My husband I got married at the North Garden Theater a couple of weeks ago and it was beyond anything we could have dreamed of. The venue was absolutely incredible, the lighting and setup were perfect. The owners, Ryan and Tina, helped our timeline run smoothly and went above and beyond to make it the best day for us. Everything was amazing, from the setup of the ceremony to the flip for the reception. During the process of planning, the owners quickly answered any question we had and made it fun to plan. One of our favorite features was the use of the projector, it was such a special moment when we showed all the guests a video my husband had worked on for several months. We are so grateful for how wonderful the day was. Having our own music playlists made the day even more personable and the projector screen had a beautiful backdrop. Highly recommend this venue to those looking for that personalized experience and a touch of movie magic!

Tina and I (Ryan) are the owners of the North Garden Theater. We saved this historic movie theater from the St. Paul wrecking ball in December of 2015. We have had a great time creating an elegant and functional space that routinely exceeds our clients expectations! Our background is retail and theater... so we are uniquely qualified to deliver a quality production that doesn't skimp on customer service. We're also parents. You'll often find our son helping out at events! We are real / down to earth, kind people with good communication skills! We look forward to working with you!

ny questions we had. We loved that we could choose our own vendors for catering, photo booth, and rentals. The staff on site for our day was top notch and executed our partial flip without a hitch as well as being attentive to cleaning up tables throughout the night. The cherry on top was that we could add personal touches to the space with the marquee and the movie poster boxes!
Our guests made so many comments about what a wonderfully unique and cool venue we chose and we could not agree more!

There were many unique features (you can have your names on their marquee!) and offerings that allowed us to personalize our special day in meaningful ways for our guests; trivia, slideshows, videos, movies posters and more. Their AV system is top notch and complimented all of our dancing and toasts during the evening. We received so many compliments on the venue throughout the night and months later from our guests! Such a special place!

the price it was an incredible value. They include a lot of things for no extra cost, including tables and chares, tablecloths, photo booth backdrops, microphones and sounds system, and have a built in bar that the owners run, so you don't have to hire bartenders. I also highly recommend using the marquee out front, it was a great addition to our wedding and some of my favorite photos are us under it. There is list of preferred venders, but they are willing to work with others as well if you would prefer. They were very responsive to our emails, usually getting back to us within a day or two even when the wedding was still months away. They were incredibly flexible, and happy to listen to our ideas on how things could be ran, but also gave us great advice when we needed it. On the actual day of he wedding everything looked amazing. We did the option where you could come in and set up the night before, and we are very glad we did since it meant a lot less stress on our wedding day. Our guests loved the venue, and we got a lot of compliments on it and questions about how we found such a great place. If you are looking for a great wedding venue in the Saint Paul area I can't recommend them enough.

. You can tell they really care about making sure your event goes perfectly.
Tables, chairs and linens came with the rental, which most places do not do. We got to customize the lighting, the dance party lighting (which is extensive with fog machine!), and the entire layout. They have a bar onsite and the cocktails were great! They were able to serve our guests very quickly. We used multiple Spotify playlists for our music and Ryan was on point switching between them at the right times.
The facilities were amazing too; large dressing room to get ready, and nice big bathrooms that they continually cleaned throughout the night. They are also big on reducing waste so we were able to use all compostable cups, which we also had our caterer use all compostable plates and silverware.
I really do not have enough great things to say about Ryan, Tina and NGT; they made such a magical day for us!!!

Leading up to our event Ryan and Tina were there to help in any way and were attentive to our needs. We felt like we were able to make the day our own without paying an arm and a leg. The day of our reception Ryan and Tina made the night smooth so easy. They were attentive to our needs and worked with us and our guests. All of our guests were so impressed by the space and by the North Garden Theater staff. NGT is the perfect space to use if you want to make the day your own and work with a great team. This is a great venue if you want something that is reasonably priced with a vintage and slightly industrial vibe. Ryan is a pleasure to work with, he was very responsive to emails...
and knows all the questions to ask even though you may not know what you want or need. He's very experienced so you can trust that your wedding will go smoothly and as planned. I held my reception here and I was so pleased when I walked in after our ceremony. Tables were set up like we agreed to, the lights made great ambiance, there was room to dance, catering was set up and everyone was already having a good time. I'm so glad I chose this venue!

