looked and tasted. Wow. My wedding cake was stunning . Betsy with Nine Cakes was recommended to me by my venue coordinator and she was the easiest and friendliest person to work with. She definitely takes pride in what she does from her covid friendly tastings by mail (which are so cute I took pictures of it), to the time she takes on the phone talking about your vision. Not only do her cakes look stunning but they taste amazing which is just not always the case with wedding cakes. I will be recommending her to all of my friends getting married

Betsy and Haley were a dream to work with and their level of talent was unreal. We wanted 3 smaller cakes for our wedding, instead of one large one. I had a couple of reference photos of what I liked, but in my mind they didn’t make sense together. They were able to design the cakes to have all the parts that I liked in my reference photos and were able to make the cakes look like they belonged together without being too matchy. The sugar flowers were so realistic, I had to actually bite one to convince a guest that they weren’t real flowers. On top of the cakes looking beautiful and fitting in seamlessly with the florals and décor of our wedding, they tasted incredible! We had 3 flavors: almond with raspberry, chocolate, and tiramisu, and I still can’t decide which one was my favorite. They also gave us extra boxes so we could take the leftovers to brunch the morning after our wedding. We were especially happy about this because we had so many people not able to come to our wedding last minute because of Covid. We could not have been happier with the cakes they made and our overall experience working with them. We are already talking about asking them to make a small cake for our 1st anniversary!

Despite having to reschedule our wedding due to COVID, and therefore trying to find a cake at the last minute, Nine Cakes was able to get us samples and turn around our wedding cake in almost no time at all. They did such a great job, and designed an amazing cake to fit in with our decor. On top of all of that, the cake was truly delicious, lemon and raspberry that was fresh vibrant and perfect for a hot summer day. We cannot wait to finish it off on our anniversary!

Nine Cakes is absolutely amazing – both the team and the finished product! We really appreciated how easy it was to sample cakes with the cake sampler box. After narrowing down our favorites (which was so hard with so many yummy flavors), we had a great chat with Betsy to finalize the design. The final design was absolutely perfect and our guests loved comparing the different flavor combos we picked! We can’t wait to have the top tier of our cake in a year!!

Working with Nine Cakes for our wedding was an amazing experience. My husband and I LOVE dessert so we were really focused on finding the right cake for our wedding. We tried out a few different tasting options in the beginning and it was clear right away that Nine Cakes was by far the best and most delicous option! Betsy was communicative, easy to work with, and totally got our vision (despite never meeting in person because of Covid!). Working with Nine Cakes on our wedding was easy, fun, and of course, delicious. They were lovely to coordinate and communicate with and the process was straightforward. The tasting was really cute and helpful, the process of picking our design was fast, and the cake at the wedding turned out beautiful and very very good. Highly recommended.

We weren’t able to sample any flavors because our wedding guest list was too small, so we had to blindly choose a flavor and hope for the best or pay a hefty price for a wedding guest list of 75 or more. However, the Ginger Pomegranate flavor turned out great. I wouldn’t recommend for smaller weddings because of sampling.

The most delicious wedding cake we and our guests have ever had. After striking out at another bakery for our dream wedding cake, Nine Cakes was a breath of fresh air. Owner Betsy Thorleifson helped us design our perfect cake inside and out, combining our love of cycling (with subtle hints of bike wheels) and the venue (The Foundry, with hints of sugar foliage). Most importantly, the cake was incredible—our guests raved saying that this was the best wedding cake they had ever had. Of note, Betsy’s chocolate cake is amazing—moist, rich, yet you can have more than one bite. Cake was a priority for us, and we cannot thank the team at Nine Cakes enough. It’s worth a trip to their Brooklyn bakery for a tasting and design consultation—you won’t want to go anywhere else.

