Our May wedding at Northfield Estate was truly everything we could have dreamed of and more!! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning beauty of the venue and grounds!! Every single detail was perfectly thought out — from the get ready spaces, ceremony sites, the tent, stonework, chairs and more! Seriously nothing was overlooked!!
Whitney and Robert, the owners, were absolutely amazing to work with!! Their love for the property and dedication to their couples shines through in every aspect! The entire staff went above and beyond, always helpful, kind, and calm — even when we had a rain delay. They handled it all with grace and professionalism, making sure everything still ran smoothly and felt magical!
The day was seamless and perfect in every way!! We are so grateful to have celebrated one of the most important days of our lives in such a breathtaking place, surrounded by a truly exceptional team! Northfield Estate was perfection — we cannot recommend it enough!!! Would do it again in a heartbeat!!

Everything about this newly renovated historical wedding venue is just exquisite! From the immaculate grounds, the ceremony spot under a large majestic tree, the bridal suite and groom's cottage, the beautiful staircases and the grand ballroom that housed the rehearsal dinner - every nook and cranny is perfection. The owners and their staff are top notch, detail-oriented, kind and caring people that made the evening before and wedding day for my son and my beautiful daughter-in-law run so smoothly. I couldn't say enough good things about our experience and the venue itself.
In addition, one of the groomsmen stated as a professional wedding videographer from the Boston area that this venue is one of the best he's ever been to. Now that speaks volumes!

Northfield Estate is a luxury estate wedding venue in Cumberland, Virginia. It sits on nearly 60 acres of countryside between Richmond and Charlottesville. Located just over two miles from the Cumberland County line via US-60 E and VA-13 E, the estate is 10 minutes from Powhatan, 25 minutes from Farmville, about 40 minutes from Richmond, and just under 90 minutes from Charlottesville. Couples looking for an elegant indoor-outdoor wedding venue near Richmond or Charlottesville, VA will find a grand estate home, a sailcloth tent reception space for up to 200 guests, and several ceremony sites across the grounds.
The 8,300-square-foot Estate Home is the centerpiece of the property. It has a two-story center foyer, a sweeping spiral staircase, floor-to-ceiling windows, and crystal chandeliers. The indoor ballroom works well for intimate weddings, with room for up to 90 guests for a ceremony or 60 for a seated reception.
For outdoor ceremonies, couples can marry under our willow oak tree or on the lower terrace, with a grand entrance down the center staircase. Couples who want a rustic-chic feel can use the historic Dairy Barn as their backdrop. Receptions take place in our 5,900-square-foot twin-peak sailcloth tent, which glows warmly at night as guests celebrate. The tent is set against some of the best sunset views in Central Virginia. Every wedding at Northfield Estate includes:
- Up to 12 hours of exclusive use of the property
- A private bridal suite and groom's cottage for getting ready
- Tables and chairs for up to 150 guests, with setup and breakdown
- Tent lighting and draping
- A dedicated venue manager
- On-site parking for more than 80 cars

In 2018, Northfield Estate came on the market, and I had wanted to see it prior to someone else purchasing it. There was something about Northfield's history and beauty that drew me to visit it. I had no idea I would fall in love with this property, but I did. After years owning a neighboring venue I decided to purchase this beautiful, well-known, landmark in Southern Virginia. We spent five years renovating to create the perfect wedding venue. I personally have put so much detail, thought, and care into every decision during renovations to make this the best possible experience for clients and their guests. We are so honored to be the owners of this space and are looking forward to hosting your event in the future.
