Overall my wife and I are VERY disappointed.
When I first met the bakers for the consultation I believed with my whole heart they were the people meant to represent our wedding. The consultation presentation was great. They placed all the available flavors in front of us, shared with us their allcolades and even shared their experience with winning a Netflix bake off show, which further solidified our decision. At that point we had decided these were our bakers for life. About 2 weeks before the wedding a conversation was had about the cake presentation. My wife and I decided to have a swing stand which became a problem because they didn't want the cake to fall and they didn't want to "risk their reputation". They brought up the idea of a faux cake at no extra cost and they would make the original cake. I looked up a faux cake and I said sure. From my research on a faux cake, i believed they would provide a section to cut, tht had one actually slice of cake to cut out but majority of it styrofoam and fondant to mimick a real cake. We believed the problem was solved.
The wedding day, my wife and I sat at the reception with my mother in law approaching us with a distraught and bothered look on her face. She said the cake is white sheet cakes in multiple boxes and not able to cut and serve properly and no one ate the cake...the cake was suppose to be purple with marble fondant and multiple textures...we were confused... we then asked if there is a cut section on the faux cake... she said no... at that very moment we had to rush to fake a cake cuting experience for our videographers and photographers which was very embarrassing for us.
Trying to resolve the situation and speak about why we received the service we received they could only say it was a miscommunication and that they can only give us 10% of what we paid for the cake. When I asked what did I actually pay for? They said the cake and the complexity of the design of the cake. They also said that if they designed the cake and the faux cake it would be 2 cakes we would be paying for instead of one. Which doesn't make sense because the faux cake was literally cardboard and spray paint that looked like a hobby project.
Overall I wouldn't recommend them for weddings. Maybe smaller events. I definitely wouldn't go for a faux cake because they won't have a cut section and it will be completely made out of cardboard and spray paint. The original cake while be sheet cake. I also would ask for clarification to get what you would expect. They pretty much ruined our special day.
** 1 Year After **
We waited a whole year hoping for the anniversary cake to be better... well... the cake was plain. Nothing to do with the colors we discussed. Still very disappointed.
Working with Not Your Nana's Bakery was truly amazing, and the process was so easy with Christina. The preliminary tasting was fun (everything was super delicious) and her professionalism and genuine interest in what we wanted was appreciated. The actual wedding cake turned out amazing as well! It was so delicious and we (and our wedding party) loved how it turned out. We will definitely try to order from her again whenever we are back in town!
I ordered a large round cake for my son’s birthday from Not Your Nana’s Bakery, and I have also attended parties where their cakes were ordered as well. I was so pleased with the entire experience from ordering it, to Christina’s friendly phone call ensuring we got the perfect cake, to her punctual delivery, the presentation, and of course, eating it was the best part. All my guests loved the red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. I requested bright red fondant on the outside with yellow lightning bolts, and both were delicious and perfectly executed. I also attended a Mardi Gras party where the host ordered a king cake from Not Your Nana’s Bakery, and everyone enjoyed that as well. I was not surprised to see Not Your Nana’s Bakery win a baking competition on national television this last Christmas. Christina really does an excellent job.