Nine Cakes was a pleasure to work with, and we could not have been more pleased with the final product! We had a four tier cake with sugar flowers that matched our actual floral arrangements and incorporated two flavors: chocolate+salted caramel and lemon+strawberry. The cake was gorgeous and both flavors were delicious -- I had multiple pieces. Communication, payment, and delivery were all a breeze. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Nine Cakes was absolutely amazing to work with. From the cake tasting to the seamless payment and to the final delivery. We had a five tier cake with sugar flowers that matched our actual flowers in the wedding and the details were STUNNING. We could not stop staring at it and it was too beautiful to eat. The flavors were super delicious and everyone told me how great it was. Very nice people to work with, I recommend this to anyone who wants to have a baller cake at their wedding!!

Nine Cakes made the most gorgeous and delicious cake for our wedding at Brooklyn Winery this past weekend. We got a strawberry lemon curd cake with the outside covered with clusters of fruit. It was so artistically done, and they even went out of their way to incorporate our favorite fruit, Ranier Cherries, into the design. We could not have had a better experience with Nine Cakes from start to finish.

Nine Cakes made a beautiful and delicious wedding cake for us. They have a great menu of unique flavors that you can try at the tasting. After meeting Betsy at the tasting, we immediately decided to book her based on both her delicious cakes and absolutely delightful personality. She is truly one of the nicest people you will ever meet and was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. We ultimately decided to go with two flavors—Chocolate/Salted Caramel and Vanilla Cardamom/Raspberry—and both were amazing. Betsy created a beautiful design for our cake and topped it off with stunning sugar flowers. We highly recommend Nine Cakes!

AMAZING!! Betsy and her team created the most beautiful wedding cake I have ever seen for our wedding day!! Not only was the cake beautiful but tasted so good!! They made the process very easy as well, from the tasting to getting it delivered to the venue, everything went perfect!

Nine Cakes made the most beautiful wedding cake for us. We were initially unsure of the cake design we wanted, as we liked many designs so in the end we just told them our vision and asked them to make it a surprise for us. We didn’t see the cake until our wedding reception and wow, it was beautiful, and they really did deliver! On top of the cake looking good, it tasted so delicious that our guests gave so many compliments and kept asking what flavor we got (Hazelnut). Betsy is the best. I don’t even like cake that much, but hers—I almost ate all of the samples, forgetting to save some for my fiancé. The samples are not small...Our cakes were beautiful and as good as the samples. The shop is precious and I will be back now for birthdays and any other excuse for cake.

We absolutely loved working with Nine Cakes for our wedding. We came across them on Instagram and fell in love with the look of their cakes. They were the only tasting we did, because after eating the cakes, we knew it was the right choice for us. They taste even better than they look. We met with Betsy for our tasting, who was so friendly and collaborative. We had a pretty specific vision and wanted our cake to match our invitation suite, and Nine Cakes brought it to life perfectly. We were so impressed by Nine Cakes that we have ordered more cakes from them since for birthdays, etc. We highly recommend them!

The only person who could sing Nine Cakes' praises louder than my husband and I would be my mom - we absolutely loved working with Jess and her team! From the intimate tasting, to the incredible grooms cake, and the unforgettable wedding cake everything was absolutely perfect. We 100% will be using Nine Cakes again for our next big event!

I have been joking that I got married for the cake... which is only partially true ;) BUT this cake was off-the-charts delicious and SO beautiful! I was impressed by their unique menu - we chose an almond cake with a coconut meringue frosting and chocolate morsels. It was incredible and many people have told me they had multiple slices! AND they didn't charge us for the tasting (which everyone else does understandably but I was still impressed by that choice). Betsy was lovely to work with during a very stressful time. I'm over the moon with my choice of cake (and can't wait to eat the one slice next year that I was able to freeze because the venue hid it!) BRAVO!

What a joy to work with Nine Cakes for my daughters wedding! I can't imagine a more beautiful and delicious wedding cake. From pomegranate buttercream and crystallized ginger filling to an anniversary layer of lemon cake and lemon curd......yummmm. I ordered my wedding cake from Nine Cakes, and from start to finish, working with Betsy and her team was a joy. Our cake tasting was so wonderful, we had a tough time deciding on just one flavor and ened up combining a few! Betsy worked with us to create our own custom design, and even sketched it out in front of us so we could picture it. Her team was timely, professional and most importantly, created a beautiful and delicious cake that was enjoyed by everyone at the event. Highly recommend!