They easily accommodated all of our customized requests, and even had some special features we didn't think to ask for (like custom cocktails and special dance floor lighting for Prince songs - which we loved). The space is gorgeous, elegant, and really doesn't need any extra decorations, and they set up everything with our caterers before we even got there, so all we had to do was sit back and enjoy the party! I loved that we could plug our dance playlist into their sound system (which means we didn't have to hire a DJ), and they also provided a photo background with great lighting for our polaroid station (which our guests loved). All in all, we had an amazing night at North Garden Theater, and a fantastic experience working with Ryan and Tina. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

venue is incredibly reasonably priced, so for two restaurant industry people who wanted to get married, this was perfectly within budget. My husband and I are queer, so it meant the world to me that they were so understanding and accepting immediately. The venue was personalizable every step of the way, which let us go wild with our forgotten circus themed wedding. They have a list of preferred caterers, but allow any caterer you'd like with a license, and the bar was completely customizable. We love a family business, and that's exactly what this theater is.
I cannot recommend them enough for any event. (Not to mention we've loved every theater production we've seen here!)

reate the evening we wanted. They quickly adapted to our needs as MN regulations changed over and over. Ryan & Tina were so easy to work with and planning the details was a breeze. They made sure all our tastes were accommodated.
On the day of the wedding, Ryan, Tina and their son were on top of everything. They helped so much with decorations, sound, lighting and last minute tasks.
The venue itself is unique and hip. So many of our guests commented on how much they loved the vibe of the theater. All the costs were up front and straight forward. So many of the other venues I looked at had extra hidden fees and requirements. NGT has dance lights and sound system built in, bar built in, great parking option, beautiful uplighting, tables, table cloths, and chairs all set up perfectly before we got there, etc. So many details that helped make the day go smoother.
We really can’t recommend them enough.

Trying to plan a wedding in the middle of a pandemic is just about the worst thing you want to have to stress about. We had booked NGT in 2019 for a 2020 fall wedding, so once ever...
ything was shutting down we had to put our plans on hold.
Throughout all of this, Ryan was very communicative and flexible with our up-in-the-air plans. One of Ryan's top priorities was making sure that I was as stress-free as possible. Ryan and Tina are truly amazing at what they do and offer some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. I feel so lucky to be able to look back on my wedding day and have nothing but awesome memories!
For folks who are still not sure if NGT is the right venue for you, let me ask you this: If North Garden Theater was able to give us a flawless wedding during covid, then can you imagine how amazing they are with everything else?

and flexible during this difficult time we know as 2020! They genuinely care about the couples they work with, as is shown in their amazing communication and attention to detail—I got to experience this first hand on my wedding day when our officiant was late and nobody could get a hold of them. Ryan and Tina immediately jumped in and offered suggestions for how to delay the ceremony without making it obvious something was wrong, and had a family member on standby to drive in and perform the ceremony if our officiant didn’t show. They truly went above and beyond. I recommend the North Garden Theater without hesitation, and hope to host another event there in the future!

2020 has taught us to have flexibility and patience. Ryan and Tina are stewards of both. We were supposed to have our 145-person wedding at the North Garden Theater in April of 20...
20 – but like the rest of the world – everything was turned upside down due to Covid-19. We chose to dial back our guest list to just immediate family, and hosted a much smaller version of our wedding and reception at the North Garden Theater in August of 2020.
Not only were Ryan and Tina incredibly flexible in allowing us to move our date – they were eager to provide creative solutions on how to make a smaller event work. Throughout the entire process they were extremely easy to work with and were timely in all their communications. They were very accommodating during our set-up and tear-down; and even provided a few extra special touches to really make this an unbelieve experience for us. We cannot recommend the North Garden Theater enough – especially for anyone looking for a beautiful, safe venue for their weddings/receptions during this pandemic. The North Garden Theater encapsulates St. Paul; the venue space is beautifully renovated to represent historic St. Paul. It’s simply gorgeous.
Now because our overall experience was so fantastic working with Ryan and Tina and with how beautiful the venue is; we plan to have them host our larger gathering in May of 2021. We are very much so looking forward to working with the NGT again next spring! We highly recommend them!

