Our friends and family cannot stop talking about how that was the best dance party they've ever been to at a wedding. There are too many moments to list, but it was a wonderful night, we're so glad Matt was a part of our wedding reception. He felt out the vibe of the party and kept the dance floor packed all night by playing music that people really enjoyed -- never getting bogged down by slow songs or cheesy wedding dances. Thank you for bringing the energy and making our day a true celebration of love. And for making it, so our family had to be dragged off the dance floor.

Ben gave us great guidance on how to nail the dance floor, like when to go obscure and when to go more well known. From the start, Ben made it clear that he cares most about the dance floor. His company opts for minimal announcements, and for the prelude music, cocktail hour, and dinner, we made playlists that he shuffled. This was all great by us. And before we get into our watchouts, let me just say that Ben absolutely crushed the dance floor. It was going all night. Almost everyone came up to us afterwards to compliment us on the music choices and the floor itself. Ben pulled from our playlist and through in some songs that matched the vibe, and it was spectacular. One of my big concerns was that I read Ben’s company cuts songs off early; we really didn’t want this to feel like a medley of songs, and I need to say that Ben did a phenomenal job letting songs breathe and making sure everything flowed perfectly. However, there were two big things that happened that we need to call out. The first one was that Ben played a demo version of our aisle walkdown song instead of the version we wanted. It was a pretty big bummer. We had a big prelude playlist that culminated in this song, and when the demo version started, we had a mini heart attack. We told our coordinator that it was the wrong version, but instead of finding the album version, Ben played the demo again. We’re not sure who’s responsibility it was to make sure it was the right version of the song – whether it was ours, Ben’s, or our coordinators – but we hoped the DJ would be confirming the correct version for such a big moment. The other problem we had was that during a friend’s speech, Ben called our friend my wife’s name three separate times. If you’re going with Ben, know that you’ll have an amazing dance floor and a DJ that puts his all into the music. But I’d just be on top of everything, and triple check the details to make sure it’s exactly what you want.

We decided to not have an MC, because we didn’t need the extra hype/someone screaming into a mic all night. We really wanted the music to guide the night. And that is exactly what Thando did for us! The calls and paperwork @ntweddingdjs puts together before the big day makes it super easy to pinpoint the flow of the day and what we like. They even have Spotify playlists you can choose from which is super cool. The ceremony into the reception was exactly what we wanted. Overall we are very happy we made it either decided to book with @ntweddings and would recommend to anyone that wants the music to dictate the flow of the night.

Not only that, he was really flexible on the actual wedding day, when adjustments were made during rehearsal. He also emceed our speeches and did such a nice job of gently getting attention without feeling like an announcer.

Besides being very professional, she seamlessly transitioned between genres and threw in some of her own on-theme selections to mix it up. The music led to wonderful moments on the dance floor and our guests complimented the music during the night and afterwards. The best part was hearing friends say, "The music is SO YOU." There were a few times when we had to request some quick adjustments (lighting, moving the toast set up, etc.) and Flavya handled those perfectly. The process for working with Non-Traditional DJs is easy enough and very clear. They have a wealth of Spotify playlists that helped refine our thinking/requests before our final pre-wedding conversation.

As a queer couple, my partner and I also found them open-minded for all the non-traditional ways we wanted to celebrate ourselves and make the ceremony a safe space. Joe is also a very sweet individual and I was happy to be able to work with him. I'd recommend Non-Traditional Wedding DJs to anyone, and especially Joe if you love a good EDM playlist!

On the day of our wedding, we wanted to include really specific things, such as looping a favorite song as the wedding party entered until the "beat dropped" for our entrance to cultural elements. I'm not sure many DJs can pull off a seamless transition from Filipino Line Dancing (i.e., while working with a separate line dance instructor vendor) to the Polka, but DJ Rafe did! On top of all this, DJ Rafe was super chill and fun! After our wedding, MANY guests came up to us and let us know that the DJ crushed it; they also could tell that the music was super aligned with our (& our friends) tastes, while also honoring the requests of our families. Finally, a moment that stood out to me was when DJ Rafe checked in after I knocked over an entire floral arrangement at our sweetheart table! His reaction was perfect - funny, but caring - and I totally appreciated that he took a second to make sure we were all good/reassured us. Thank you SO, SO much!!! We wish we could have you DJ our lives!