I knew I wanted to work with Nine Cakes early into the wedding planning process because of their drool-worthy Instagram - I never knew I'd be the kind of girl to lust after a cake! Betsy and her team are masters at their craft and they really create stunning works of art. After our cake tasting, my (now) husband and I were shocked at how delicious their cakes are as well - it was too hard to narrow down to one flavor, so we ended up incorporating a couple. When it came time for our wedding cake, the team absolutely nailed what I was going for - an aesthetic I couldn't even properly articulate (and I'm an interior designer, so shame on me!), but Betsy was completely aligned with. We hired Nine Cakes to create our wedding cake, and the entire experience, from the tasting to the wedding day, was amazing. Everything tastes delicious (even their fondant is good), and they have some lovely, creative flavors. Our cake was stunning- and they were nice, responsive, and extremely helpful. We can't recommend them highly enough!

Amazing - absolutely amazing!!! As everyone knows the wedding cake is one of the pillars of any wedding and Betsy and Jess at Nine Cakes are marvels. They are so kind, friendly, and willing to listen to every whim of the wedding couple and provide suggestions and guidance along the way. It was a true pleasure working with them. Our wedding cake was banana cake flavored with cream cheese icing, fresh strawberries, and mocha layer cream for an additional surprise. It was perfect, so tasty, and moist and fresh. Our wedding also included a dessert table but all of our guests simply hovered around the wedding cake as it was the best ever!! Thank you!

Nine Cakes only cares about money and not about their customers. They adhere to their small print to a point that is hurtful. Due to a pet dying in my arms at home the morning of their cake class, I could not come in. I asked for no refund, to simply be allowed to come to the next class and to please charge me for the small 6" cake that would have been decorated. I literally begged for an exception due to the sad and extenuating circumstances. They refused, and offered their 50% refund that was in their small print, no other possibility, end of conversation. Good luck to you. Their unwavering stance on their policy, and their condescending and jovial tone in their follow-up emails, when talking about a traumatic experience and my unhappiness felt callous. It felt like form letters after that point. Betsy and Jess simply cares about money at the end of the day, not about their customers. And that love of, and #1 status of, money makes them cold. I do not want to have these people help celebrate joyful events, and I don’t want to learn from them anymore either. I truly have lost all respect for them after being a fan for quite a long time. I am getting married in earlier 2019 and was excited to meet the team that I was planning to have make our wedding cake, but that will not happen now. If you happen to place an order, or have tickets to an event, and you break your leg, get into a car accident, or your mom dies, don't expect Nine Cakes to care about anything other than their money.

Where do you even start with Nine Cakes? Every aspect of working with them is a pleasure. Jess and her entire staff are warm, friendly, and professional. Communication is easy, fast, and clear. Their cake flavors are a little unique (read: not run of the mill boring) are DELICIOUS and so creative. It was truly hard to make a selection! The shop itself is cute, and so fun to go for a tasting. The cakes themselves--stunning. STUNNING! If a non-traditional, non-classic white cake (even though I am sure they would do that beautifully, too) is your thing, GO HERE. Cake pricing was very reasonable, especially with all of the extra decorations and sugar flowers we had. We talked to some cake vendors that charged $30-$50 per sugar flower! We had a winter wedding, and I wanted a dark cake rich with texture and dark flowers, and they executed perfectly. We got so many compliments on how beautiful and elegant the cake was, and even more delicious! Best decision. Thank you, Nine Cakes!

Nine Cakes is AMAZING! I just got married this past weekend, and could not be happier that I went with Nine Cakes! I wanted something different and a little edgier than your typical white wedding cake. Once I saw their portfolio of amazing cakes, it was clear they could do anything. I trusted them so much that I just sent them some photos (invitations, colors, aesthetic we were going for) and told them to do whatever they wanted! The cake that showed up at the wedding was PERFECT. It was edgy with our moody color palette but still absolutely stunning with flowers that made several people ask me "Are those real flowers?" and were shocked to discover that they were sugar flowers. It was a piece of art and my husband and I actually felt bad cutting it! Not only was the cake stunning, but it was delicious too! Every guest that had cake came up to me at some point raving about how delicious it was and confessing they couldn't stop at just one piece. You really can't go wrong with Nine Cakes for any of your cake needs!