ception venue. But we booked a showing just to be sure...And we are so glad we did! What the North's have done with the space is magnificent. Ryan and Tina are so accommodating with any customization we needed and they run the bar, and much of the hospitality themselves, which comes complimentary with the rental. All of our guests were so surprised at how unique and fun this space and reception was for our purposes. If you're looking for both a unique and reasonable venue, this is your place!

We loved making the NGT our own; there are lovely spots for photos, the bar is conveniently all set to go, and the space allows guests to feel comfortable and experience the party you’ll be creating! We loved the option of choosing our own caterer and DJ, and customizing the marquee and background during the ceremony. Ryan’s expertise with lighting made everything even more beautiful. He has a great crew and I would recommend the NGT to anyone hosting a wedding, or any other event where they need a beautiful space to gather.

The layout felt very comfortable and spacious with plenty of room for dancing into the night!!

We were especially pleased with the option to personalize the marquee, and the colored uplights on the indoor brick (we chose not to bring any additional decorations, and we didn't need them). They have a sound system all set up, so we just plugged in a phone and played a spotify playlist - wonderfully easy. The bar was well-stocked with a good variety of beer, wine, liquors, sodas, and juices. Arranging event details was done easily via email, and Ryan was quick to answer any questions we had. I highly recommend North Garden Theater, and I look forward to attending more events there!

Ryan and Tina helped us order our specialty wine and even our vendors said that this venue was one of the coolest they had ever seen. My only disappointment was that we had to eventually leave, I could have stayed there all night.

Reasons why I love The NGT:
1. Ryan and Tina were AWESOME to work with - very quick to get back to emails and answer questions. Super accommodating with all the vendors I was work...
ing with and I felt like I could customize EVERYTHING with them (down to the jalapeno margaritas that Tina and Ryan prepared!).
2. So reasonably priced! Security was included with our rental, they helped with parking, set a beautiful ambiance of the space, included tables and chairs (and helped with setup and tear down), did a custom marquee message, and so much more. We had the venue from early afternoon all the way to midnight. We were able to reserve the space the night before to host our rehearsal dinner and complete the setup (pro tip: get late night pizza from Joe and Stan's - you will not regret!).
3. Customizations all around! I've eluded to this already a little, but it was so great it deserves a second mention - every time I came to The NGT with a hope to customize something they said "no problem!" and made it happen without adding a bill unto my tab, which is so incredibly rare in wedding planning.
4. Beautiful space with room for everyone and everything. We had our ceremony and reception at The NGT - it was perfect because there was a space for the bridal party and groomsmen to get ready separately, a seamless transition from ceremony to dinner, and the venue itself allows for beautiful lighting and sound.

In addition to being very nice people, they were communicative, and provided useful tools to help us arrange the space to best suit our needs. We loved the flexibility of renting a space without being restricted to a tiny list of caterers, and Ryan and Tina were there to give us recommendations along the way. The space is elegantly and simply designed, which allowed us to make it our own. We had a live band, and got married on the stage. We felt like rockstars at our wedding, and isn't that all you can ask for? Our families and guests loved the space, and we did too!

king sure that you are happy and that you have everything you need. The space is wide open and has beautiful wrought iron-work and a chandelier, and a bar in the back. There's a dressing room with mirrors, and the upstairs office can also be used as a dressing room. They have a parking lot down the street for guests, plus street parking. Very responsive to questions and always willing to help. They are also very earth-conscious and have options for recycling and composting. Perfect space for a smaller wedding and reception. If you need to bring in catering, be aware counter space is limited and there are no heating elements in the back. We did our ceremony with cheesecake afterwards, and it was perfect! They're the best!