When we were looking at wedding cake vendors, we wanted someone who would make us a beautiful cake that would taste great. Our cake from Nine Cakes absolutely delivered. The initial tasting was a joy and all the flavors were outstanding. We went with a lovely lemon that received many compliments and the cake itself was beautiful. Betsy also happily coordinated with our florist as we wanted fresh flowers on the cake.

Working with Betsy and her team was SWEET from start to finish! They were always prompt, pleasant, and flexible- I had my heart set on a particular flavor that wasn’t available on the menu but Betsy was happy to work with me on it! (For curious brides, it was rose petal!) The initial tasting was gorgeously arranged and when we found out we could do two cake flavors without an additional fee (the second we selected was from their fall menu: salted caramel filling with hazelnut/chocolate buttercream) it sealed the deal. The design was just as we envisioned it, and they definitely have the technical skill to go as clean/classic or whimsical/edgy as you want. We are already planning to order a small cake for our anniversary to celebrate! Many thanks to the team here.

Let’s just cut to it – Betsy and her staff at Nine Cakes are incredible. These cakes aren’t just stunning (their flower sugar work is mind blowing), but they’re delicious! Like want to eat this every day of my life kind of good. My fiancé and I went back and forth about whether or not we wanted to have a traditional wedding cake for our big day. After all the majority of the wedding cakes we’ve had at other weddings have been dry, underwhelming and a complete waste. But then our venue (The Foundry) recommended we check out Nine Cakes… So after checking their website, drooled over the cake flavor options, and stalked their Instagram account, we quickly scheduled our tasting. After that, there was no longer a debate about having a cake or not, it was then what flavor do we want and what should it look like. We got so many of our friends and family comment on how beautiful and delicious the cake was. We are so glad that Nine Cakes was a part of our big day!

I don't even know where to start. A cake was very important to me. I wanted it to be part of the decor, I wanted it to be delicious, and I wanted it to be worthy of a formal cake cutting. When looking online Nine Cakes was the only company that seemed to meet all that criteria, then my wedding planner also recommend them and that sealed the deal. From the first tasting I knew I had made the right decision. The cakes were all so good and the presentation lovely. Everyone was really responsive and amazingly helpful. And then the cake on the day of the wedding was incredible! A beautiful centerpiece that was also delicious. If you want something classic, elegant and timeless, this is the company for you!

Betsy is a creative genius! She turned our dream cake into a delicious reality. We had cake for 300 people; with alternating layers. Betsy is so professional and is easily accessible to both phone and e-mail; responding promtly. Betsy also worked on a star wars themed grooms cake which was a huge hit! Check her out on instagram. She was very reasonable and delivered in every way possible. I cant wait to collaborate again with betsy for upcoming events in the future.

We worked with Betsy for our wedding on July 26, 2014 at The Liberty Warehouse. We first met Betsy at her shop for our tasting. Right away, we could tell how genuine and down to earth she is. We tried different cake flavors, and appreciated Betsy's suggestions. It was easy to tell that she is knowledgeable and a true, creative artist. We decided on a "naked cake" with frosting only in between the layers of cake and not on the outside - I showed Betsy 1-2 pictures, and she completely nailed it. The cake turned out more beautiful than I dreamed, and it tasted delicious as well. Our guests raved about the uniqueness and deliciousness of the cake for days afterwards! Look no further than Betsy and Nine cakes to make your wedding or event desserts perfect!

Cake shopping with my now wife is not a simple thing. She is VERY picky about quality, being a Baker herself. She also was looking for a level of simplicity that requires a truly skilled hand. We found everything we were looking for and some working with nine cakes. We were kept informed and our requests were addressed quickly. We not only got two wonderful tasting cakes, citrus berry and salted carmel, but a design that was simple and gorgeous. We could not be happier with our experience with nine cakes. Same goes for our guests who have not stopped talking about the cakes.

Betsy made a dense, delicious chocolate gluten-free cake for my ceremony. It was great. And she is the most talented cake designer - it was simple and beautiful.

We worked with Nine Cakes for both our rehearsal dinner cake and wedding cake. They are the perfect mix: delicious cakes and amazing design. Working with them was a breeze and we couldn't have asked for better tasting cakes. They even made us a cake that looked like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup! Our guests could not get over how great the cakes tasted at our wedding.

My Husband and I were set from our first tasting. Betsy at Nine Cakes is a phenomenal baker and her cakes are creative, personalized and packed with flavor. We can't wait to eat our top tier on our first anniversary, if we can wait that long...

We were referred to Betsy through a friend. We contacted her and set up our tasty which was great. Betsy prepared for us an absurd about for our tasting and everything was delicious! We wanted to do a different and funky design for the cake. (Topsy-turvy, polka dot.) We exchanged a few imagines and decided on something that worked. When my husband and I saw the cake, we were initially concerned about the shape. It was lopsided, but not so much that it looked like it was supposed to be lopsided. It looked like it was a sincere mistake. Also, the polka dots were starting to melt down the sides. Granted it was a muggy day in early Sept, but we were still slightly disappointed at first glance. Later on the night when it was time to cut the cake, it was placed on a table with candles and turned a different way so the lopsided looked more exaggerated. The best part was the taste! Like our tasting, the cake she made us for our wedding was phenomenal! Everyone told us how delicious all the different flavors were. (We had three different flavors.) Betsy also had a special box prepared for the top tier for us to take home. Bottom line, the cake tastes great! If you want a basic shape and have solid refrigeration at your venue, call Betsy! If design is more important to you, keep looking. We would go with Betsy all over again, because her cake was that good!

Nine Cakes was referred to me by another bride. The cakes were moist and absolutely wonderful. I showed her what i want and she delivered. We had the cakes to go, which i recomemnd along with other favors. All the guests emailed us or called my mom and said we just had the wedding cake this morning with coffee and we can remember the fabulous evening we had.

Betsy at Nine Cakes is fantastic- she was so easy to work with, professional, very sweet, and makes delicious cakes! The tasting was so much fun for my now-husband and I, as the store is so cute. She has such incredible icing and cake options, and really worked with us to find the perfect combinations. We settled on an almond cake with passion-fruit and raspberry icings; and a red velvet cake with cream cheese, to compliment the chocolate-souffle desert at Cipriani. The fondant cake looked beautiful- I had a specific vision and photo, and Betsy was able to achieve it. She was also very detail oriented making sure to get the exact colors and flowers I wanted on the cake. Delivery was seamless and professional. Overall Nine Cakes was fantastic to work with and a great choice for for a wedding cake vendor!

I got a lemon cake with raspberry and vanilla buttercream and fresh raspberries for my August Wedding. It was adorable and delicious. I highly recommend having a tasting with Betsy at Nine cakes.

we celebrated with the strawberry lemonade cake from nine cakes, and it was some of the best cake i've ever had. our guests loved it too (there was even enough left over for breakfast the next morning...) my father wanted to decorate our cake, so betsy, the owner and baker, sold us individual cakes (and even offered some advice), which we so appreciated!

As I was a destination bride I never got to meet Betsy from Nine Cakes. I can only imagine how wonderful she is in person if her warm and friendly emails are anything to go by. She made planning so easy and produced us the most beautiful and delicious cake. I gave a rough idea of what we'd like but left the actual design up to her - I was amazed at how suited to my taste the finished result was. It was such a lovely design and beautifully made. Very highly recommended.

Delicious cake from Nine Cakes in Brooklyn. We had a custom Chocolate Cake with caramel buttercream on the inside and white buttercream on the outside, dark chocolate dripping down the outside layers and concord grapes. She was really great to work with and we got a ton of compliments on the cake. I'm not a fondant type of gal so this cake was for me. YUM
